1: The Iaspi in the beast’s species was actually Jasper (referring to the mineral or gemstone, just wiki it), and although as you can tell leopardi was derived from the word leopard, the reference in its name was actually to a beast in Chinese mythology, the Zheng. There is no translation for Zheng into English, but its appearance is said to resemble a leopard, with five tails and a single horn on its head. Now, if I just kept it this way, you would get Jasper Zheng, which sounds ridiculous as a beast’s species and more like a Chinese guy’s name, so I decided to name it in Latin.
