“Please, have a seat.” With a smile, Jaime Liao politely gestured for them to take a seat around the small and comfortable looking couches. Lexi, together with everyone else, was under his spell as they wordlessly followed his instructions without breaking their gaze away from Jaime Liao.

Aside from the clear surprise in their eyes, Rika Song’s gaze was telling something differently. Her eyes were twinkling, reachable stars seemed to be created in the galaxy of her pair of orbs as she scrutinized the man from head to toe.

‘Height, check. Brow, on fleek so check. Eyes, nose, lips, check. Jawline, darling, they are sharp!’ Inside her mind, the imaginary blank boxes on her paper sheet for her ideal boyfie was one at the time being checked.

By the looks of it, his guard was fully raised and seemed like he had been threatening the innocent doctor in his mind.

“Master Lu, I didn’t expect that I’d see you today. So, I presumed you’re the father of the child. Congratulations!” Gently smiling, the doctor calmly turned to Ethan Lu’s unchanging surface and congratulated him.

Since Jaime Liao was a busy person, the booming news about Lexi and Ethan Lu unsuccessfully reached him. Regardless, everyone in the industry knew the name Ethan Lu plus his dashing looks was something that no one would easily forget. Therefore, he must admit that he was surprised to see the head of the Lu Corporation in the flesh.

“Oh… thank you, Dr. Liao.” Trying to get it together, Ethan Lu managed to keep his head level. He wanted to ask why this particular vital piece of information was overlooked but then again, it was his in-laws who arranged this appointment. Thus, how could he question why Jaime Liao didn’t say his gender in the first place, although they didn’t ask and only assumed.

Glancing at his in-laws, Ethan Lu saw their stunned expression, therefore, his deduction was right. They too thought that the name Jaime Liao was a name of a woman. Perhaps, it was the intense rollercoaster ride of Lexi’s pregnancy and his proposal that the four of them didn’t think that Doctor Xu’s recommendation was a male gynecologist!

It wasn’t a big deal about his profession. However, it was a huge matter as they planned that he would as well be the one to give assistance when Lexi give birth. After all, the doc.u.ments about his clinic and how he maintained to keep things private was commendable. Therefore, although this pregnancy wasn’t meant to be a secret, still, it was private property that the media wouldn’t easily find.

Making Lexi’s pregnancy all peaceful and quiet experience. But now, inside their minds, Lillian Yang, Frederick Yang, Lexi, especially Ethan Lu were having second thoughts about this initial plan of theirs.

“Miss Yang, shall we start your checkup?” Bearing the same gentle smile, Jaime Liao slightly raised his brows as he shifted his inquiring eyes to Lexi which made her completely snap from her stupor.

“Uh, sure.” In an awkward tone, Lexi nodded her head in agreement which completely brought Ethan Lu back from the hell of his own cloud of thought. That very second, he turned to Lexi in dismay and then to Jaime Liao’s bright smile before he took a book to input Lexi’s pregnancy’s progress.

“Love, can we postpone this?” Through a whisper, Ethan Lu leaned a little closer to Lexi’s ear as he constantly glanced at Jaime Liao’s figure who was picking up a small book that he left in his desk.

“Behave. It’s just a check-up.” Lexi marginally widened her eyes. Although she had to reconsider their initial plan, still, this is an official appointment. Moreover, it was just a check-up to know her due date and the estimation of how long she had been carrying the child in her w.o.m.b. Therefore, it was only sensible to continue this appointment as it wouldn’t give harm to anyone.

With that said note, Ethan Lu pursed his lips in a thin line because Lexi made sense. Yet, all his senses were heightened as his focus was all into this check-up and Jaime Liao. It was as if one wrong word or move from the doctor, he would surely intervene.

Soon, when Jaime Liao came back, he asked questions about Lexi’s last menstruation, and everything that was relevant to her pregnancy before jotting everything in the book. As he asked, the yang parent’s relaxed as they finally recovered. On the other hand, Ethan Lu was still keeping a watch on his questions and attentively listening as if waiting for the moment Jamie Liao would have a slip of the tongue.

However, after the last question, everything remained professional with Jaime Liao’s gentle company. Now, at this time, they finally understood why Doctor Xu recommended him. Maybe, Doctor Xu assumed that Lexi’s baby was fatherless hence, that depressing misunderstanding, Doctor Jaime Liao’s added company through the course of the pregnancy of the ‘single mother’, it would be more tolerable.

“Are you ready to hear the baby’s heartbeat?” Placing the pen on the chest pocket, Jaime Liao bore his usual gentle smile which instantly excites the soon to be parents and grandparents.
