Chapter 215: Another Legend

Whoosh! Zhang Che saw a blur flash past. The Cold Abyss Flood Dragon had never shown such speed before, pouncing towards the exotic beast. He opened his mouth, inhaling, and the spattered flesh and blood of the Darkice Horned Python were like metal dust attracted to a magnet, flooding into the Cold Abyss Flood Dragon’s mouth.
“You glutton, come back!” Zhang Che hurriedly yelled, his eyes glaring, afraid that danger would befall this guy.
The Darkice Horned Python was a three-star dark gold-quality exotic beast. Although it didn’t have a skill, its strength wasn’t something the Cold Abyss Flood Dragon could match up to. Despite its dismembered body, it wasn’t to be underestimated.
The Cold Abyss Flood Dragon didn’t return.
After swallowing a large mouthful of the fallen pieces of the Darkice Horned Python’s flesh and blood, the Cold Abyss Flood Dragon’s demeanor suddenly changed. It widened its mouth and produced an irresistible, powerful suction force.
The following scene almost left Zhang Che’s jaw dislocated from shock.
Under the effects of the powerful suction, endless blue blood gushed out of the two torn halves of the Darkice Horned Python, gathering and forming into a stream of blue blood, like a water pillar shot out of a high-pressured water tap. It all flowed quickly into the Cold Abyss Flood Dragon’s mouth.
“Where did that guy get so much blood from?” Zhang Che couldn’t help but be curious. Although the Darkice Horned Python was as thick as a water pail, and slightly over ten meters long, there should be a limit to the amount of its blood, right?
However, it seemed like the blue blood wouldn’t stop gushing out of the two halves of its body as the Cold Abyss Flood Dragon continued vacuuming it in. It truly left one in disbelief.
However, in the next moment, Zhang Che finally understood why.
It turned out that the blue fluid wasn’t blood at all!
As the Cold Abyss Flood Dragon sucked in ferociously, the two halves of the Darkice Horned Python’s body actually shrank at a degree visible to the naked eye. It was getting shorter!

That wasn’t blood at all, but the essence of the Darkice Horned Python. It was no wonder the water froze after the fluid dripped onto the lake’s surface!
Zhang Che finally understood why it had “great tonic for cold-attributed beasts” description in its characteristics. This thing wasn’t made of flesh and blood, but formed by the accumulation of the essence of fiendish dark ice.
It also explained why the Cold Abyss Flood Dragon would ignore Zhang Che’s commands and acted like he wouldn’t give in until he ate this exotic beast up!
The Darkice Horned Python was quickly losing the essence of fiendish dark ice in its body, leaving it greatly alarmed. It twisted its upper body, trying to swim deeper into the water. However, under the Cold Abyss Flood Dragon’s terrifying vacuum, it was unable to move as it willed, and was even being dragged closer to the Cold Abyss Flood Dragon.
Greatly astonished and furious, the Darkice Horned Python couldn’t care about its exhaustion and opened its mouth, breathing out a large mouthful of dark blue mist at the Cold Abyss Flood Dragon.
“Watch out, Hanming!” Zhang Che hurriedly shouted, alarmed.
However, the Cold Abyss Flood Dragon paid no heed to this. When the mass of dark blue frosty mist came towards him, he actually devoured it!
“This fellow is on SEED mode today!”¹
Zhang Che was finally at ease. He stood by the lake shore, watching as the Darkice Horned Python’s body grew smaller and smaller, struggling futilely.
—
Time slowly flowed by. The Darkice Horned Python’s dismembered lower body became smaller and smaller. In the end, it turned into a mass of translucent, shimmering blue fluid, and was devoured by the Cold Abyss Flood Dragon.
The Darkice Horned Python let out a sorrowful, angry roar. Its body melted, turning into a deep blue ball of water, spinning as it shot towards the Cold Abyss Flood Dragon.
Everywhere the water ball passed, it was like the space itself was frozen. Countless tiny blue crystals of ice formed in its surroundings. It snowballed into a blue crystal ball with a diameter of over a meter, smashing towards the Cold Abyss Flood Dragon, the wind whistling behind it.

Zhang Che didn’t give any warnings. From what the Cold Abyss Flood Dragon had shown today, he seemed fully capable of handling this.
As expected, when he saw that ball of crystal shooting his way, the Cold Abyss Flood Dragon wasn’t shocked, but happy. His mouth suddenly opened twice as wide, taking it head on, and swallowed the icy sphere.
“No wonder this fellow dared to go against this Darkice Horned Python from the start. I thought he was really not afraid of death for the sake of food. It turns out that the Darkice Horned Python’s attacks aren’t threatening to him at all!” Zhang Che couldn’t help but lament. It was only then he remembered that none of his pets were foolhardy creatures… well, except for the Steel-Armored Tyrannosaurus.
Steel-Armored Tyrannosaurus: -I just took a ten thousand damage critical hit for master daddy. I’ll die right away if I don’t get ten tons of roasted meat as compensation…-
The Cold Abyss Flood Dragon, having swallowed the ball of crystal, suddenly let out a pained roar. He felt as if a turbulent river was running wild in his body, and he began to swell and shrink violently, like someone inhaling and exhaling from a balloon, over and over.
-This glutton must have had too much to eat!- Zhang Che’s heart tightened. He hurriedly recalled the Cold Abyss Flood Dragon back into his spiritual sea with a wave of his hand.
After returning to Zhang Che’s spiritual sea, the mass of light that represented the Cold Abyss Flood Dragon was no longer silver, which reflected his quality. Instead, it was now deep blue, and seemed very unstable.
-Luckily I have the rainbow crystal…- Just as that thought entered his head, the rainbow crystal high up in his spiritual sea went into motion, as expected! It instantly radiated rainbow rays, directly forming a resplendent rainbow pillar, enveloping the Cold Abyss Flood Dragon’s deep blue mass of light.
Zhang Che let out a long sigh of relief. -We’re good now. I wonder how much the Cold Abyss Flood Dragon will grow from this? Gold-quality is a given; perhaps it can even rise to dark gold?-
He decided to sit down by the lake shore, quietly waiting.
——
Time slowly ticked away. The rainbow crystal finally stopped emitting the rainbow pillar of light after about half an hour. The Cold Abyss Flood Dragon within it had completely turned into a rainbow cocoon of light.
Zhang Che couldn’t be bothered to wait any longer. He brought his subdued beasts and pets along and headed further into the valley, wanting to scout the area. He wanted to see whether there were any more powerful exotic beasts hiding in this valley.
However, other than the group of giant salamander-like trash exotic beasts that escaped to the end of the valley, Zhang Che didn’t discover anything else.
“A man who is never content is like a snake trying to swallow an elephant. The Cold Abyss Flood Dragon already gained such huge benefits, and yet I’m still thinking of more. Really…” Zhang Che shook his head. He walked back out from the depths of the valley. Just as he was about to continue scouting further, the Cold Abyss Flood Dragon’s rainbow cocoon of light quickly dimmed. Afterwards, it collapsed inward, revealing a five-colored mass of light.
“I thought it’d be dark gold at best!” Zhang Che was ecstatic. As expected, the results were surprising whenever the rainbow crystal made its move. It was like that for the Purple Crystal Tortoise last time, and this time, for the Cold Abyss Flood Dragon.
-So, what is this thing, exactly?- Zhang Che was no longer so naive to think that the rainbow crystal was simply some natural treasure with special powers he happened to dig out from a rock.

The Head That Wears The Crown
It's a tale as old as time. Boy goes to funeral. Boy gets sucked into a different world. Boy has to lead a settlement. Boy has to lead a settlement? Boy has to lead a settlement. This is a story about that settlement, and some other stuff. Maybe. Disclaimer: Not sure if it qualifies enough for a gore tag. There is a description of someone's death somewhere in this, but I don't think it is descriptive enough to justify a gore tag. Disclaimer part deux: I initially started writing this as background for another story but got so into it I just ended fleshing it out a bit. Disclaimer part tres: People love reading disclaimers don't they? It's why I've included so many. They're just for you. Disclaimer part four: I know, this is getting egregious. You're starting to find it less funny. Just wait till the twentieth disclaimer, it will start being funny again. Disclaimer part five: I'm kidding, this is the last one. I don't promise I'll read every comment or message, but I certainly welcome your feedback. Disclaimer part six: I lied, it wasn't the last one. I wrote this story without breaking it down into chapters. It just goes, that means that the chapter ends when it ends, not when there is a convenient break in the story. That means that it's very annoying for you as a reader since chapters can end mid sentence. Hah! Sucker! Disclaimer part seven: Get ready for slow updates. Who knows when this will continue. Toss it on read later and come back in fifty years. Disclaimer part eight: Cover Photo by Arthur Ogleznev on Unsplash
