The Rise of the White Lotus Chapter 349 – I will become a father…?

Instantly, the entire venue enveloped into dead silence. Even the musicians playing in the background stopped. All her friends, Rika Song, Elliot Gong, and everybody aside the yang parents gasped upon hearing the word “baby.” None of them could utter a single word as they stared at Lexi in shock.

But, no one was as shocked, mortified, and thrilled, than the expecting father himself. Ethan Lu just stood there in a daze as his gaped eyes altered from her tummy to the still hiccuping Lexi. It seemed that all his words were stuck in his throat and for a moment, he became mute.

‘Lexi and… the baby…?’

“What are you looking at, you dummy? I’m pregnant! *hiccup*” Lexi bit her lower lip as Ethan Lu was akin to a fool that was just staring at her in a trance. She wanted to reveal that she was pregnant privately but with what he had just done, how could she even wait? Therefore, to get back at him at how romantic and heartwarming his proposal was that made her cry like a little girl, Lexi decided to tell him.

All the anxiousness and patience of revealing the fact that she was pregnant was all for naught because, in the end, she had to share this good news as well to everyone that was close to her heart. Regardless, Lexi didn’t feel disappointed or anything of the sort as she got to share this moment with these selected few that stayed true to her and became good friends to her.

“Love… are you sure?” Snapping out from his daze, Ethan Lu gasped as both of his arms immediately reached out to her and held on her shoulder with his eyes set on her puffy eyes.

“Mhmm!” Lexi profusely nodded as she hummed a strong affirmative tune. She then tilted her head to her parent’s direction which made him turn his head to them. There, Lillian Yang and Frederick Yang were smiling brightly and offered him a knowing nod.

Shocked, excited, extreme happiness, panic… perhaps, all of the emotions he could feel came surging inside him trapping him to an emotional tsunami. Baby… they were going to have a child! Lexi was pregnant and the father was him. God knows how marvelous it was at just the thought of him and Lexi finally starting a family of there own.

“Love…” Biting his bottom lips as hard as he could, his eyes started to sweat as his overwhelmed heart pounded louder and louder. He pulled her to his embrace again as his shoulder trembled and his back was soaked with sweat. Ethan Lu tightly held onto her as he grit his teeth tried hard not to let his crying turn into a loud sob.

Surely, Lexi did get him back as it was now his turn to sob. Her other free hand circled on his back as she rested her held up chin on his shoulder. “What?” Crying again, Lexi asked because now, both of them were like fools crying at the same time. Fortunately, it wasn’t a grieving cry as all of the tears that were shed tonight were due to extreme joy.

“Are you really pregnant…? I will become a father?” Under his breath, Ethan Lu slightly drew away from her as his watery eyes pierced into her as if every detail of her facial features were being examined.

“Yes,” Nodding, Lexi softly yet firmly responded, giving a tone of no doubt. “We will have our own baby.” She added. At this time, she witnessed another level of a genuine smile slowly formed on his lips that reached his eyes.

“I’m so happy…!” After her final confirmation, Ethan Lu could not help but give her an excited hug before he immediately got down to her stomach. “Baby, I’m sorry for making you cry as well. Daddy is sorry and I love you.” Lightly kissing her tiny protruding belly.

Whoever invented the word happiness… Ethan Lu thought that that person must be wrong because happiness was an understatement of what he was feeling right now. If only he could wish that the baby could arrive that instant, he would relentlessly pray so that they wouldn’t be able to wait. Alas, he might as well have a heart attack as everything was too much to process in one night.

By this time, everyone who was stunned by Lexi’s revelation finally got a hold of themselves. Seeing that Ethan Lu was already talking to their child that was still inside her w.o.m.b, a satisfied and a pleased smile formed on the side of their lips.

Surely, not only Ethan Lu shocked them with the idea of his proposal but Lexi’s retort was incredible as well. They might not say it out loud but they feel honored that these two perfect lovebirds shared their wonderful moments with them. Just the thought of Ethan Lu inviting them to this wonderful proposal, they were already honored as he considered them as people he could trust.

“Congratulations, son.” Frederick Yang was the first to congratulate Ethan Lu with the teary eyes, Lillian Yang, on his side. “Congratulations, dears. Oh my, I’m so happy for the two of you— I’m crying.” Lillian Yang chimed in as she wiped the tears on the corner of her swollen eyes.

“Thank you, Mom and Dad.” After leaving a tender kiss on Lexi’s tummy for the umpteenth time, Ethan Lu got up as he bowed with respect towards his future in-laws. He could not thank them enough or rather, he could not thank everyone enough that made time for them tonight because each and everyone of their presence means a lot to Lexi.

Without them, this proposal wouldn’t be as successful as he expected. Therefore, he was moved as well for their efforts. Soon, everyone approached them one by one to congratulate the newly engaged Lexi and the incoming family addition.

Meanwhile, Jarred Guo finally recovered from his choking because when Lexi dropped the bomb, he was gulping the food he was chowing down on. Therefore, he nearly choked to death, like literally. Fortunately, Nico Zhuang was there to help him as he could not rely on Lyrick Jiang who was in a daze without a care to his surroundings and now, crying like a proud father.
