The Rise of the White Lotus Chapter 350 – Oath your ass!

After receiving all of the congratulatory remarks for their engagement and for the shocking baby on the way, it was finally time for everyone to dine and enjoy the rest of the night with the man and woman of the night. There were numerous tables that were filled with every honorable guest of the couple.

On one certain table, Frederick Yang, Lillian Yang, Elliot Gong, Rika Song, Arnold Shen, and Lexi perched with a portion of their food on each of their plates. On the other hand, Ethan Lu didn’t join the table immediately as he tended to their other guests like the hostess of the night.

“*sigh* Just look at him, such a perfect guy. My bestie is surely lucky~ I’m envious.” Letting out a heavy sigh, Rika Song glanced in Ethan Lu’s direction who was busy accomodating some of the production crew that was close to Lexi.

Rika Song would be lying if she said she wasn’t envious. Alas, it was not to the extent that she would be unhappy about her best friend’s joyous moment. After all, despite the short time that she became friends with Lexi within a short span of time, she was a real friend just as Lexi was honest with their friendship.

“I don’t think Lexi is the only lucky one. After all, Ethan’s horrible dating history is a terrifying fact. He’s lucky that Lexi accepted him despite that.” Rolling his eyes to counter the dramatic Rika Song, Elliot Gong retorted as he displayed whose side he was on.

Of course, his reply sparked a momentary banter between the two that was akin to a cat and a dog. Nevertheless, their derision to each other caused each individual around the table to chuckle in glee including Lexi who was giggling while covering her mouth with the back of her hand.

As the two continued to argue as Rika Song was now on Lexi’s side while Elliot Gong was on Ethan Lu’s, Lexi decided to intervene. She knew that they wouldn’t stop because this was probably their way of showing they missed each other.

“By the way, since when did you all know about this proposal?”

Lexi’s sudden question effectively stopped the pair of quarreling duo while her parents smiled brightly and Arnold Shen rubbed his chin as if to recall something regarding her question.

“Dear, Ethan already told us beforehand months ago.” Through a light giggle, Lillian Yang answered. Well, within these past three months, Ethan Lu and Lexi occasionally dropped by to have dinner with them. Then, in one of those dinners, Ethan Lu already told them about his plan after he officially took over the Lu Corporation.

What they didn’t expect was that he would literally do it the next day. Regardless, it was perfect timing as Lexi was now pregnant and a wedding before her delivery should be done immediately.

“Woah~ Mommy and Daddy Yang, I only got the invitation late last night!” In awe, Rika Song’s eyes sparkled as she looked at the pair of Yang parents that were the epitome of forever love. With her character, although she only met them a few times, Rika Song was like another daughter to them that would shamelessly address them as mommy and daddy.

“Me too. I received an invitation last night and just saw it the next morning. If only Lexi and Mr. Lu are not important friends, I wouldn’t have to cancel my plans for the day.” After sipping his glass of champagne, Arnold Shen explained his side of the story.

Fortunately, he was already retired and his schedule wasn’t as busy as before. Therefore, his appointments that day weren’t as important as this magical event for the two. Moreover, he owed Ethan Lu for saving the finances back on the Taming Heart’s set after the dilemma about the two investors withdraw their investments. So, it was natural for him to attend.

“Aside from Auntie and Uncle, I guess everyone here tonight just received the invitations last night…” Under his breath, Elliot Gong nodded in understanding as he too just received the invitation last night.

Elliot Gong was already in the airport at that time as he had a flight to country j but just as it was the time of his departure, he received an official invitation about the proposal plan. Actually, Elliot Gong shouldn’t attend as he had to compromise a shoot the next day for his next film. Alas, just as the official invitation was sent, Ethan Lu personally sent him a message, saying:

“You must attend for your friend. Your plans for tomorrow were already canceled you know.” Therefore, after that overbearing message, how could he refuse? Therefore, Elliot Gong considered it that he was forced to attend.

Well, it was not like he was complaining as he knew that his other friends wouldn’t be able to come. After all, Morris Liu’s attendance needed some miracle and Chris Yu as well. Not to mention, Kevin Woo who was now under pressure while salvaging their company after Ethan Lu’s suppression.

“Aha!” after thinking for a minute, Elliot Gong realized something which made him express his thought loudly, catching the attention of the people around the table, including the nearby ones. “That sneaky fox! If I am correct, he just invited us to lessen the possibility that Lexi would refuse!”

“Haa?” Upon hearing his last remarks, Lexi and everyone else tilted their heads to the side with knitted brows and creased forehead.

“Lexi, your fiance is just making sure that you’d say yes and inviting everyone— there’s no way you would refuse in front of so many people, right?” In a matter of fact tone, Elliot Gong spat through his gritted teeth.

‘Oath your ass! He just didn’t want to get rejected. What a sneaky plan he’s got there!’ Inside his mind, for some reason, Elliot Gong felt cheated again upon realizing this possibility.

Well, he wasn’t entirely wrong because Ethan Lu also thought about it. Inviting her friends over to give his oath to cherish her and to get the certain yes— that’s two birds with one stone.
