The Great Thief Chapter 1458 – Chicken Dinner
Translator: Exodus Tales Editor: Exodus Tales
“Sister Maple is coming. Why don’t we queue up together?” Water Fairy suggested.
Fancy immediately felt his face heat up. He felt personally attacked by the difference in treatment and asserted jokingly, “Water Fairy, that’s not fair – why have you allowed the Canine King to queue up with you but not me?”
Water Fairy paused for a second then said, “Because it’s your fault for not being a girl.”
Unforgettable Maple was speechless. The reason given by Water Fairy was quite valid.
What could Fancy say? He wasn’t an idiot; it was obvious that he was being excluded. He thought for a second before saying, “This Lu Li guy is only playing his second game and is already performing so well. Canine King, why don’t you have a contest with him? By the way, Lu Li is also Water Fairy’s boyfriend.”
“What is there to say about a couple in an illicit love affair? Lu Li is talented; I would never want to compete with him. Plus, Lu Li isn’t someone careless. It is definitely not the case that anyone can compete with him.”
Unforgettable Maple was an astute and manipulative person, so Fancy wanted to use him as a weapon against Lu Li. Knowing this, Unforgettable Maple didn’t want to continue this charade as antagonising Lu Li had no benefit.
Additionally, there seemed to be a hidden agenda behind Fancy’s words. It was obvious that he had a huge crush on Water Fairy. It would have been fine if it was just a joke or typical banter. However, Unforgettable Maple couldn’t bear with the fact that Fancy wanted to steal Lu Li’s girlfriend. He thought that Fancy might have wanted a battle to the death.
Everyone felt comfortable jokingly calling Unforgettable Maple ‘Sister Maple’. This was because everyone knew he had a good temper. Fancy had crossed the line for wanting Unforgettable Maple to offend someone, especially someone he respected. Although he had a good temper, even he had his limits. That was why he commented that not everyone had the qualifications to compete with Lu Li.
“Haha, if you already have enough people, then I’ll leave,” Fancy fumed. He wanted to find a way to leave the conversation with minimal embarrassment. His attempt, however, was unfortunately met with silence.

In every game, there was bound to be people who play well, but these people were not considered threats by real gamers. However, if you were an expert in a variety of different games and was able to master different games, it meant that you had truly mastered the Art of Gaming.
Although Lu Li had completely dominated the gaming field during the course of Dawn, his performance during Survival and Escape was also magnificent.
“Boom!”
“There are eight left. Twenty seconds until the poisonous circle closes in. Keep moving forward.”
Lu Li pulled the trigger, killing two players. The teammates of the fallen were cowards that had no intentions of saving them.
“There are people running to the left of the circle.”
Water Fairy couldn’t focus much on the live streaming room; all her attention was directed towards the battlefield. The safe area was already reduced to a miniscule geographical size.
Both Lu Li and the Water Fairy did not know that there were a lot of streamers in their room.
Unforgettable Maple seemed to have caused a commotion in the chat room, because all the high-level players that were online came to witness the Lu Li’s stellar performance in Survival and Escape.
“Is this the second round?” Midnight Ghost belonged, within Dawn, to the Eternal Kingdom and was also a great Survival and Escape player.
“I only remember playing my first game and just losing. And I don’t remember much of the second game,” Egg Cow recalled.
“Players said that Lu Li killed six in his first round,” Unforgettable Maple mentioned.
“That’s impressive. How are we going to battle Water Fairy’s team in the future?” Hornet’s Nest was very worried. He and Lucky Southern Persian were both trying to survive in Survival and Escape, but they weren’t playing that well. When fighting against Water Fairy and Star Baby as a team, they had a 50/50 chance of winning or losing. However, now that Lu Li had replaced Star Baby, and given how talented Lu Li is, they had no chance of competing.
“How could they see who is crawling inside the grass area, and use only one shot to kill them?” Hornet’s Nest enviously complained.
“The stock was not well hidden. You couldn’t see the obvious so it’s on you for dying,” Unforgettable Maple retorted.
“Sister Maple, eat a chicken once and you will get a level 60 Dark Gold Armor,” Hornet’s Nest said as he hugged his legs tightly. There was no other option; it was his fault for not performing as well as the other players. Sacrificing some equipment was better than sacrificing his reputation, not that there was much of a reputation to even salvage.

“Hehe, level 60 Dark Gold Armor. It’s a myth. It’s not that easy to eat chicken dinner. I fought six or seven times yesterday and only won once. I was playing with my brother too,” Unforgettable Maple responded in a nonchalant manner.
“I’ll go find Lu Li in a moment. He’s about to lose his title of the King of Guns,” Hornet’s Nest said.
On Lu Li’s side, there were only five people remaining. This meant that other than him and Water Fairy, there were only three others still alive. There was a wheat field, and everyone was hiding within it by proning.
“I’ll let you wear my clothes,” Water Fairy offered. She was referring to the lucky clothes.
“No, that’s unnecessary. You should wear it and prone without moving. Watch win as we the chicken dinner,” Lu Li said confidently. Although he became more confident with each game, he was also slightly regretful. He could have made more money if he played and live-streamed Survival and Escape compared to Dawn. Then, he could use that money to save his little sister.
However, in his previous life, if he had played Survival and Escape rather than Dawn, then he would not have been able to succeed in the latter. Survival and Escape lacked the difficulty of Dawn.
Water Fairy was proned while Lu Li switched to an automatic. He then used the red laser to scan around the field and found a target. He fired, and blood splattered everywhere.
“There are two left but I’m not sure whether they are on the same team. It is fortunate that the circle is still on our side,” Lu Li said as he moved to a different position. He had just fired so his existing position was no longer safe.
Such circumstances were very difficult to manage. The safe zone had already reduced to the size of a palm. Everyone was virtually face to face. Because of the close range, accuracy was less of an issue. Now it was a psychological test of nerves.
“You watch the right and I’ll watch the left. I suspect they are about to enter the safe zone.”
Lu Li was no longer focused on ambushing the enemies. At such a close range, there was not much point.
“I’m a bit nervous but why don’t I charge ahead to have a look?” Water Fairy was slightly impatient; they only needed to kill two more before they could win. However, she never had good results, because she played too aggressively. That being said, Star Baby was even more aggressive than her.
Such a game required people who could handle the pressure. If you wanted to succeed, sometimes you only needed to kill one, two or even none, and you could still claim victory. “
If you want to charge ahead, then charge ahead,” Lu Li conceded.
Since he couldn’t control her, he might as well let her charge ahead and test it. To put it darkly, if Water Fairy charged ahead, she could be used as bait. If others attacked her, they would reveal their own positions.
If Water Fairy jumped, she would be able to spray her gun into the field.
And with some luck, she actually downed an enemy.
“How did she discover him?” Hornet’s Nest was flabbergasted.
“I also actually can’t understand it!” Midnight Ghost was shocked. The audience could see Water Fairy’s perspective, and there was no way she could have discovered the hidden enemies.
“It was a fluke!” Unforgettable Maple laughed.
Those hiding in the field did not make any mistakes. Even if you were the Canine King, there was nothing you could have done to survive that.
The remaining players fired against Water Fairy. He didn’t raise his body, because he knew that if he did so, he would be subject to the attack of two players. One of his concerns was the person carrying the M249. Although such a weapon didn’t have high damage, it contained a lot of bullets— 2.5 times the ammo capacity of an average gun.
Lu Li heard the gun shot, and immediately started shooting at the direction of the sound
Winner Winner, Chicken Dinner!
The pair finally won their battle.
Water Fairy’s live broadcasting channel views had already exceeded the previous record. It was already attracting famous streamers, and such a gathering was rare in the gaming world.

Dungeon Core Chat Room.
This is a slower-paced "experiment and dungeon building" web novel that tries to use the idea of peer-to-peer communication with Dungeon Cores instead of Dungeon to slave monster communication to break up the detailed dungeon building. Rank 1 description: (minimum met for system initialization...detailed description as follows) Each race was given a system by the gods to make up for their shortcomings and balance their place in this world. Humans: Abysmally bad at understanding and using magic unable to use more than the lowest of magic were given the "Skill System" magic in the form of premade skills with use, study, and mastery tied to experience. Elves: Intuitively understand magic and have long lives leading to vast knowledge and skill in their chosen fields. However, as a species, they have nearly zero sex drive and less than low fertility, so they were gifted the "World Tree System" with experience gained through the care of natural areas – gifting the chance of children to increase their numbers without dirty copulation. All “natural” or “wild” monsters are given an "Evolution system" designed around killing and consuming as many creatures as possible, slowly increasing strength and, at thresholds, allowing mutations to alter them multiple times. Dungeon cores are different. Unlike humans, they can see, manipulate and live off mana. Unlike Elves, they naturally crystallize after extended periods of time in high mana level areas. However, they cannot easily move or communicate and typically go insane without companionship. As a species other than the odd eccentric they are unimaginative. Brute forcing solutions without the drive to truly innovate. Thus they have been gifted with the "Dungeon Connection System" a magical version of the internet accessible by their peers that allows them to barter and sell: bait, traps, monsters, and knowledge, as well as entertain each other with “adventure streams” using exciting recorded battles and humorous reels of arrogant chumps biting off more than they can chew to often fatal effects. This is the casual story of a dungeon unluckily spawned far from potential adventurers forced to innovate beyond its peers to find its place in this world. Rank 2 Description: Justification. I've been on a dungeon core kick for months and while I love the genre – it's sparse with entries. Often the forced conflict gets repetitive and frantic solving of threats "power levels" the protagonist to god levels to progress the plot – taking away the nice steady progression fantasy I'm looking for. (Progression in this story is linked to how strong of monsters/traps/whatever he can create not his "level"...this is demonstrated by some of his newer monsters beating his older monsters not with discrete "this monster has 10 attack this one has 40") Additionally, the focus on 3rd parties with their drama takes away from the reason I’m reading dungeon core novels in the first place – I'm looking for magical crafting, experimentation and kingdom building – not defence from higher and higher levelled enemies looking to steal/destroy/control the MC. This novel is kind of just me writing the story I wish I could read. I like thinking about the experimentation that can be done in fantasy settings using 'mana' as an excuse to make up rules and try to keep them internally consistent. IE once I define how a rule works, I'm going to commit to keeping it – no breaking hard truths I've given when it's convenient, even if it backs me into a corner. Hopefully, that should make the story interesting to read even if it's SOL and less action-oriented. There will be problems to solve and a clear progression in strength (of created monsters and knowledge) however due to not wanting to force conflict for the sake of conflict the general theme will be closer to slice of life with few action sequences and no overarching goal so please keep that in mind when picking this up as the genre is not for everyone. Finally, I have a clear goal of what I want from this story (not an endless romp but a series of arcs and then a conclusion that's a couple of dozen medium-sized chapters long) I want to commit to finishing it or at least bringing it to a point of rest. I hate all the engaging stories that stop with a “hiatus” indefinitely so in the event I lose motivation I'll work to end this even if the ending becomes rushed/unsatisfying just to give a sense of closure. I’m planning on including several polls in terms of direction and taking feedback heavily into account if I get enough readers (but may choose to ignore it if it deviates too far from the direction I want to take this as in feedback like: “The MC needs a cartoonishly evil arch-enemy that wants to enslave him and force the mc to pump out magic items” or “the MC needs to make a body and learn teleportation then live with humans” will get shot down without consideration.)

STEM: The Topical Dungeon
Inspired by CORE: The Volcanic Dungeon by Ace Arriande and a spiritual successor to my writing prompt series Evolution Barricade, STEM is a series following the reincarnation of Kaden into the fantasy world of Brogdar. Reborn as a "DM" and a plant, Kaden tackles the challenges of being the agent of the chaotic god: trying to be his very own dungeon master. However, unlike other stories, Kaden is often making fun of and dealing with disadvantages that the normal reincarnated hero would never have to worry about. A parody of the normal tropes of isekai, STEM is a periodic series that is intended to release a minimum of once per week. There may be times where there is more than one drop, but those would be special occasions. Additionally, the content tags are simply to try and ensure my readers know these stories can encompass a large variety of things. They may not immediately be in focus, but they will all end up appearing!
