Chapter 405: What Was the Situation?
Translator: Nyoi-Bo Studio Editor: Nyoi-Bo Studio
“What did you talk to yourself for?” asked Wang Mingbao as he heard Wang Yao talking to the system.
“Are there any well-known doctors in town?” asked Wang Yao without thinking.
“Well-known doctor?” said Wang Mingbao with surprise. “Why are you asking? Aren’t you a well-known doctor yourself?”
“Me? No, I’m not. I mean any well-known doctors recognized by the government,” said Wang Yao.
“Oh, those doctors. You mean those so-called experts on TV all the time? Or whose pictures we’re sticking on the wall?” said Wang Mingbao.
“Hmmm, no. I mean doctors selected by medical authority,” said Wang Yao.
“Well, I’m not actually sure what you are talking about. Why are you asking me about this?” asked Wang Mingbao.
“I’m just curious,” said Wang Yao.
“You can ask Pan Jun when we get back to town,” said Wang Mingao.
“Okay,” said Wang Yao.
The two of them were kept in a clinical room. There were guards outside the room. Wang Yao and Wang Mingbao felt they were like prisoners.
“I don’t feel well,” said Wang Mingbao.
“Just be patient, I think someone will bring us out soon,” said Wang Yao.
“Who will do that?” asked Wang Mingbao.
“Dr. Long,” said Wang Yao.
“Him?” said Wang Mingbao.
“Yes, he should have been aware that there was something wrong with him,” said Wang Yao.
Dr. Long had, in fact, become aware of something wrong with him. He realized this because he noticed his legs had gotten out of control after very few steps. He tended to fall a lot, which really scared the hell out of him. However, he was an experienced doctor. He had seen so many patients with different medical conditions. After calming down, he asked his assistant to bring him a wheelchair.
“Chief, what’s wrong with you?” His assistant was surprised when looking at him.
Even though only one day had passed, Dr. Long’s face was already swelling up like a balloon, as if he was beaten with a bag over his head. In addition, he looked exhausted, as if he aged three years in one day.
“Let’s get out of here first,” said Dr. Long.
“Okay,” said his assistant.
The assistant helped Dr. Long get into the wheelchair, then got him into the car.
“Where are we going, Chief?” asked the assistant.
“Bingzhou,” said Dr. Long.
“Okay,” said his assistant.
Dr. Long wanted to figure out what happened to him as soon as possible. He wanted to know why his body suddenly lost control. As for Wang Yao and Wang Mingbao, who had already been taken into quarantine, he temporarily forgot about them.

Ding! Om!
Wang Yao’s phone rang.
“Hello, Dr. Wang.” It was Chen Boyuan.
“Hello,” said Wang Yao.
“Have you been back from Qinzhou?” asked Chen Boyuan.
“Not yet, I have a small problem here,” said Wang Yao as he walked to the window and looked outside.
“Small problem? What happened? Do you need me to do anything?” asked Chen Boyuan.
“Not now, I’ll just wait a little while longer,” said Wang Yao.
“Okay,” said Wang Yao.
After hanging up the phone, Chen Boyuan walked back and forth in the room for a while, then went out.
“Professor Chen, I just heard a news that Wang Yao and his friend have been put into quarantine as per a request from Dr. Long,” said Chen Jingzhi’s assistant.
“What!?” Chen Jingzhi was dazed for a moment after hearing the news. “Because Dr. Long suspects they are infected?”
“Yeah,” said his assistant.
“Nonsense. They had been cleaned before leaving the village. Why should they be isolated? Obviously Dr. Long is abusing his power,” said Chen Jingzhi.
“There is another thing. I heard Dr. Long went to Bingzhou today. He’s sick,” said his assistant.
“Sick? I hope he hasn’t got infected,” said Chen Jingzhi.
“I don’t think so. He went to the town hospital in Jia County because he kept falling. He came out of the hospital in a wheelchair,” said his assistant.
The news of Dr. Long being ill travelled fast, especially in the medical field. Dr. Long and Chen Jingzhi were both prominent doctors, who attracted a lot of attention. Dr. Long’s visit to Jia County hospital was soon spread out by some observant and conscientious person.
“How come he suddenly went to the hospital and needed a wheelchair?” asked Chen Jingzhi. “By the way, where are Wang Yao and his friend being held?”
“In the isolated clinical room of Jia County hospital,” said the assistant.
“Okay, I’ll go and see them,” said Chen Jingzhi.
Soon he arrived and immediately went to see Wang Yao and Wang Mingbao in the isolated clinical room.
“I’m sorry.” He apologized as soon as he saw Wang Yao.
“You don’t need to apologize to us. You are not the person who put us here,” said Wang Yao with a smile.
Chen Jingzhi didn’t say much. He contacted relevant personnel right away and signed Wang Yao and Wang Mingbao out of the isolated clinical room.
“Thank you,” said Wang Yao.
Then Chen Jingzhi invited Wang Yao to his office.
“The water grass you gave us had proved to be effective in treating the infection. We’ve started to grow the water grass in a big scale. It’s entirely thanks to you that we have been able to control and contain the disease,” said Chen Jingzhi.

He had no doubt that Wang Yao and Wang Mingbao hadn’t been infected, because Wang Yao was the one who gave him the water grass.
“Glad it worked,” said Wang Yao.
Since the department has started to grow the water grass on a large scale, it would only be a matter of time to stop the disease from spreading.
“Can I ask…how did you find out that the water grass could treat the disease?” asked Chen Jingzhi.
“Hmmm, it’s a long story,” said Wang Yao, smiling.
He briefly talked about why he came to the village in the first place, how he found that the water in the wells had a problem, and how he found that the water grass might be able to treat those infected people.
“Sorry,” said Chen Jingzhi after keeping silent for a while. He looked serious and apologized again.
“Why did you apologize again?” asked Wang Yao.
“I’m sincerely sorry because I misunderstood you at the beginning,” said Chen Jingzhi. Wang Yao was surprised to heard it.
“Misunderstand me? Why?” asked Wang Yao.
“Let’s not talk about this. I really admire what you have done,” said Chen Jingzhi.
Wang Yao’s face turned red. He was a bit embarrassed.
“One more thing, that Dr. Long provided us with a formula, which was also effective in treating the disease. If I’m not wrong, the formula should have come from you,” said Chen Jingzhi.
“Yes,” said Wang Yao.
“Hmmm, that guy is really shameless,” said Chen Jingzhi.
“Right, I also think he’s shameless, and he’s got what he deserved,” said Wang Mingbao.
“Hmmm, got what he deserved?” said Chen Jingzhi with confusion.
“Yes, did you know that that shameless old bastard stopped us on our way back after we had left the village, then invited us for dinner,” said Wang Mingbao.
“Dinner?” Chen Jingzhi was surprised, but he understood what had happened immediately. “Did he ask Dr. Wang for more formulas?”
“Exactly!” said Wang Mingbao, smiling.
“Seriously?” said Chen Jingzhi.
“Yes,” said Wang Mingbao.
“I think I underestimated him,” said Chen Jingzhi in disgust.
“What’s happening to him proves that even God can’t stand that shameless guy. So he’s got what he deserved,” said Wang Mingao.
“He went to the hospital because he invited you guys for dinner?” asked Chen Jingzhi.
“You know about that?” said Wang Mingbao.
“Yeah, I heard he came out of the hospital in a wheelchair today,” said Chen Jingzhi.
“Wheelchair? Hahaha!” Wang Mingbao laughed. He felt really happy. “Great! That’s great!” He couldn’t help clapping his hands.
“It’s a shame I didn’t see what he was like in the hospital. I wish I could ask him how he felt,” said Wang Mingbao.
“I suppose his condition is going to last for a while,” said Wang Yao.
“What do you want to do with the formula you gave him?” asked Chen Jingzhi.
Dr. Long had not only claimed ownership of the formula to the Health Department, but he had also said it in front of the media in a press conference. He had even negotiated a price with a large pharmaceutical company to sell the formula and they had reached an agreement. It was basically not possible for Wang Yao to claim the ownership of the formula.
“He will regret about what he has done,” said Wang Yao calmly.
“I hope so. Let me know if there is anything I can help,” said Chen Jingzhi.
“Thank you,” said Wang Yao.
He and Wang Mingbao stayed in Chen Jingzhi’s office for a short while longer before they left. They picked up their vehicle, then got on the way back home.
“We don’t see young men like him often these days,” Chen Jingzhi mused about Wang Yao.
“What? I don’t have anything wrong with me?” Dr. Long was shocked and scared after getting the result of medical examination.
“Yes, you seem to be quite healthy,” said the doctor.
“How? Why do I keep falling when I’m walking?” said Dr. Long.
“Well…” That doctor didn’t know how to answer the question.
“Fine, I’ll go to a different hospital,” said Dr. Long.
Long Yunfei felt depressed after he came out of the hospital.
This was Bingzhou hospital, one of the best hospitals in Qinzhou.
“Chief, why don’t you go to the provincial hospital?” Long Yunfei’s assistant didn’t understand why Long Yunfei didn’t take advantage of a better hospital and came instead to Bingzhou hospital.
“You don’t understand,” said Long Yunfei as he shook his hand.
He had worked for provincial hospital for years, then was transferred to the provincial centre for disease control and prevention. He had a strong connection with the provincial hospital, but also had enemies.
“Anyway, our priority is to find out what is wrong with your body,” said his assistant.
“Right, let’s go,” said Long Yunfei.
It had started to get dark outside.
Wang Yao had driven the car onto the highway.
“Should we keep going or find a place to stay overnight?” asked Wang Mingbao.
“I don’t mind either way,” said Wang Yao.

From the Final World
I have lived a long, long time. Longer than the universe knows; longer than any star has seen or traveling light records. My memories; that is all that is left that knows that length, and that which was seen within it. Then again, that is all that ever did. When I am gone, it will be forgotten, a truth and a history lost forever no matter who or what tries to find it. I think that is why I write this now. A record, or a lament, of the most significant being of all time. It is a prideful exaltation of endless triumph, or the dread condemnation of infinite evil. I don’t know which; I shall leave it for others to judge. I could explain further, of course. I could list the sins that have been committed, the deeds that have been done. Yet for now, I believe this is enough. Her story will speak for itself. About the good, and evil, in the heart of a single girl burdened with more than her fair share. And how she reacted to it. So, I will tell her story. Of gods and devils, mortals and monsters, of legends long forgotten and civilizations long turned to dust. And in the end, I hope she knows herself, whether it is salvation, or destruction, she should receive.

Birth of an AntiHero
AntiHero's FIRST REWRITE IN THE WORKS - thanks!! :] EDIT 2/28/22 - sorry, health problems right now, but I will post after rewriting the first 80-90,000 words or so and start fresh from there! Expect the change to be uploaded before summer! So long as I can keep using my hands, that is~! ^_^ X] This story will indeed get fleshed out as my vision improves for the better. But I feel the need to emphasize that a lot of parts are written in improvised comic book format as my primary writing style, and this first book is actually the entry point and starting novel for an entire very vast series I am in the works of developing. Many side characters here will eventually be main characters with there own stories; long or short. But this one particularly will be focused and centralized around Noel. Because of this, I do plan to leave the introduction for side characters as still having a special flow for readers to witness a tad of their background, so keep that in mind after my 'obviously many' rewrites from now and going into the future! Sorry for the troubles! I will improve on my style and implementation of the story!(Although I DO plan to keep parts as 'play style' or rather, comic book style, since I find it easier for certain dialogue instances as well as the fact that the novel is inspired by that 'feeling' you get while reading comic books. But my style is still evolving, you were warned!) Thank you! - Noel Tyler Malierano. He's the youngest 'son' to receive approval from 'The Malierano Family': A Criminal Organization of hitmen and hitwomen that specialize in killing, even maintaining success within a vastly superpowered society. Noel finally manages to complete his training as the newest 'Elite' killer his family created...but, there's just one problem - He doesn't want to kill! Come along and delve into a society of conflicting morals through the eyes of a boy, desperately searching for a new path to follow. Can he even manage to free himself from his father's engrained teachings and ideals? Conversely, will killing prove a lot more difficult to ignore? --- --> Thank you very much for reading! It would be helpful for me if you all consider leaving me a comment or an inbox suggestion, a review or even a full rating wherever AND whenever you believe I need to improve on anything or if something I wrote irked you! I appreciate EVERYONE that comes to read my story, however I DO want to improve my work as a writer. I hope all of you who don't like my work will let me know somehow, so I can edit and IMPROVE my story as a whole! Thank you everyone for your time! --- JUST TO NOTE!! When a character has a cultural name like, say, a Japanese or Russian name, that is because that character IS Japanese or Russian! They don't have to be FULL of one ethnicity either - sometimes they will be mixed. This story mainly takes place on an artificial continent where all countries have sent over their respective talents, meaning characters of ALL cultures and ethnic backgrounds will show hints of that in their names. Please don't assume I'm just randomly naming characters names that don't match them. And feel free to talk to me about whatever in my story troubles you - no matter how small! I love to improve. ^-^ X] --- Just to note: Characters will slowly grow as time passes. Slow pace. THANKS for reading! Enjoy! :] --- Decided to post 2 chapters every Tuesday and Friday instead of taking a small break, but I MAY upload once in a while on different days, such as Sundays, in addition to those two. :]
