Chapter 179: Unbelievable “Luck”
Translator: Exodus Tales Editor: Exodus Tales
Edited by Aelryinth
At a location a few kilometers away from Zhang Che’s camp, an examinee raised his head and looked at the sky carelessly… only to see the huge purple beast swooping down at the ground. He cried out in shock, “Look, what is that!?”
His four companions immediately looked in the direction he was pointing at. Every one of them were shocked by that flying beast with a wide wingspan.
“Don’t move! That flying beast is sure to be very powerful. It mustn’t discover us!” the Tier Three beastmaster of the team was more knowledgeable, after all. He immediately realized that flying beast was no ordinary exotic beast and quickly yelled out.
The four others were immediately so frightened that they didn’t dare to move a muscle, each of their faces showing terrified looks.
—
At the same time, at another location several kilometers away from them, a team of soldiers responsible for patrolling around this area also saw that huge purple flying beast. Their faces instantly turned grim.
“Hurry, we have to go provide help! Hopefully that flying beast’s target isn’t any examinee, or they’ll be in huge trouble!” the leader of the squad shouted. He immediately summoned his mount-type subdued beast and rushed in that direction. At the same time, he retrieved an exquisite crossbow from his backpack and released a bolt into the sky without any hesitation.
The bolt shot to the sky. This custom-made bolt immediately produced a sharp sound, spreading to several kilometers away.
This was the signal to request for backup, indicating that there was a powerful exotic beast nearby.
After the signalling bolt shot into the sky, the faces of a Major General and a middle-aged man, who were casually chatting on a small hill a few kilometers away, changed at the same time.
The middle-aged man in casual dress seemed to be no inferior to the general in terms of standing. He immediately summoned a huge flying subdued beast with a wave of his hand and suggested with a grave expression, “General Tang, it seems like some powerful exotic beast had made its way in here. It’s not very far from here. Let’s go take a look.”

“Of course. There mustn’t be any casualties among the examinees on the first day of the exam, or we’ll have no face to report back to our superiors,” General Tang agreed. The two jumped onto the back of the middle-aged man’s flying subdued beast. After that, the huge flying beast bent its knee and pushed itself off the ground, flying in the direction the signal came from.
————–
“None of you move a muscle!” Zhang Che shouted, seeing the purple flying beast diving down at them. The Fallen Star bow was already in his arm, a V-type armor-piercing arrow nocked on the bowstring.
Zheng Hongru and the others immediately stopped moving after hearing what Zhang Che said.
Although they were very doubtful whether Zhang Che could accurately hit the purple flying beast, and whether his arrows could injure it even if he did, they had no other choice.
Even if they sent out the rescue signal, it wouldn’t help them at all. By the time rescue arrived, they’d already be eaten by the flying beast, with not even any bones left.
The purple flying beast came increasingly closer. Zheng Hongru and the others’ faces grew increasingly uglier. They were all praying in their hearts, -Brother Che, you have to succeed, or we’re all done for!-
Zhang Che’s face was focused and serious. He narrowed his eyes slightly, staring at the purple flying beast swooping down at them. When he knew that their enemy had entered the dangerous range of two hundred meters, he suddenly drew his bow and released his finger in the next moment. A black blur shot forth.
The arrow was extremely fast, but the flying beast’s reaction speed wasn’t slow, either. Although it couldn’t dodge in time, it quickly shifted its head slightly at the last moment and used its tough long beak to deflect the arrow.
“We’re finished!”
“He missed! What should we do…”
Zheng Hongru and the others were ashen-faced, his hand grabbed the signal gun at his waist.
No matter if the rescue team could reach them in time to save them, it should be possible for them to retrieve their corpses, right?
However, Zhang Che hadn’t gave up. After he missed his shot, he reached for another arrow and nocked it, quickly taking another shot.

By this time, the flying beast was less than a hundred meters away from Zhang Che!
The arrow turned into a black streak and instantly struck the flying beast’s head, leaving it unable to react at all.
Zheng Hongru and the others didn’t even see this clearly. They only heard the purple flying beast suddenly letting out a sharp cry, its huge figure like an airplane that went out of control, crashing into the ground a short distance away from Zhang Che.
Bam!
The earth trembled violently. The fallen flying beast looked even bigger up close. Although Zheng Hongru and the others knew for a fact that this fellow was already severely injured by Zhang Che, their legs still trembled uncontrollably in fear.
In the next moment, the purple flying beast suddenly let out a sorrowful cry and turned into a mass of glowing light, before condensing into a dark golden card, laying silently in the crater it created.
Zheng Hongru and the others stared wide-eyed at the dark golden beast card laying at the bottom of the large crater. They blanked out for a while before they suddenly cried out, “My, my God, dark gold! Dark gold! It’s dark gold-quality, Brother Che, you’re too awesome!”
Although they were aware that Zhang Che brought a dark gold-quality subdued beast with him for this examination, they thought that it was his family who prepared the card for him. None of them were of the opinion that Zhang Che could possibly triumph over a dark gold quality exotic beast. Not even a little.
But now, the truth laid before their eyes unexpectedly. That purple flying beast’s strength was definitely above the large black lizard Zhang Che had, and yet he slew it with a single arrow. What kind of strength was that?
At the same time, they were filled with curiosity towards Zhang Che’s Fallen Star bow. How much of a draw weight did it have to kill a three-star dark gold-quality exotic beast with a single shot?
Faced with their looks of worship, Zhang Che chuckled, “Haha, it’s all luck! That shot was basically all luck. It actually flew into its nostril and struck its brain! Otherwise, how could it have died in one shot to an attack of such a degree?”
Zhang Che thought to himself, -I’m not lying through my teeth. In the first place, this fellow was indeed killed by the Tian Yin Squad’s crossbow bolt, shot through the nostril and struck its brain.-
Zheng Hongru and the others dropped their jaws after hearing that. They exchanged glances with one another, unable to say a word.
-No wonder… How could it be possible for such a powerful exotic beast to die to one shot…-
-Brother Che’s luck is truly unbelievable!-
But wasn’t this even better? When everyone could finally employ the beast cards they newly obtained four days later, the team’s strength would directly rise by more than double! It wouldn’t be a problem to obtain one of the top ranks in this hunting competition!
Chaotic footsteps rumbled towards them at high speeds. A squad of soldiers responsible for aid arrived with grave expressions, riding their respective subdued beasts. The soldier in the front asked hastily, “What happened, where’s that powerful flying beast from earlier?”
Zheng Hongru and the others pointed at Zhang Che simultaneously, who had already walked into the large crater. Zhang Che was holding a dark golden beast card in his hand, the dark golden luster seemingly threatening to blind those who looked upon it.
The soldiers were in disbelief. However, after hearing the descriptions of the event that unfolded, they could only lament inwardly that this examinee known as Zhang Che, his luck was truly a little too heaven-defyingly good.
At the same time, they were also filled with interest towards Zhang Che’s Fallen Star bow. After receiving his agreement, each of them attempted to draw the bow.
In the end, these soldiers were embarrassed. Despite mustering all the strength they could gather, they could only draw the bow to less than a tenth of its limit.
-Tsk, tsk. So this type of warrior born with herculean strength really exists…-
