The Chairman of the Lotus Industries turned his eyes towards Wu Lina. He loved this change of events because Wu Lina was an extremely important guest. He had scolded his secretary for not inviting her. The secretary did not invite her only because she wanted big names to come. But when the Chairman scolded her, she got scared and immediately sent her the invite.

The Chairman was so happy when Rosa announced Wu Lina's name on the stage that he got up from his place to go to her and requested her to go on the stage.

Wu Lina was grinning when Rosa was berating Yang Fangxu. All her worries and doubts about Rosa disappeared within seconds. She enjoyed the looks on Yang Fangxu's face. When the Chairman of Lotus Industries came to her and urged her to go on stage, she accepted the invite and walked there gracefully.

Yang Fangxu was still standing there rooted to the ground, looking at Rosa with daggers.

Wu Lina walked past her, to stand beside Rosa. She was grinning from ear to ear.

Rosa gave the mic to the MC and embraced Wu Lina. She whispered, "I am sorry Wu Lina. I should have called you earlier."

Wu Lina held her tightly and said, "I am glad this happened," and both of them giggled.

There was a huge applause from the audience as soon as they hugged each other. Many cameras clicked and several Weibo chats became active.

"Yang Fangxu is such a cheater."

"Yes, not only did she try to poach talent, she also tried to steal the idea and claim it as her own."

"That Rosa girl is way too smart!"

"Yes, we need girls like her who can stand up for themselves and do not take any nonsense."

"Thank god, Wu Lina can now start with the movie."

"Imagine Yang Fangxu wanted to sabotage Wu Lina's movie."

"Yang Fangxu is very cheap."

Yang Fangxu's Weibo was flooded with negative comments. Most of her fans had now become anti-fans. They started leaving her and instead went to Wu Lina or Ivan. Some of them created a special request to put Ivan's photo on the web. There were millions of comments over this incident and Lotus Industries entertainment gala night became a popular name.

Yang Fangxu left the stage in a huff and walked out of the hall. She was too embarrassed and angry to look at anyone.

Meanwhile the mayor and Yang Xinyu were glued to the TV and laughing away to glory!

When the function got over, the Chairman of Lotus Industries rushed to the stage to escort Wu Lina for special dinner. Even though all the participants and guests of the function were eating along with each other in a huge banquet hall, only special people had the privilege to dine with the Chairman in a private dining room.

When Wu Lina entered that area, she saw that the mayor and Yang Xinyu were already present there, watching the live telecast of the event along with others. She was so surprised that she let out a small chuckle. As both Rosa and Wu Lina entered the room, everybody present over there gave them a standing ovation.

Wu Lina went and stood in between the mayor and Yang Xinyu. She felt blessed and lovingly held Yang Xinyu's arm. She bowed to everyone and they sat down for dinner. Wu Lina wanted to talk to Rosa but there were so many dignitaries present over there that she decided to call her the next day. She took out her phone and texted her to meet her the next day at her office. So many things had to be discussed.

Rosa looked at her after reading the text and nodded.

After dinner, the mayor congratulated Wu Lina, "Many congratulations! Child, how do you feel now?"

Wu Lina replied shyly, "Father, I shouldn't say, but I am feeling satisfied. I am very happy."

The mayor laughed and took leave. Yang Xinyu escorted Wu Lina to the car and they drove towards their home.

With all anxieties gone, Wu Lina seemed so relaxed. Her normal glow returned and Yang Xinyu couldn't help but stare at her throughout the drive back home. He wondered how this woman never failed to entice him. He held her hand and squeezed it. Wu Lina looked at him and said, "Keep those naughty thoughts away."

Yang Xinyu gave her a big smile and said, "What naughty thoughts? My thoughts are pure. I purely love you."

Wu Lina rolled her eyes and said, "I know your pure thoughts."

"You do? Okay, tell me what am I thinking?"

The driver looked at the couple through rear view mirror and thought, can boss stop being so desperate. A single person like me is eating dog food.

Wu Lina shoved away Yang Xinyu as he shifted closer to her.

It had started raining outside and the driver had started the wipers. Even though there were another three cars with security men following them, their flashlights weren't enough. The visibility became worse with combined darkness of the night and the pouring rain.

The driver slowed down the car, as did the other cars that followed them. As they proceeded slowly with caution, Yang Xinyu ordered all his guards to be careful. All of a sudden they heard a piercing gunshot sound. Wu Lina grabbed Yang Xinyu's shirt and jumped to sit near him. He embraced her tightly.

Lu Shiming who was following them in the next car asked the driver of their car to go fast. The driver sped a little but was afraid that it may cause a jerk. Few minutes later more cars with security men came in front of them to escort them safely back to the bungalow. Lu Shiming asked his men to investigate the matter immediately – it didn't matter that it was pouring heavily that night.

When the car stopped in front of the main entrance, Yang Xinyu picked Wu Lina. The driver held the umbrella over them, which large enough for his master and mistress while he walked behind them. Yang Xinyu carried her all the way to the bedroom. Wu Lina didn't realize but it seemed that the sound of a gunshot made her panicky. She hated men in her father's house who had so many guns. The sound reminded her of the day when Yang Xinyu brought her out of Bulgaria. She started shuddering. Her stomach started aching.
