Wu Lina looked at him with shock. "First, they are not known as pregnancy classes! They are known as prenatal classes!"

Yang Xinyu sheepishly looked blankly ahead.

"Second, I don't have time for that, so you go and attend them yourself. You can tell me about it later at home."

"But baby we must attend these classes. It is important that both you and know about childbirth."

Wu Lina puffed her cheeks and said, "Xini, I will not go!"

Next weekend, both of them went to the prenatal class after Yang Xinyu had cajoled her and pampered her for the entire week. She continued to go to the office even though she would come back home soon.

Attending the prenatal class was a new experience. There were five more couples over there who were also becoming parents for the first time. Wu Lina and Yang Xinyu became friendly with them soon and they started sharing their stories.

When the class began, the instructor asked them to handle the stuffed animals. All couples except Yang Xinyu and Wu Lina had them. A couple sitting near them offered them theirs but Yang Xinyu said, "Could you please wait a moment?" He rushed outside and came back with four huge stuffed toys.

The instructor was shocked to see them and said, "I had asked you to bring stuffed toys that are a size of a baby!"

Eventually they ended up using the toy that was offered by another couple. They practiced swaddling the baby and wrapping it tightly in a blanket. Yang Xinyu had tough time wrapping a ribbon, he had hard time with this exercise. It was extremely awkward when the instructor explained them how to breastfeed the baby. Wu Lina was so awkward while learning how to position a baby for breastfeeding that Yang Xinyu was beginning to feel pity for his unborn kids.

Later they showed the childbirth video. It wasn't fun at all and Wu Lina rushed out of the prenatal class. She got nauseous and asked Yang Xinyu to drive her back to the house. During the entire journey back she berated Yang Xinyu for getting her to this nonsense of a class. She was sure that she wouldn't attend the next one.

Yang Xinyu listened to her patiently and in the end said, "Baby, there is just one more next weekend."

Wu Lina stomped out of the car. Another hectic week went by and it was time for the next prenatal class.

Somehow Yang Xinyu coaxed her into attending it.

In the class the instructor told the couples the importance of having a travel bag ready at door, so that when the lady would get into labor, they wouldn't panic. They suggested packing music, books and snacks. Wu Lina was surprised at the instructor. She said, "When I will be in labor, do you think I can enjoy snacks and music? I would want to kill my husband that time!"

Yang Xinyu was sitting right behind her when the instructor was giving those instructions. He held her hand to stop talking but she continued, "Do you think that I do will be giving birth in a quiet room, listening to Mozart's Symphony while eating almonds."

The other couples started laughing. Wu Lina continued, "or do you think that I will be giving birth while reading a book?"

The instructor laughed nervously and said, "Ma'am, kindly listen to what I say and then you can give your suggestions."

"You all should spend a lot of time to prepare birth plan. If possible please write whatever I am telling you in a Word doc."

Wu Lina picked a pencil and a paper and wrote: I will scream obscenities at Yang Xinyu, who agrees not to take anything personally. She showed that paper do Yang Xinyu and smiled at him.

The instructor went on about telling various other things that needed to be packed in their travel bag. While all other couples listened to her attentively, Wu Lina wanted to get out of there as soon as possible.

Wu Lina started feeling that she was trapped in the room with so many people and the instructor was pushing something on her. The instructor was emphasizing that breast-feeding was the only option. It was as though if she asked question about formula feeding, the instructor might call child services.

Wu Lina looked at Yang Xinyu desperately, but Yang Xinyu was too focused on what the instructor was telling.

In the end when they were driving back, Wu Lina told Yang Xinyu that the instructor hasn't given enough information about what to do when babies are born. She said. "I wish the prenatal class hi given us more information on what to do when I actually bring the babies home. By the way does the instructor know that I am giving birth to triplets?"

Yang Xinyu looked at her and send, "Wu Lina, if you want we can attend better prenatal classes."

"No! Those were enough!" Shouted Wu Lina.

Yang Xinyu kept quiet the entire journey back home.

At home, after dinner Wu Lina went to rest in her bedroom. She picked up a novel to read when all of a sudden she felt that something in her stomach moved. She kept her novel on the bedside table and touched her belly. There was some movement again. It was a slight fluttering movement. Excited, she called Yang Xinyu. She held his hand and brought it to her stomach. She said, "Can you feel the movement?"

Yang Xinyu pressed his hand and felt a slight ripple on her belly. His babies responded to his touch. He became so emotional that he brought his ears near her stomach and again tried to feel the movement. There was another slight fluttering. Yang Xinyu couldn't believe it. His babies were talking to him. More than Wu Lina, he was excited. He looked at her and said, "See, my kiddos are talking to me!"

Wu Lina laughed at his stupid claim. When Wu Lina had slept that night, Yang Xinyu talked to his babies, non-stop. He had slid down to her stomach, lifted her lingerie and touched her belly.
