The Great Thief Chapter 1137 – Trading Two For One
Translator: Halcyon Translations Editor: Halcyon Translations
No other Ruling Sword member attacked Immortal. Because she was pursuing Lu Li, she was already too far away from Moonlight and the others.
As such, they changed their target to Falling Smile.
Falling Smile was protected quite well. Peerless City used this strategy to lure and kill many players who went after their Healers. However, now that Lu Li had made a mistake which resulted in Ruling Sword losing control of the match, they decided to focus on him first.
Immortal’s discovery of Lu Li’s weakness was not a mere stab in the dark.
They practiced a lot in this map and found that Thieves would leave traces of their movements behind. This was how Immortal managed to catch Lu Li.
She should have been proud of herself. After all, not many could achieve what she had done.
However, Lu Li was harder to kill than they thought. She could only watch as he got healed again and again, despite reaching 50% HP.
Falling Smile was already calling for help. It wasn’t that he was unable to protect himself, but that the results were not ideal.
He had no chance of survival if no one came and helped him. After all, there were three DPS players – Moonlight, Kitty Likes Meat and Sakura Memories with Bloodlust – that were attacking him.
“Keep attacking!” Deadly Gold Underpants glanced at Lu Li’s HP and yelled.
His team could only continue trying to kill Lu Li. They did not know if they would be successful in saving Falling Smile anyway, so they decided to trap him. If Lu Li could not escape, he would definitely die. Even if March Rain kept healing him, he still would not be able to survive. After all, Vegetarian Mosquito’s pet had already successfully suppressed March Rain on multiple occasions.

Vegetarian Mosquito didn’t bring a pet that boasted high Attack power, but a pet with many different crowd control skills. These skills were specialised in rendering the opponent’s healer useless.
Lu Li took a deep breath and just before the last hit landed on him, he used his Ring’s special effect.
Ghostclaw (Dark Gold): Damage 36-48, Agility +42, Strength +28, Critical Chance + 25%. Special Effect 1: When consecutive critical strikes are made, the third strike will have a 50% chance of dealing 3x damage. Special Effect 2: Cutthroat Level +1. Special Effect 3: Ghostclaw, Burst effect. After activating, deals 600 damage to the target. 50% of dealt damage is restored back to caster as HP. The target’s Armor is also lowered by 30% for 15 seconds. Level requirement: 50. Durability 215/215.
Although he had a Legendary ring with him now, Ocean’s Breeze’s effect was not ideal in this situation. He also wanted to show as few of his equipment as possible. Therefore, when he saw that Peerless City had picked this map, he changed his Ring to Ghostclaw.
This ring made his Critical Strikes extremely powerful. Immortal was hit by two consecutive critical hits, then was hit by another. The third strike was 3x the original damage, so a significant chunk of her HP was gone.
Then, he used the third effect of the ring, and dealt 600 damage to her.
Although this did not kill her, it did restore 300 HP to Lu Li and also decreased her Armor by 30%.
Deadly Gold Underpants could theoretically deal 300 to 400 damage to Lu Li and kill him, since he was hanging on at barely 200 HP. However, after activating the effect, he restored 300 HP and was now safe.
Lu Li did not care that he was close to death. He took out his dagger and only managed a 3-star Cutthroat.

Lu Li’s Cutthroat was already level 5. After adding the extra level given from Ghostclaw’s effect, it was level 6. A 3-star proficiency was sufficient to knock Immortal out of the match.
Shortly after this, a white light rose up from the ground of the arena. Immortal died first, but Falling Smile quickly followed. He used up all his mitigation and dispel skills, then died shortly after.
Trading one for two!
Lu Li was extremely happy with this result. Although his offensive power was high, he still needed to attack first. Compared to other classes, Thieves were glass cannons and their usefulness in Dustwallow Marsh was limited.
To be able to trade for the opponent’s Healer and Mage DPS was a win, regardless of how you saw it.
For the rest of the battle, Lu Li became a normal spectator. He could observe his teammates’ performances more clearly.
The audience was surprised that despite being one-down in members, Peerless City was not immediately finished. If that was the case, then it would be even more surprising. Peerless City was a team that was contending for the title. There was no way that they would fall apart instantly.
Then again, if the points difference was too large between them and Ruling Sword, they would have lost a chance at improving themselves. What was the point of keeping Last Resort then?
In the next season, these equips would be removed.
Peerless City instantly suppressed Ruling Sword’s four members while Deadly Gold Underpants summoned an Earth Dragon, which created a sandstorm in the area. These sandstorms dealt damage with a chance of stunning enemies. Lu Li was amazed at this.
If this was a special effect, then Lu Li needed to get his hands on it, no matter what the price.
Deadly Gold Underpants probably did not expect things to change so quickly. Otherwise, he probably would have used it earlier.
Both reserve members, Green Flag Wine and Mu Qiu rushed into the fray. Peerless City managed to gain an advantage from their moment of insanity. Sakura Memories, who lacking many defensive skills, was killed by Half a Smoke after he landed two critical strikes on her.
As Lu Li watched his teammates fall one after the other, he was unexpectedly not that worried.
However, he was extremely excited at the thought of possibly borrowing Deadly Gold Underpants’ Earth Dragon. Half a Smoke had also managed to cast his Ultimate skill, which dealt consecutive critical strikes. If this was also the doing of a special effect…
Then it must be borrowed as well!
The whole of Peerless City was like a treasure vault for Lu Li. He was fortunate that he had met with Soul Eater to negotiate beforehand.
It didn’t matter if he had to give something up; Lu Li was only focused on the Finals. He believed that Glory Capital would do the same thing, but they had many more connections. Even if Ruling Sword managed to blast their way through to the Finals, it was still likely to be a hard-fought battle.

The Dreamside Road
Five years after the world fell into chaos, a treasure of artifacts is up for grabs. The relics of the Dreamside Road offer a power that could help rebuild or annihilate what remains. Enoa Cloud’s late aunt helped hide the Dreamside Road, but following in her aunt’s supernatural tradition offers her as much peril as power. Together, Orson and Enoa battle a magic-obsessed militia, clash with a host of rivals, and face constant adventure on their journey to find the Dreamside Road. *Updates Monday and Friday The Dreamside Road is now on TopWebFiction! Vote so people know this exists. _____________________________________ NOTE: The Progression tag applies specifically to Enoa. Also, fair warning, that element doesn't enter the story until she begins her studies. Content: Main characters range in age from teenagers to people in their thirties and older, but it will not contain gratuitous violence or explicit sexual content. It also won’t shy away from implication, anything to make this story and its world feel more real. Characters will freely allude to potentially triggering topics, including living with a disability, facing terminal illness, coping with trauma, surviving societal destabilization, and the consequences of bigotry. At its most intense, the Dreamside Road is a hard PG-13. Worldbuilding: This is not a story with a lot of early exposition scenes, conveniently explaining ‘magic systems’ and political dynamics. Readers will learn, progressively, as the characters do. This story/world has a ‘magic system’, or rather, a set of systems, but the effort to quantify and understand the truth of the setting plays a role in the backstory, as well as in some character motivations. In that same vein, not every character has a firm grasp on the nature of their world, and not every piece of dialog from every character should be taken as entirely truthful Worldbuilding. Also, this isn't the softest Sci-fi. There are at least some basic explanations given for various elements, but Royal Road does not give me a spectrum to choose from. Given the choice between hard and soft, let's just say The Dreamside Road won't be cited in any college Physics papers. Setting and Theme: The Dreamside Road walks the line between fantasy and science fiction and deals with finding one’s place in a changing world. Many of the characters in this story are United States natives and the story begins in the United States, my homeland. However, knowledge or interest in this country is not necessary to understand the story, especially as it progresses. Also, as this is a novel that deals with societal collapse and while that damage may be widespread, in story, I don’t want to overstep and critique the culture of others’ unless I have particular knowledge in a given area. Ultimately, the Dreamside Road is American in the same way Harry Potter is English, fantasies that do not have a full secondary world, but with enough original elements to fully diverge the setting from our the real world.

Re-Ordaining of the Chosen
Alea cheerfully hummed as she descended the steps, brimming in upbeat while her colleague, Quarren Leos, shot her a look of skepticism. “So… were you right about him?” he asked doubtfully. She came to a stop for a moment, her humming falling silent before she shook her head, waving her medium length light-blonde hair from side to side. “I was wrong about him.” Quarren raised an eyebrow in confusion at the convoluted response.“But you seem quite happy?” he asked again. “Because I am. But I was wrong about him. He was… so much more than I ever expected.” Alea looked at the sky overhead with a smile. “That boy… no, that man, is amazing. I firmly believe he will come to stand on top of any adversary he faces. He is destined. He is Chosen.” Quarren snorted as he stepped past, shaking his head. “Okay. Each to their own beliefs but you’re sounding like a nutjob. That skinny twig? Everyone calls him a cripple, you know,” he shook his head.“Rumours are always false, Leos,” Alea answered with a disapproving shake of her head. “You wouldn’t know. He is so, so much more.” “I saw him with my own two eyes. I didn’t see anything redeeming,” Quarren rebutted. “Well…” Alea chuckled. “You haven’t seen what I’ve seen.” In the year 917 of the Imperial Calendar, the Great War had just ended between dozens of nations. Farrien welcomed home millions of troops and warriors with the Archdukes of Aerianne and Kanaria leading them at the forefront. Since the founding of Farrien, the Aerianne and Kanarian Archduchies have been pillars upholding the Kingdom from enemies. It was common belief that they possessed special blood blessed by the Goddess Stecia, who gifted the lineage to the first King of Farrien when he first founded the country. All were ecstatic when the current generation of the two Archduchy's, after the war, agreed to let their children wed. The excitement was short-lived however when the Aerianne Princess proved to be a dragoness among men but the Kanarian Prince was worse than even mediocre. The Prince disappeared and the wedding was shortly forgotten as society lived on. Until one day the Young Heir of Kanaria returned to Farrien a changed man, bringing demise with him. Follow the story of the Chosen ordained by the Goddess of Time as he returns to the past to right his wrongs and set things back straight again!
