The Great Thief Chapter 1245 – Pain Suppression

3 points!
Lu Li wondered if it was possible for Ruling Swords to win by 3 points against Drizzle Court.
It would be terrifying if Glory Capital was able to come back from this deficit.
Some people even thought that this was all according to Glory Capital’s plan – losing the first match because they were unfamiliar with the map and losing another because they wanted to give the rookie some experience.
Whether that was true or not, the team match was still the deciding factor.
“Sigh, what should we do if Drizzle Court wins?” Square Root Three asked as he sat down next to Lu Li with a worried face
“What else can we do? We’ll just have to face them,” Lu Li said slowly.
If we defeat Drizzle Court, then Water Fairy would be mad at you. Looks like someone’s going to be single for the rest of his life.”
“If Drizzle Court can defeat Glory Capital then why are you so confident that we can defeat them?”
Lu Li was speechless. He wondered what had gotten into Square Root Three’s head. Did he think that Ruling Sword was invincible?
“Oh yeah…” Square Root Three mumbled.
What was surprising was that Glory Capital did not use their home court advantage and chose a large, round open map.
Lu Li was confused; he could not understand what Glory Capital was doing. They were either trying to lose on purpose or they were incredibly confident. Another possibility was that Water Fairy bribed Sorrowless with an obscene amount of money.
They had the home court advantage but didn’t utilize it. Instead, they chose an open round map which gave no strategic advantages whatsoever.
There were nine maps in total and besides the large round map, they all had their own unique features for teams to play around.

Drizzle Court had a team of Thief, Warlock, Mage and Priest, as well as a Paladin as backup.
Glory Capital had a team of Thief, Mage, Priest, Shaman, Warlock and also a Paladin as backup.
There was no need for the teams to study this map and execute a strategy. Instead, as soon as the match started, the two teams charged towards each other and began unleashing their skills.
Drizzle Court’s Star Baby was being targeted. Since both teams had single target Priests, killing the healer was basically half of the way to victory. Drizzle Court also had the same strategy in mind. Cloth Armor classes were very squishy and relied heavily on their defensives.
“I think the two teams are just going to trade off their healers,” Square Root Three said. He was even more nervous than Lu Li.
“This doesn’t make any sense.”
Lu Li was trying to figure out what Glory Capital was up to.
“If they trade healers, then it’s impossible for Glory Capital to win by 3. They must have something up their sleeves that no one knows about, something that could help them avoid trading healers. Would it be a defensive? But what kind of defensive can allow a squishy healer to tank the DPS of four star players?
The truth was about to come out.
Lu Li was right about his speculations. When White Westhill reached critical HP, a white light began glowing around him, making him blurry and difficult to see.
Pain Suppression?
Lu Li knew about this overpowered Priest skill, but it could only be learnt at Lv60.
Pain Suppression, Instant Cast. Reduces all damage taken by 50% for 5 seconds. Castable while stunned. Cooldown 3 minutes.
If his memory served him right, that was only the Lv1 effect. If it was maxed out, it would reduce damage taken by 80%, which was close to a 5 second invulnerability skill. Drizzle Court began panicking.

They realized that whatever defensives White Westhill was using, their damage was being significantly reduced.
White Westhill healed himself back to full HP after all the commotion.
Lu Li looked at Square Root Three and saw that his hands were shaking. The other players watching were probably reacting the same way. Priests used to be the squishy target that everyone bullied around, and now, they had become one of the most durable classes in the game because of that skill.
Star Baby also had defensives, but none of them could match up against Pain Suppression. Drizzle Court were about to come back and save their healer, but before they realized, it was already too late.
They still had a Paladin waiting outside, but the match was most likely over.
The final score was 6:1. Drizzle Court lost by 5 points and was almost wiped completely. This sort of score in a team deathmatch was extremely rare, especially this late into the tournament.
One of the reasons for this was West Whitehill’s Pain Suppression, which completely threw Drizzle Court off their game. Water Fairy also gave up when Star Baby died because she knew that there was no chance of coming back.
Drizzle Court had lost, but Ruling Sword could get revenge for them.
Glory Capital made it into the finals!
White Westhill was the real MVP of this match.
After the match, Ruling Sword immediately called for a team meeting.
They hadn’t officially made the finals, but they were up by so much that it was impossible for Gale Legion to come back. Once Ruling Sword advanced, the championship will be decided between these two guilds.
Lu Li entered the room and everyone appeared quiet and demoralized.
Fat Monkey wasn’t being his usual loud and annoying self; he simply played around with his hair and sat in the corner in silence. Moonlight, who was usually the cool and collected one, had a very bitter expression on his face.
If it was any other team with such an overpowered trump card, they wouldn’t be as worried.
However, this was Glory Capital, the most powerful guild in the game. Not only that, but they now had one of the best defensive skills in the game.
