Chapter 407: Great Minds Think Alike
Translator: Exodus Tales Editor: Exodus Tales
Edited by Aelryinth
The flying beast Miyazaki Musashi was riding was a peculiarly-shaped bird.
The big bird’s head resembled half a bitter gourd. It had no feathers, but was covered with multiple lumps of meat of various sizes. Its pupils were vertical; at first glance it seemed like it was filled with a sense of evil.
Its crocodile-like huge jaws added some savagery to its appearance.
The big bird’s neck was like a snake; long and slender, and covered in a layer of red and black ring-shaped scales.
Its body was a little more normal-looking. There wasn’t much difference from ordinary birds, only that it had three short and thick talons below its belly, and the tip of its talons were shining with a deep blue coating. One look and you knew they contained lethal poison.
The big bird’s flying speed wasn’t high, but it definitely wasn’t slow either, almost reaching three hundred meters per second, extremely close to the speed of sound.
A strong wind blew against Miyazaki Musashi. His clothing fluttered violently, producing loud noises, but he didn’t show any signs of discomfort on his face.
From the minute rise and fall of his chest, one could tell that the wind of this level wasn’t able to affect his breathing at all.
The superhuman physique of a high-tier beastmaster was displayed to the fullest here.
The sable-like little beast in Miyazaki Musashi’s embrace kept sniffing, providing him with the direction to go in.
“Zhang Che, you won’t get away this time! I’ll repay you with ten times the humiliation you gave to our Miyazaki Clan!” Miyazaki Musashi’s eyes narrowed, a cold, dreadful glint shining faintly in his pupils.
——-
About three thousand kilometers to the southwest of this beat world, a steep mountain range was divided by a few rivers. The terrain was extremely complicated.
The river flowed rapidly. Countless vapors rose, forming a layer of mist of uneven density in this area. The mist was shaped by the chaotic air currents between the mountains, flowing around the area, making it look like a paradise.
At present, Zhang Che was riding on the Darkfiend Abyssal Dragon, hovering high up in the air. He had an apprehensive look on his face.
On his way here, there were plenty of dangerous areas marked on the map. In order to avoid the same mistakes from before, Zhang Che didn’t let the Darkfiend Abyssal Dragon fly too quickly, in case that fellow didn’t recognize the route here, too, and directly flew back in a straight line. That would be a tragedy.
“But, the exotic beast population in this area is really incredibly dense! There are all kinds of species from the land, air, and water!”
It was precisely due to the complicated terrain in this area that all kinds of exotic beasts were present here. As a result, the exotic beast population here was considerably denser than in other areas.

To Zhang Che, this was of course a piece of great news!
As long as there weren’t any exotic beasts so strong that he couldn’t win against here, then the more exotic beasts were here, the better for him! That way, his soul force points would accumulate faster, allowing him to reach Tier Seven earlier!
“Well, let’s start harvesting the experience points here!”
Although Zhang Che really disliked this kind of one-sided slaughter, he had no choice. He could only use this kind of method to hunt exotic beasts if he wanted to raise his beastmaster tier.
If there were other methods to break through, of course he wouldn’t want to waste his time doing this!
With that extra time, he could stay in Bei Du and accompany Miss Tienan. How satisfying would that be!?
Moreover, he wasn’t considered weak. It would be very pleasant for him to specifically go looking for mid-tier legend or even epic-quality exotic beasts to hunt for their beast cards, too.
Alas, there was no way out. If he wanted to become stronger, he could only break through to high-tier beastmaster as soon as possible. It was only that way that he would gain the strength to slay divine-quality exotic beasts, and gain the ability to wield the highest quality beast cards.
After lamenting inside, Zhang Che summoned all his powerful babies as usual. Everyone shared the work, forging their way forward in this extremely complicated area through the land, air, and water.
Since the Darkfiend Abyssal Dragon was the only one among Zhang Che’s subdued beasts and pets who could deal with water-based exotic beasts, Zhang Che dismounted the dragon, liberating him, and instead rode on the Purple Jade Condor to charge ahead.
In any case, by relying on the scarlet sword and the Horned Electric Python, his strength was not inferior to a mid-tier epic-quality exotic beast. He no longer had to borrow the combat strength of Original Combat Body-type subdued beasts, and could take action on his own. It didn’t make much difference what kind of mount he was using.
The exotic beasts in this area had no idea that a bunch of violent brigands had charged in. Not only were they going to disrupt their carefree lives, they even wanted to take their lives!
His group of babies charged in from a few directions, and Zhang Che rode the Purple Jade Condor, flying between the mountains and rivers, holding the Mr. Horny in his hand… Zhang Che creased his brow. He looked at the Horned Electric Python in his hand, thinking to himself, -Damn it, why do I always refer to this thing as Mr. Horny? I must have really been influenced by those few restricted period videos I watched when I was young!-
Zhang Che shook his head. In order to calm himself, he focused his attention on the golden vortex, entering that profound state. It was like he activated the view of god, taking in the view of everything around him in a three hundred and sixty degree sphere.

Doing that, not only did he manage to forget about Mr. Horny, he also discovered the few mid-tier exotic beasts near him, and he sent a few bolts of lightning from the Horned Electric Python at them.
A few consecutive rumblings of thunder were heard. Zhang Che successfully slew the exotic beasts, but at the same time he had also alarmed the exotic beasts in the area. They immediately ran through the mountains, and the aerial exotic beasts immediately took to the skies from the watery areas or woods below, scattering.
“What a move of beating the grass to scare the snake! I’m too freaking smart!” Zhang Che didn’t think he’d get such an effect after using the Horned Electric Python to attack. He immediately broke out into a wide smile.
Now he didn’t have to take the time to go looking for them!
Zhang Che didn’t bother with the exotic beasts that were running around mindlessly in the mountains.
His subdued beasts and pets were mostly comprised of land-based creatures. Once those exotic beasts showed themselves, of course they could forget about getting away.
The aerial exotic beasts flying around in the sky, however, were different. Since the Darkfiend Abyssal Dragon had to concentrate on dealing with the water-based exotic beasts in the network of waters around here, Zhang Che could only give chase himself on the Purple Jade Condor.
Although the Purple Jade Condor was much slower than the Darkfiend Abyssal Dragon, fortunately Zhang Che could attack in a three hundred-meter radius with the scarlet sword, and he didn’t let too many aerial exotic beasts get away.
The whole area immediately turned to chaos, cries ringing out everywhere.
——-
Miyazaki Musashi was flying on his strange bird. While flying southwest, he furrowed his brow deeply, feeling suspicious inside. “Why did this kid come to such a dangerous area? Is he not afraid of dying?”
After advancing about a thousand-some kilometers, Miyazaki Musashi had faintly sensed three extremely dangerous areas. Even he didn’t dare to face the powerful existences inside those areas casually. How did Zhang Che, a mere mid-tier beastmaster, find the guts to come here?
However, that kid was obviously not simple, either. He actually avoided the territories of those ferocious creatures cleverly three times in a row, not alarming them. It seemed like he had a subdued beast that excelled in sensing dangers.
As such, Miyazaki Musashi became even more curious of Zhang Che’s intent on this trip.
“Could it be that there is some treasure in these lands? It’d be best if that is true. I’ll have you lose both your fortune and life, to make up for the losses our Miyazaki Clan suffered!”
Finally, after flying southwest for heavens-knew-how-long, a spread of mountain range with many rivers appeared in Miyazaki Musashi’s sight. The little beast in his arms suddenly cried out a few times excitedly.
“He’s right ahead!” Miyazaki Musashi raised his brow, a trace of killing intent shining in his eyes. He immediately had his mount fly lower, sticking close to the forest below and going forward.
On his way, Miyazaki Musashi saw many traces of combat. There were even faint blood stains left on the scene.
Blood stains wouldn’t remain after the death of exotic beasts. So, this meant that… either Zhang Che or his subdued beasts were injured?
This was indeed the best news he could get. He only hoped that Zhang Che wouldn’t die so easily!
A smile hung on the corners of Miyazaki Musashi’s lips. In the next moment, however, he couldn’t help but freeze on the spot.
“Wh-why are there exotic beast corpses!?” Miyazaki Musashi furrowed his brow. He subconsciously had his strange bird slow down.
Something must be amiss when there was an anomaly. Facing this unknown phenomenon, of course he had to be more cautious.
He never suspected this was the handiwork of a pet. When Zhang Che returned from the beast world yesterday and crossed the spatial gateway, he was all alone with no pets at his side!
Now that large amounts of exotic beast corpses had appeared here, and judging by the degree of mutilation of those corpses, the exotic beasts had obviously met with extremely terrifying attacks.
After thinking for a long while, a light shone in Miyazaki Musashi’s eyes.
“Like I thought, why would that kid come all the way here? It looks like there is really some extraordinary treasure here being born into the world, and it gave rise to a huge battle between exotic beasts. This kid is here to pick up scraps!”
He felt that this scrap would eventually enter his pocket!
(TLN: Exotic beasts and pets will leave corpses and blood stains behind after they kill others, while subdued beasts killing exotic beasts will make the exotic beasts turn into streaks of light, not leaving any blood behind.)
—–
It went without saying that Zhang Che didn’t know what Miyazaki Musashi thought. As of now, he and his babies had slaughtered most of the mid-tier or higher exotic beasts within several kilometers. Zhang Che narrowed his eyes, surveying the surrounding steep mountains and complicated network of rivers.
“This kind of terrain is usually where spiritual qi gathers. Since so many exotic beasts are resting here, it should be easy to grow some decent spiritual herbs, right?”
Zhang Che felt this was more likely the more he thought about it. Afterwards, he slapped his forehead in frustration!
-Damn it, I forgot about this yesterday. What a huge loss!-
Thinking of that, Zhang Che didn’t continue advancing. Instead, he summoned the Gluttony Monkey and had him use his skill, searching the surrounding five-thousand-meter radius.
Unknown to either side, both parties actually thought of spiritual herbs based on the things they saw under different circumstances…

The Stars Have Eyes
The universe was a vast, empty, dark, and uncaring place. Then life happened, and the universe was changed forever. Only a teeny-tiny bit, but definitely different. Then again, the universe changes a teeny-tiny bit every second of every day. For instance, if someone were to get off the couch and randomly drink a glass of milk? Bam! One less glass of milk in the universe. Changed forever. Well, excluding any time-travel shenanigans, but anyone who puts a big old hole in the time-space continuum just to un-drink a glass of milk should really reevaluate their priorities. Unless, of course, they were attempting to prevent some massive catastrophe vis-a-vis said glass of milk. Such a scenario is by no means impossible, as one should never underestimate the importance of calcium. Another important tip for any life forms out there is to keep things in perspective. Some look at the vastness of creation in relation to themselves and go, ‘Man, this sucks!’ These people really need to narrow their focus. Sure, they will never affect anything happening on the other end of the galaxy, but so what? That’s way the heck over there, where it doesn’t matter. Therefore, in order to maintain a healthy mindset, it is important to narrow one’s perspective to the things and people that affect them, and that they can affect in turn. But what happens if one is an unfathomable cosmic being from beyond the veil of reality? What happens when such an existence is capable of influencing entire swathes of the universe just by its presence? A creature such as Magh'rathlak the Observer? That particular entity is only about average as far as reality-warping creatures from the dawn of time go, so its influence over the fabric of reality is rather limited. And it still struggles to keep things in perspective. That, among other things, is why it decided to narrow its worldview a bit by compressing the maddening vastness of its being into a single corporeal form. Magh'rathlak had never tried such a feat, but that wasn't about to stop it. After all, how hard could being human possibly be?
