On the side, Aubrey Ning who was conversing earlier with one of her friends in the business industry had her attention caught by the commotion. Thus, Aubrey Ning and her friend were more than delighted to watch a great show that normally happens in this kind of event.

Alas, the moment she saw that it was Lexi, she was somehow puzzled by her appearance tonight. Nevertheless, assuming that Lexi had made an acquaintance with Ethan Lu because of his interest regarding the skincare industry, she never really gave any thought about it.

When Lexi finally rebutted the ever troublesome Stella Du that always gets her in trouble because of it, Aubrey Ning let out a chuckle as Lexi did get her good on that one.

“I— Lexi Yang, why are you turning this on me?!” Agitated, Stella Du ground her teeth as she glared at the low verbal attack Lexi just made.

“Hah! That Stella Du, of course, she’s also delusional for competing to get the attention of Master Lu!”

“Duh? As if she has a chance. For a girl as tactless as her— in her dreams!”

“Tsk, those two are both worthless to even dream to be the future Madam Lu.”

“At least, Lexi seems as if she’s really not here to join the competition as her rumored boyfriend is with her.” Again, comments from the side, especially from the upper-class young misses, snickered as they spat their disdain and opinions. In an instant, with just a few sly sentences from Lexi, the crowd split in half as not only the dislike to her but also Stella Du who could not admit her intentions.

“Uh… what’s really going on?” Still at loss, Elliot Gong scratched his jaw with the tip of his forefinger as he could not understand a thing. Well, maybe he did but he could not understand why this Stella Du person was so adamant to court death.

First, slandering Lexi who was, by the way, Ethan Lu’s goddess that he worshipped day and night. Second, she was doing it in Ethan Lu’s event— in his event! And lastly, why would she even think she stood a chance… or rather, why would the rest of the ladies think that they could even stand a chance?

Couldn’t they see Lexi? Are they blind? Even other men around them were enthralled by her beauty the moment they laid their eyes on her. If only Elliot Gong didn’t know any better, he would probably have the same gaze as other men but, knowing his dearest friend Ethan Lu, he wouldn’t dare nor even think about it.

“You!” Just then, Evelyn Lu who was comatose inside her mind finally snapped back from her reverie. The moment she regained her consciousness, she heard Stella Du’s last remarks and other comments that agitated her to the core.

Her sudden action of pointing her finger and aggressive countenance slightly made Lexi flinch and caught Stella Du’s attention. “Me?”

“Yes, you! How dare you ugly girl slander goddess Lexi in front of me! Do you know who I am?!” Loud and clear, Evelyn Lu threw a huge fit as she stood proudly in front of the towering Lexi that made her look even younger and shorter in comparison. Yet, that didn’t faze her as she ground her teeth while glaring daggers at Stella Du as if she would bite her to death.

“Ugly? Hey, shorty why are you suddenly interfering in this conversation?” Vexed, Stella Du’s aura flamed upon hearing that this short lolita just called her ugly! Surely, one way or another, their mind seemed to be of the same age and size. All the while with Lexi on the side.

Lexi who was surprised by the complete change of attitude of this unknown lolita cast her a side glance as she was also curious who she was. After all, one would at least come from an influential family to be in this event.

“Because I am the president of EliXi fan club!” Sounding proud, Evelyn Lu pridefully patted her chest which almost made Elliot Gong puke blood from shock. “So, I have all the rights because you are slandering my goddess not just in front of me but also in front of Eli! The nerve!”

‘President of EliXi?!? Oy! That club of yours nearly made me migrate!’ Rendered speechless, Elliot Gong’s eyes widened in disbelief as he could not believe he just heard that damn fandom right in Ethan Lu’s territory.

Just then, the main entrance of the function hall slowly opened and Ethan Lu followed by Lyrick Jiang and Jarred Guo entered the hall without a noise. Seeing that there seemed to be a commotion not far away from them, Ethan Lu’s brows furrowed.

Alas, the next second, he heard Evelyn Lu’s proud voice announcing her position in the damnable fandom he tried so hard to wreck. He could not help his under-eye but twitch upon hearing it— Lyrick Jiang as well as he knew very well that his boss despised that fan club as he verbally dissed it whenever he hears it.

Of course, his presence didn’t remain as low key because the moment others noticed his soundless entrance and dashing aura, all of the women’s attention shifted all to him. Yet, he didn’t care as his boyfie radar sent loud alarms inside his head.

“What’s going on?” He murmured as Ethan Lu took immediate strides towards the fawning crowd. As he did so, Nico Zhuang suddenly appeared and strode beside Lyrick Jiang. Fortunately, people unconsciously stepped aside which made it easier for them to see what was happening.

The moment he drew closer, his eyes immediately landed on the shining, and the brightest star of the night that made his eyes sparkle and an uncontrollable bright smile could not help but form on the side of his lips.

‘Love… I knew it,’ As his eyes landed on Lexi, it instantly softened as ripples made into tidal waves drowned his heart with love.

At the same time, Lexi, Elliot Gong, Evelyn Lu, and Stella Du’s attention subconsciously turned their heads towards Ethan Lu’s direction which made Lexi’s eyes softened as well as if she hadn’t seen him for a long time— yearning for his warm embrace and wanting to shower him with so much love.
