At the center of the blood, Gu Kexin laid motionless on the cold ground. The knife that was originally supposed to be used to slice the cake was now stabbed straight into her heart.

The bright red blood stained her pure white dress, and the tiara that she was wearing on her head had fallen onto the ground, landing near her hands. Her beautiful, sparkling eyes were opened wide as she laid motionless on the ground, making the scene several times scarier than it already was.

However, that wasn't the most shocking to He Xinyan.

When she looked over at Gu Yechen, she saw that blood was dripping from his hand. And what was even worse, Gu Kexin was laying right next to Gu Yechen's feet.

A bad gut feeling slowly built up in He Xinyan.

"You murdered someone! This man just murdered someone!" Someone in the group of people suddenly screamed, and everyone immediately stepped away from Gu Yechen to the opposite side of the room.

Once again, the way everyone looked at Gu Yechen changed from admiration to fear.

Gu Zihao slowly walked over to where Gu Kexin was laying and looked at her for a long time. Finally, he stepped away and walked over to where everyone else was standing inside the ballroom.

Of course, He Xinyan didn't believe that Gu Yechen would kill Gu Kexin, especially during her birthday party. It was clear that someone was framing Gu Yechen!

She looked up at Gu Yechen to see that he was also looking at her.

"Don't worry, I'm fine," Gu Yechen said calmly, loud enough for the two of them to hear.

He Xinyan nodded her head and turned to the large group of people, "No one can leave! Even if you leave, the police will go find you! Everyone here today are upper-class public figures, so if you don't want to get into trouble, then just stay here and don't move!"

She coldly looked over at the people who were getting ready to leave, and then pulled out her phone. A second later, she called the police.

While everyone anxiously waited for the police to arrive, Gu Yechen walked over to the food table and used a napkin to wipe away the blood on his hand.

"Someone covered up Gu Kexin's mouth while killing her." He Xinyan said as she looked down at Gu Kexin with a complicated expression.

Gu Yechen nodded his head and didn't say anything else.

He Xinyan slowly looked away from Gu Kexin and furrowed her eyebrows together, "I grabbed onto your hand! Why did you push me away?"

Gu Yechen didn't reply right away as he scanned the nervous and anxious group of people inside the large ballroom.

He then moved closer to He Xinyan and lowered his voice, "The murderer killed the wrong person."

"What?!" He Xinyan said a little too loudly. A few people looked towards her and Gu Yechen with a frown. He Xinyan cleared her throat awkwardly before looking up at Gu Yechen in shock.

The murderer killed the wrong person? So, the person the murderer wanted to kill wasn't Gu Kexin? If it wasn't Gu Kexin, then who was it?

Suddenly, He Xinyan's eyes widened as she stared intensely at Gu Yechen.

"Are you saying, the murderer wanted to kill. . ." She pointed at herself.

Gu Yechen licked his lips before slowly nodding his head.

"So that's why you pushed me away." He Xinyan said, narrowing her eyes as she instinctively hugged herself with her arms.

He Xinyan couldn't understand. . . Why did someone want to kill her during Gu Kexin's birthday party?

Even if the murderer had accidentally killed the wrong person, Gu Kexin was standing several feet away from her. How could the murderer make such a huge mistake?

Before He Xinyan could think about it more, the door opened and a group of police entered.

Of course, Gu Yechen was taken away as a suspect.

Everyone that had attended the birthday party was also taken to the police station to be interrogated. Everyone's statements were against Gu Yechen.

After He Xinyan had been interrogated, it was already 4 A.M. in the morning already.

Hearing the news, Gu Yebei, Wu Minger, and Qin Lai both arrived.

"What happened? Where is big brother?" The usual playful smile Gu Yebei had on his face was gone as he ran over to He Xinyan and asked right away.

He Xinyan poured herself a glass of water and drank the entire glass in one gulp. She then sat down on the couch and told the three of them what had happened during the birthday party.

"Everything was so sudden. The lights were suddenly turned off, and no one could see anything, including who the murderer was. When Gu Kexin was killed, there was no clue of what happened." He Xinyan knit her eyebrows together upon thinking about the scene of Gu Kexin's death.

Gu Yechen said that the murderer wanted to kill her.

He Xinyan had scanned everyone inside the room while they were waiting for the police. She knew no one except Gu Yechen, Gu Kexin, and Gu Zihao out of all the guests, so there was no way she had any enemies at the party. Who would want to kill her?

Her first guess would obviously be Bai Jiawei, Li Huiran, Li Yuyan, or Su Zhiming, but all of them were gone. There was no way they could have been the murderer.

"The murderer can't possibly be Boss Gu. . . He wouldn't do something like that. Gu Kexin has no relatives close to her except Wang Yani, your grandma," Qin Lai said, looking over at Gu Yebei. "However, Boss Gu is also Wang Yani's biological grandson, so who knows how she is going to handle this."

This made He Xinyan suddenly remember something.

Suddenly, the doorbell rang. He Xinyan walked over to the door and opened it to see Qu Fei standing outside.

"Mrs. Gu, I came after hearing about what happened from Mr. Gu Yebei. Maybe I can help?"

He Xinyan quickly nodded her head, "Come in, come in."

Gu Yebei stood up when he saw Qu Fei walk in, "You're here."

"Yes, Mr. Gu."

Gu Yebei turned to look at He Xinyan, "I also contacted my mom and dad, and they should be here soon."

He Xinyan nodded her head. Yes, that would be good. After all, this situation was quite serious.

"Don't worry, Mrs. Gu. There isn't enough evidence and Gu Yechen has no motive for murder. He will be fine. I already sent someone over to bail Mr. Gu out, so he should be back soon," Qu Fei said as he took a seat on the couch.

He Xinyan looked up and nodded her head.

"Yanyan, you should go rest. I will call you if Gu Yechen comes back." Wu Minger frowned slightly seeing He Xinyan's tired face.

After several seconds, He Xinyan nodded her head, "Okay."

She returned to her bedroom but couldn't fall asleep for a long time. However, she still forced herself to sleep. She had to keep her energy in order to figure out who the real murderer was.
