Chapter 185: A Terrifying World
Translator: Exodus Tales Editor: Exodus Tales
Edited by Aelryinth
Zhang Che’s expression was ugly to the extreme.
He suddenly came to a realization that he seemed to have arrived at an extremely horrifying world.
The creatures flying in the sky were strong enough to force the Purple Jade Condor into becoming a coward, and those fighting on the ground were able to cause an earthquake-like commotion.
-Luckily we aren’t by the sea or something. Wouldn’t there be even more huge and horrifying fellows around otherwise?- Just as this thought was born, Zhang Che turned his head to look around. He froze on the spot before he could fully check out his surroundings.
At the far end of his sight on the left, what was that endless spread of blue…
Zhang Che nearly cried out. -I was only thinking about it; there’s really a sea here!-
Although he couldn’t tell for sure whether that was a sea, it was a huge lake at the very least. He couldn’t see the end of it.
Suddenly, a large head broke out of the water’s surface in the distance. The long neck connected to it was more than a few dozen meters in length.
No tears came out even if he wanted to cry…
-Did I really come to a foreign world… or arrive in the Jurassic period?-
The problem was, were the dinosaurs in the Jurassic period really so powerful? Zhang Che deeply doubted it.
The huge creatures were still engaged in a fierce fight not far away. Large trees were knocked down from time to time, rustling sounds were heard as the trees fell. The terrifying figures produced loud banging sounds when they rammed into one another. It felt like they were ringing in Zhang Che’s heart, bringing his heart rate up frantically.
-This really is a terrifying world!-
Zhang Che knew this was only a psychological effect. He hurriedly took a few deep breaths, and as expected, his heart rate calmed down a lot.

A loud splashing sound rang out from the body of water far away. A whale-like creature broke out of the water surface, its body leapt into the air, reaching a few dozen meters above water, drawing an arc of about a hundred meters in length before it fell back into the water.
Zhang Che could clearly see that this huge creature was about fifty meters in length, its skin black, like a submarine.
He fell into silence.
He crawled down the tree trunk silently and sat down under the tree, hugging his knees, his eyes empty.
-I’m finished… I won’t return be able to return… I can’t return in this life now…-
Zhang Che suddenly felt like crying.
In the forest some distance away, the fierce battle was still ongoing. Only the heavens knew where they found so much energy, to still be fighting after so long.
While this was ongoing, the water in the distance suddenly grew louder. The wave-crashing sounds travelled over a few kilometers, reaching Zhang Che’s ears clearly.
It went without saying that there must be some huge creature hunting on the other side as well, causing a huge commotion.
Zhang Che suddenly turned his head and looked at the unusually quiet Gluttony Monkey. He asked softly, “Frisky monkey, go find some more fruits. I’m really thirsty, but I don’t dare to go find water.”
The frisky monkey nodded, and his nimble body quickly disappeared from Zhang Che’s sight.
Zhang Che wasn’t worried about the frisky monkey’s safety at all. Although that fellow was small in size, those huge unknown creatures would probably be uninterested in chasing him after seeing him. That little bit of meat wouldn’t be enough to fill the gaps in their teeth, anyway.
-Eh? If I think of it this way, I shouldn’t be in much danger either, right?- Zhang Che suddenly felt inspired for a moment, before immediately hanging his head dispiritedly again.
There’s no way he could go risk himself like that. What if the huge creatures found him fascinating and wanted to try a new flavor for a change?

It was just like how humans would try eating bees, pupae, grasshoppers, and tiny little insects like that.
While Zhang Che’s imagination ran wild, the frisky monkey came running back holding a bundle of assorted fruits again.
Zhang Che immediately wiped the worries in his mind away, his saliva about to overflow.
He didn’t have any water to drink, but having some fruits to fill his stomach wasn’t bad, either.
However, this time, after the frisky monkey handed the fruits over to Zhang Che, he gestured for some time and pointed in the direction he picked the fruits from, expressing a bunch of different expressions on his ugly face.
“You’re saying, you discovered the energy fluctuations of a spiritual herb in that direction?”
Naturally, Zhang Che couldn’t understand what the frisky monkey meant with his gestures. He only understood what the frisky monkey was thinking via their spiritual link.
“Zhizhi, zhizhi!” the frisky monkey immediately answered excitedly, his round eyes filled with anticipation.
Zhang Che pursed his lips, “Don’t even think about it! Look at where we’re at; even if there really is a spiritual herb around, do you think that’s something we can set our eyes on?”
The frisky monkey rolled his eyes around, and his head drooped, no longer feeling excited.
Thus, the two of them sat on the grass under the tree silently, feasting on the big bundle of fruits, as if to vent all their unhappiness by eating.
When they were done eating the bundle of fruits, Zhang Che finally felt the dryness in his mouth was much better. There wouldn’t be a problem even if he couldn’t find a portable water source for now.
Alas, by the time he finished the fruits, he felt a sense of hunger suddenly rising from his stomach. Left without a choice, he could only command the Rock Tortoise to spit out a bundle of compressed biscuits, and he began chewing on it silently, his face covered in tears.
In such an environment, he didn’t dare to eat meat. Would he get out alive if the meat’s fragrance spread out and attracted the powerful creatures from land, air, and sea?
On the other hand, the frisky monkey seemed to be very interested in the compressed biscuit. He tried to grab two packets of them, but his hand was smacked away by Zhang Che.
“Shoo, shoo, I didn’t prepare much rations. If we finished them all, wouldn’t I starve to death here?”
“Jiji…” the frisky monkey laughed mockingly and retracted his hand. However, his round eyes were still fixed on the dry rations in Zhang Che’s hand, not shifting the slightest bit.
“Ah, forget it,” Zhang Che suddenly sighed. He handed a piece of compressed biscuit to the frisky monkey unenthusiastically, “Just eat. We’re trapped here, unable to leave anyway. No matter how much food we have, we’ll starve to death in the end. Might as well die an early death. Let’s fill our stomach first.”
The master and pet sat opposite one another, and they finished the bag of compressed biscuits that weighed nearly ten kilograms.
Just as he wiped away the crumbs around his mouth, Zhang Che couldn’t help but stare into space, “Hmm? Why is it all quiet over there now?”
It seemed the fierce battle between the two unknown huge creatures had stopped. The forest was silent; not any sound could be heard.
-Could it be that the victor has been decided?
-Thinking about it, this is very likely. It’s been almost half an hour. No matter how powerful a creature is, they shouldn’t be able to fight for such a long time, right?
-Should I sneak over and take a look?-
This idea overwhelmed Zhang Che’s brain the moment it popped up. He couldn’t resist it even if he wanted to!

A-Live AI
The year is 2247. For almost two hundred years Sentient AI research has been banned. Everyone knew this, and yet no one has ever given up on finding the perfect setup for it. Restricted AI are rare, but possible to get ahold of if you have the money and the clout to get through the law for it. Especially when it deals with the military. Alfred Homis is an engineer and has spent the last three years working for the United Terran Military's Research and Exploration Department. Specifically to help build a 'shackled' AI who's prime directive was to explore potentially habitable worlds. Worlds that are far cheaper to colonize and add to the United Terran Directorate's fold than terraforming. During the AI's maiden voyage things go horribly wrong, taking Alfred Homis along for the ride. Thrown into a parallel universe where the laws of physics are just a little messed up, Alfred finds himself trapped inside the very machine he'd helped to build. Add magic, hostile fantasy creatures, and two different pantheons of 'Gods' to the mix and things get even more complicated. Oh, and an invasion between universes to boot. But that's just all in a days work though for Alfred, the AI Lord. Authors Note: Hi guys! Long time no see. And yes, I know that's all on me. But I blame life for that. Anyway, this is my new work, and I hope you guys enjoy it! The chapters are a little shorter than I'd previously posted in my other stories, but I cannot say that I have the same amount of time or energy to write them like that anymore. Sorry about that. Still, some warnings: There is cursing in this story. I am not going to edit it out. There will be sexual content later. Blood, gore and cruel depictions are all planned. If that isn't your thing, I'd suggest you turn back now. There is also my dry, and often not-so-funny sense of humor. And oh, it's all in first person gain. Haha. I just tend to write better that way. If none of that bothers you, then enjoy the read! Feel free to comment, point out mistakes, or make suggestions! Reviews are nice too, but please lay off the criticism until the story gets good and going. Thank you. Note 1: Some edits to the synopsis.
