Life Drain System Chapter 110

Rei however turns to his left and looks at her before saying. "Great, perfect timing. I think I may have an idea on how to help Yueliang. Well more like half an idea, the rest will have to be dealt with after I have some samples, and if my theory is correct."
Meiren excited and feeling hope for the first time since they left only many hours ago asks. "Rei, what is your idea? I am sure we could make it into a full solution after we hear it."
Yin knowing that one should not count their chickens before they hatch just shook his head in disappointment. Disappointment that Meiren is unable to keep herself controlled, and from what he heard during Reis' tour, she is unlikely to progress much in her cultivation because of that.
However, placing a little hope in his own ideas, Rei answers. "Well, while I was being guided on the tour through this sect that we are in right now, I noticed many people cultivating with plants and many other items, like gems or rocks. Anyways, patriarch Shin was talking and mentioned that some different items tend to have some different or interesting traits. ..."
"... This of course got me thinking, if they can increase strength, speed, or even give abilities, then surely there must be one that increases your life span right? Of course since Yue is frozen he could not use them unless something happened. Now while he is not able to consciously cultivate, I did hear Shin mention that cultivators are always circulating their chi. Of course while it will not be as affective while he is asleep, this could work in healing him. What do you think as cultivators yourselves?" Rei asks the snow leopard and lich siting before him with wide eyes.
Speaking first, Yin answers. "It would certainly be slower than if he were awake, but there is another problem. The items will not be as affective due to him not actively processing them. Thus it will take a lot more, however it does have a greater chance of healing him, than us just waiting around for him to die."
Meiren quickly intercedes to comment. "You both are missing something, although I do understand both of your reasons for thinking in such a way. Rei because he has never cultivated, and Yin because you never cultivated with items before. The problem here, is that as far as I know, cultivators cannot absorb traits of plants subconsciously without a technique. Of course there is something that I am not certain about, that may work."

"Hmm, and that is?" Yin asks, as he thought all of this ideas good sides have been thrown out as false.
Promptly replying, Meiren answers. "Well, do you remember one of the classes Yueliang takes? There is alchemy, where one takes the essences and forms it into a pill, of course it is much more complex than that. Either way, one does not need to be awake for some pills, while others they do. We may be able to find one that could work for him, regardless it must be said that I know nothing except the common knowledge about alchemy, not even how to start the process, let alone make a pill."
Hearing this, the room of the three went quiet for a good few minutes as they each process the thought further. Thinking about how they would do this, not to mention who, and what is needed.
A little while later, Yin speaks, breaking everyone out of their thoughts. "I know what to do, while I look for an alchemy manual around here and down there, how about Rei goes and asks the disciples or sect elders if any of them know of alchemy. If so you can either start learning, or ask 'if they can make a pill for someone who is in a coma of sorts to increase the amount of years for their life'. As for Meiren, you stay here and look after Yueliang, because we do not want to risk them kidnapping you as a pet or something."
Meiren chuckles before saying. "Alright, but even if they tried to catch me, we can always teleport to Yueliang anytime we need or want."
Worried she may try something after that comment Rei gets involved in the discussion again. "Look, you may think it is funny, but it seems the teleportation does not always work. For instance when Yueliang teleported to the moon we could not follow. Also, even if you do not count such an odd occurrence, when Shin was showing me around, I asked about the pets some rare individuals had."
"Really, and I am guess he told you, that beasts are common pets, as they can become powerful companions along the line or something like that. Am I right?" Meiren asks.
Shaking his head, Rei answers. "Yes, but you see, they have techniques to bond them, as well as collars to bind them. There are also many other things that are quite dangerous. I get that animals and beasts are supposedly raised with cultivation, but this is a whole other galaxy, if not universe."

"I get it, so things are different. Do not worry I will stay put. However be quick as I want to explore, just as the tigers will probably want as well." Meiren comments.
Yin decides to walk out of the room while the two have their back and forth, as he wants to get started on this sooner rather than later.
Meanwhile Rei quickly replies to her comment. "If you and the tigers are so interested in exploring, there are a few rooms designed to create an environment that has been scanned. Therefore you could explore to your hearts content without any danger. Of course it is more like the memory of an area so you could not talk to or eat in them, but similar none the less."
Hearing this, she just pouts as, Rei nods and leaves the room as well. Except Rei leaves teleporting out and back down to the outer sect. Once back down on the ground, he looks around for anyone who looks like they might be an alchemist. However rather than making a fool of himself, he thinks to himself. 'What are the distinct attributes of alchemists? Let me see, hmm... Strong smell of herbs, but nothing else comes to mind.'
Either way having figured out a way to find them, he walks around mainly trying to follow any strong herbal scent. Walking and walking, often receiving odd stares with how he keeps sniffing the air, he finally comes across a strong herbal scent, and starts following it.
A few minutes later, Rei looks around thinking. 'Great, I found a garden. Maybe because I was too far from people and not trying that....'
A hand extends from behind him, and clasps his shoulder stopping his thoughts. Rei turns around seeing an old lady, he asks while feeling a little weird. "Is something wrong? Did I go somewhere I am not supposed to?"
The old lady laughs a little, and then replies. "While I do not intend to offend you, an honored guest by the patriarch, it is best to avoid places you should not be. Also, while this is an okay place for you to be, I can tell you are lost. Tell this little old lady what troubles you."
Feeling like it is better to ask for directions at this point, Rei asks. "I am a little lost, are there any talented or skilled alchemists around?"
This time laughing louder, dumbfounding Rei, making him think a few thoughts, she turns it around saying. "No, no, you are lost, not where you want to go, but you as a whole."
"Well, that is why I am looking for an alchemist. This would solve my problem that causes me to feel lost." Rei admits to the old lady slightly shorter than him, but still beautiful. Enough so one would wonder what kind of heaven defying beauty she was when she were in her prime.
"If you say so, also while I may be an alchemist, if you want a 'talented or skilled' one, you should look elsewhere. There is one here in the outer court, and a few more in the inner and core court." She answers while feeling that either he has yet to grasp the question, or she is missing something., thus making her quite curious.
However feeling that the question would not get him where he needed, he changes the question for her. "You see, while I would prefer a talented or skilled individual, it is more complicated. What I need is someone who could make a pill for an unconscious person suffering from loss of years. Thus a pill is needed to restore them. Do you know of someone who could do this?"
Her face turns serious, as she answers. "While it is a simple problem, that is much more complex. Aside from the patriarch himself, who I doubt could complete such a task, this little old lady is probably the only person here who could complete such a feat. However I need to see this person to make the right pill."
"Then I made it to the right place, seems like fate." Rei mumbles under his breath, before continuing and walking towards the exit. "Well, since you need to see the person in question, are you coming with me or not?"

Four story anthology
[participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] [participant in #NaNoWriMo] Preface: This fiction will contain four different stories set up as a challenge for myself and to get better at writing. The challenge for royal road writathon is a 55.555 word goal while the nanowrimo challenge is 50.000 words. Reader suggestions is turned on, feel free to point out errors I missed and I'll fix them up! Chasing sun, napping softly: Cultivation/Xianxia genre. Some parts will poke at the ridiculousness of the Xianxia gerne. We follow the life of a magical fox monster, who doesn't like how the cultivation world works. Said beast seems to have more knowledge than is usual for normal magical beasts. In it's infinite wisdom it decided to search for the main character of the cultivation world to have a cozy and safe place beside him. Our fox will act as a "wise beast" to coast along on the main characters rise to greatness, all for peace, happiness and that amazing napping spot in the sun. The challenges for myself with this story: Writing in first person. Comedic effect between talking vaguely and sounding wise. The cost of heroism: A story more centered around fights and mental health of hired mercenaries/heroes. The world is infected with an eldritch corruption. Humans are trying their best to explore and clear out wilderness and the dungeons hiding in them to establish new cities. Lords seek for hired hands to do the professional work. Thanks to the setting, the story will show how awful pasts are the norm and how pragmatic people became thanks to that. People exchange their sanity for riches, fame and gods acceptance. Interpersonal relationships change drastically and quickly. The challenges for myself with this story: Writing grim scenes/imparting a feeling of how grim the world is. Writing fight scenes. Showing different mental states. Describing their influence on people during fights, walks or even after successful or failed campaigns. Who will be the next powerhouse? : A story about a gaming show, it's host Staan and the different participants. Stereotype characters, stereotype backstories, silly challenges and quizzes. The winner of those challenges gets powerups for their power system. Be it magic, ki, psychic power or anything else imaginable and unimaginable to reach the power of gods. The challenges for myself with this story: A softer tone for storytelling. Making the reader smile and enjoy themselves. A different try at slice of life story. I was left behind on earth as my family conquered another world and enjoys riches, but that's okey because I got a cheat too! : Stereotypical Isekai story parody twisted into an Urban Fantasy story. The challenges for myself with this story: Writing over the top and overdramatic scenarios/scenes Writing in first person. Walking into stereotypical scenarios and making them more dramatic/giving them a twist. Different type of humor.

Faeos Book One: The Stuff of Legends
A ragtag assemblage of adventurers, scraped together by seeming circumstance, investigate the theft of an ecologically essential artifact. In so doing, they find themselves embroiled (as adventurers so often do) in the larger machinations of a mischevious gnome, a determined mage or three, and a dire threat to their homes. Based on a homebrew Pathfinder campaign begun several years ago, and still running. Faeos is one part combat, one part character building, and one part entirely justified silliness. Blame any lead character weirdnesses on my players, whom I love. Blame everything else on me. Oh, and yes, this should also be tagged "Unreliable Narrator."
