Without any major threats, Old Man Power decided to play safe and hid some of tactics during the competition.

When Lu Li used his Cape for a burst in the end, he knew that he had underestimated his opponent, but it was too late by then. None of his aces were good enough to edge out the Cape in such a short amount of time.

Old Man Power had fallen into Lu Li’s trap.

If they had both given it their all right from the start, then where the victory fell might still be in question. Even if Lu Li was guaranteed to win, he would have had to use more moves.

“Alright! Lu Li ran past the goal! He won!” the commentator shouted loudly.

“An amazing come back; totally unexpected.”

Jiang Gu was actually being spiteful that neither of these players had any sportsmanship. Even he could tell that neither of them had given it their all.

The the audience, analysts and other competitors were all just bystanders compared to these two.

“Congratulations,” Old Man Power said as he completed the track. They were both teleported onto the award stage, and not only were the commentators there, but a special guest as well.

There were only a few people standing on the stage, while many more were standing near the stage to witness this final moment.

“I just got lucky,” Lu Li responded humbly.

“I thought I had this in the bag, but I still lost to you at the end,” Old Man Power sighed, looking at Lu Li with a complicated expression.

It was just as Water Fairy had told Lu Li; Old Man Power had some sort of skill or special effect with a short cooldown under his panther transformation. This was his fire cat transformation, which was a special effect on his equipment with a very short cooldown.

If he had used this form right at the beginning, he would have been able to create a large gap. Lu Li wouldn’t have been able to catch up even with his final sprint in the end.

However, regardless of the situation, the cooldown on Lu Li’s cape wasn’t that long either. It was only two minutes, meaning that it could have been used many times in the competition.

Regardless, it wasn’t hard to imagine Old Man Power’s current mood.

“I wasn’t expecting a Thief to win the championship at all.”

After the top three came out, no one bothered paying attention to the others behind them. At least, the two analysts had already redirected their attention to the award stage.

There were three competitors on the stage. One was Lu Li, a Thief, the other was Old Man Power, a Druid, and the last was the Hunter, who had sacrificed his pet.

As the first two rounds of the marathon began, the hosts were placed in quite an awkward position.

If the top three were Druids, wouldn’t this mean that this was a competition designed specifically for Druids?

However, the final outcome was much better than they had anticipated. Only one player of the top three was a Druid, so no one else would be able to make any complaints. On the other hand, Druid players had solely taken up the spots between the fourth place to the thirtieth. The host could only find some other ways to cover up for this.

There were too many events at the end of the year, and not every player would be able to attend all of them.

It was only natural that the gaming company would place more attention on this event, considering that this was the only competition that gave out a Legendary equip.

When a figure walked out under the spotlight, the players, especially the male players, all began to jump up and down.

Many pretty celebrities liked to refer to themselves as the ‘Otaku Goddesses’. Some had even managed to earn reputations such as ‘one-in-a-four-thousand-years kind of beauty’. However, Su Mei hated to be referred to as an ‘Otaku Goddess’.

She had only been a part of the industry for less than two years, played in a few movies and became one of the most famous female celebrities. She happened to be the guest for handing out the awards this time.

“Hehe, seems like Ms. Su is much more popular than us,” Li Yidong joked.

“I can’t believe the gaming company managed to invite Ms. Su over this time. Last time we saw her, she had only just joined the industry and gave us all quite an impression.”

Even though Jiang Gu was middle-aged, that didn’t stop him from having a passionate heart.

“Are you guys excited to see Ms. Su?” Li Yidong asked the three competitors who stood beside him.

The Hunter was already so excited that he couldn’t say anything. Old Man Power was more relaxed – he was a celebrity player himself, and was just as famous as her. He just smiled and said, “I’d be really happy to get an autograph from her.”

As for Lu Li, he wasn’t a fan.

Not everyone could afford to live such a relaxed life; he had been busy throughout both his previous and current life.

However, even he had heard of someone like Su Mei. She was someone that almost anyone would know about, but that was it.

He didn’t really understand why everyone was so excited about her.

Would it be better if he pretended to be a little more excited, just to fit in with the crowd? He just lived a more unfortunate life, but that didn’t mean that he planned to stay out of the crowd.

Unfortunately, he wasn’t a good actor!

As such, all everyone saw was just Lu Li with his usual cold face, and when he was asked if he was excited, he just nodded his head. No one could tell what part of him was excited at all.

“This guy is so good at faking it!”

“We bet he likes boys!”

“Let go of our goddess; let us hold on to her instead!”

This was the thought process of nearly everyone in the audience.

What occurred first was the standard speeches before handing out the awards. Then, Su Mei started to present the awards from the third place.

The Hunter barely had any presence at all throughout the whole process; he was just the third place after all. He received some experience and an equipment, as well as a small trophy item presented to him by Su Mei. As he trembled in excitement, he was teleported away.

“Power, kiss her! Power, kiss her!”

All the supporters of Old Man Power went crazy, screaming in unison.

Old Man Power’s expression looked very awkward. If he really pounced forward like some kind of perverted man, his reputation would definitely be driven into the floor. As such, he just took over the award calmly from Su Mei, maintaining his usual composure during the whole process.

Then fans beneath the stage weren’t impressed at all.

“No wonder why he has no girlfriend!”

With the huge sum of experience he gained from being the second place, he almost gained an entire level. However, he didn’t feel the slightest bit of joy at all. He just felt like the blue sky had suddenly turned pitch dark.

The second-placed competitor was teleported away too.

Besides the two hosts on stage, there was only Lu Li and Su Mei left.

“Before we present the award, I have a small request,” Su Mei said as she held onto the little present box that contained the Legendary equipment.
