He Xinyan smirked and put the pad back into the packaging before throwing it back into the trash can.

She returned to her room and stayed there for the rest of the day, all the way until Bai Jiawei came home and it was time for dinner.

He Xinyan walked out of the room but stopped when she received a message.

'Mr. Boyfriend: Do you want to come over for dinner tonight?'

He Xinyan read the message twice and frowned. After several seconds, she reluctantly responded.

'I can't. I have something to do.'

She waited for a response but didn't get one for several seconds. Finally, as she walked down the stairs, her phone rang.

'Okay.'

He Xinyan could feel the sadness and disappointment through his text message, and she almost wanted to change her mind, but she needed to eat here tonight.

When she reached the bottom of the stairs, she received another message.

It was a gif of a cartoon bear crying, and it completely didn't match Gu Yechen's personality. He Xinyan laughed out loud when she saw it, and she couldn't even believe that a person like Gu Yechen would send such a cute gif.

She replied with the same bear, but it was patting another bear and there were two words on top of it.

'It's okay.'

She then wrote, 'Come over a little earlier tonight. I have exciting news to tell you!'

Inside the house next to the He mansion, Gu Yechen was seated on the dining table, looking at his phone.

His cold face broke into a small smile when he received the message, and he replied, 'Okay.'

After putting his phone down, he stared at the warm plates of food in front of him.

He had finished cooking everything already. . . But it seemed like he would have to eat alone today.

He Xinyan walked downstairs and was the first to sit down at the dining table.

Soon after, Bai Jiawei came in with Li Huiran and Li Yuyan walked in with Su Zhiming. As they sat down, He Xinyan's eyes didn't leave Li Huiran for even one second.

Of course Li Huiran noticed her stare, and she looked down uncomfortably.

Like every other day, Bai Jiawei was extremely nice to Li Huiran as he gave her food and all of the dishes on the table were sour.

Halfway through the meal, He Xinyan put down her chopsticks and looked up.

"Auntie Li, how old is the baby?"

Li Huiran swallowed her food and looked up with a smile, "It is almost four weeks old."

"Oh. . . then it is almost time for your first check up, right?"

Li Huiran slowly nodded her head.

He Xinyan turned to look at Bai Jiawei, "Dad, can I go with Auntie Li to her first pregnancy checkup? After all, the little baby inside will also be my sibling after it comes out, so I want to go see it too. Plus, I don't have filming the next few days, so I have time."

Li Huiran narrowed her eyes and cleared her throat, "Uh. . . I don't think that is necessary. I can just go with Yuyan. Jiawei, you can go to work. Yanyan, you should stay home."

"Why? Auntie Li, it is a very important moment for the entire family! I can't believe you're pregnant! After all, it isn't very likely to get pregnant at your age. It's so unrealistic it almost seems like it's fake!" He Xinyan said all of this with an innocent and cheerful smile, but Li Huiran's face paled right after hearing her words.

Bai Jiawei cleared his throat, "Yanyan, don't talk like that! Huiran is pregnant. But Yanyan is right. I will come with you to your first pregnancy check up and Yanyan can also come if she really wants to."

"Thank you, dad!"

Li Huiran's eyes darted around nervously as she squeezed out a smile, "Sure. . ."

For the rest of the meal, He Xinyan ate happily and she ended up eating more than any other day. Meanwhile, Li Huiran was having a hard time swallowing her food.

"Huiran, what's wrong? Is the food not good today?" Bai Jiawei asked when he noticed that Li Huiran was barely eating.

"No. . . No! The food is good. I just don't really have an appetite. . . This happened also when I was pregnant with Yuyan. But don't worry, everything is good."

Bai Jiawei frowned, "How is that good? You have to eat, or else the baby won't get the nutrients he needs. Eat more."

"Okay. . ." Li Huiran looked down at the bitter melon and pressed her lips together.

At night, He Xinyan laid on her bed with her laptop, scrolling through information about pregnant women.

It was only 8 P.M. when the balcony door opened.

"You're here! It's so early."

Gu Yechen stepped in after taking off his shoes, "Didn't you tell me to come early?"

"Oh, yeah. . . I did!"

Gu Yechen raised one eyebrow with a displeased expression as he sat down on the bed, "Why didn't you come over for dinner?"

"I had some things to do."

"Did you not eat tonight?" Gu Yechen got onto the bed and asked, his expression turning serious.

"Of course I ate!"

"Good, don't skip meals."

"Yes sir!" He Xinyan closed her computer and scooched over to Gu Yechen's side of the bed, facing him.

"I have super exciting news!"

Gu Yechen smiled at He Xinyan's excited face, "What is it?"

"So, Li Huiran went out today so I sneaked into her room to look for clues because I don't think she's pregnant. Guess what I found!"

"What?"

He Xinyan slammed both hands onto the bed in excitement, "A sanitary pad in the restroom trash can!"

"Li Huiran is the only woman who uses the restroom in the master bedroom, so it definitely belongs to her."

Gu Yechen raised one eyebrow, "So what?"

He Xinyan leaned back as she clicked her tongue, "Seems like Mr. Gu isn't all-knowing after all."

Gu Yechen chuckled, "Then tell me, Mrs. Gu."

Ignoring the title Gu Yechen called her, He Xinyan revealed the hidden answer.

"It is impossible to have a period if you are pregnant! Which means, Li Huiran isn't pregnant!"
