He Xinyan picked up the folder eagerly and opened it.

The first thing she saw was a pregnancy verification letter.

'To Whom It May Concern:

On the day of September XX, 20XX, the patient known as Li Huiran had a negative pregnancy test. I sincerely apologize for my dishonest behavior and the harm it may have caused to others. As a doctor, I should have been honest and ethical and treat my job more honorably and morally. He Xinyan picked up the recorder and opened it, pressing play on the first and only recording.

The recording began with an unfamiliar man's voice:

"Hello."

There was the squeaking of a chair moving against the floor and He Xinyan recognized Doctor Qi's voice, "Hello. This is the room for a pregnancy check. . ."

"We know. We are actually here for you, Qi Liran."

There was the sound of footsteps and then a chair sliding against the ground.

Doctor Qi cleared her throat and eyed the group of men suspiciously, "How may I help you?"

There were a few moments of silence and the sound of a zipper before the same man spoke again, "Hello, Doctor Qi. I am the head lawyer of the Gu Corporation's Law Group, and I am here today to discuss with you the issue about Li Huiran's pregnancy."

When Qi Liran heard the name Li Huiran, her eyes unconsciously looked down as pressed her lips together.

"In case you didn't know, faking a pregnancy is a crime that can result in jail time. Especially as a doctor, you will definitely lose your job and you won't be able to continue in the medical field in the future. This behavior constitutes theft by deception. If this is brought to court, any lawyer can easily prove that Li Huiran was deceiving Mr. Bai, Bai Jiawei, for his money. That is a crime."

The lawyer grinned and began slowly tapping his pen against the table, "As Li Huiran's partner in crime, you won't be let off the hook so easily either."

He Xinyan turned around and raised one eyebrow at Gu Yechen when the man in the recording called her President Gu's wife. He just smiled back at her.

Qi Liran didn't follow the news much, so she didn't know whether Gu Yechen was actually married or not. However, she did know the power and authority the Gu Corporation and Gu Yechen held.

At once, tears flowed down her face as she clasped her hands together.

"I'm sorry! I'm sorry! I was just blinded by the money! My son needs to go to college, but my salary itself isn't enough to pay for the college fees! Please forgive me! I'll do anything you ask for! I can't go to jail! What will my son do?"

The man smiled satisfactorily after hearing Doctor Qi finally say the truth. He dropped the pen he was holding in his hand and pulled out a blue folder.

"I'm glad you chose to cooperate with us. You don't have to worry about your son's college fees. The Gu Corporation will pay for it. I just need your cooperation. There was a beep and the recording came to an end.

"Wow, that lawyer was so cool!" He Xinyan put two thumbs up with her eyes sparkling, "Every word was so on point and his talking is so fierce and direct."

When she looked back up at Gu Yechen, she noticed that his face had darkened and there was not even a trace of a smile left on his face.

"Um. . ." He Xinyan pushed herself away from Gu Yechen on the couch as she wondered what she had said wrong.

Gu Yechen furrowed his eyebrows and leaned forward, pressing one hand onto the arm handle of the couch. Using his other hand, he lifted He Xinyan's chin up and narrowed his eyes.

"Do not compliment another man in front of me. . . or should I say, do not compliment another man ever. Understand?"

He Xinyan nodded her head furiously. Oh. . . so Gu Yechen was jealous! Jealous Gu Yechen was very scary!

"Good." Gu Yechen pulled away and frustratingly crossed his arms together. What was so cool about that lawyer?! He could talk like that too! He could talk even better than that!

Gu Yechen kicked his foot onto the ground and pressed his lips together angrily. If he had known, he would have canceled the board meeting yesterday and gone to the hospital himself!

Then, his baby would be complimenting him right now!

Seeing that Gu Yechen was still upset, He Xinyan smiled and scooched over, wrapped her arms around his waist.

"Mr. Boyfriend, let's go eat lunch together!"

All of the frustration and anger Gu Yechen was just feeling vanished, almost like it never was there.

"Su -"

His reply was cut off by a knock at the door. At once, the anger was back as he crossed his arms together and leaned back against the couch.

"Come in!"

Chen Xiao walked in and immediately noticed the expression on Gu Yechen's face. Uh oh. . . Did he come in at the wrong time?

"Um. . . Mr. Gu, the chairman of Porut Corporation is here to discuss the upcoming project."

He Xinyan gasped when she heard Chen Xiao's words. Porut Corporation was the largest real estate company in Country A, and it was working with the Gu Corporation?!

Gu Yechen knit his eyebrows together and frowned. The chairman of Porut Corporation had flown here all the way from Country A, and it would be rude of him to not meet the old man. If it had been anyone else, he would have just canceled the meeting right away.

However, the chairman was old enough to be his father, and it would be really rude for him to cancel the meeting.

He turned to look at He Xinyan and gently patted her on the head, "Can you wait for me for a bit? I'll be as fast as possible."

He Xinyan nodded, "Don't worry about me! Take your time."

Gu Yechen smiled and stood up from the couch, "Go get some food for Mrs. Gu!"

"Yes, Mr. Gu."

Gu Yechen walked out of the office and into the meeting room, and Chen Xiao followed him. A few minutes later, a different male worker walked in pushing a cart filled with food.

There were two floors, and there was salty food on the bottom and sweet food on the top.

"Hello, Mrs. Gu. I couldn't prepare much, but please tell me if there is anything else you need."

"No, no. Thank you very much!" He Xinyan stood up from the couch and her eyes lit up at all the delicious food, "Oh, and you can call me Miss He."

"Yes, Mrs. Gu."

He Xinyan cleared her throat and ignored it, deciding to focus on the food. She first grabbed a plate of nachos and fries before walking back to the couch to eat.

Although they were probably going to eat lunch soon, it didn't matter! Her stomach can fit two meals!

After finishing the nachos, she decided to push the car over to the couch so she could grab whatever she wanted easily.

She ate for almost half an hour when there was a knock and the door opened. He Xinyan turned around, thinking it was Gu Yechen.

However, she immediately stopped chewing on the macaron she was eating when she saw it wasn't.
