Lucan and Silent sat at the dining room table while wrapped in their fluffy bathrobes and ate their dinner while talking.
"Two of the truly powerful families from Baramore ended up moving into Destol." Silent said. "They have already purchased large estates and have begun their renovations, but representatives from both families have already approached me to make an offer."
"Oh yeah? What are they interested in?" He asked.
"They both admired the buildings that we have constructed. They want to purchase they penthouses of two buildings as well as several other floors in those same buildings." She informed him.
"What do you think about that?" He asked.
"I don't think it is a bad idea. We can get a good amount of gold out of them. In fact, I think it will be a lot better than renting the rooms daily. We should keep at least on building as a hotel but I have heard that there is a lot of interest from the people of Destol in buying apartments directly, plus if we sell it to them we won't have to furnish it."
"Hmm, it is not a bad idea, it will cost a lot to clean all the rooms and it could be good business to sell them directly."
"That is what I was thinking too. Since you are fine with it, I will contact them and see if they are sincere about their offers."
"Good, let me know if you need any help with it." Lucan said.
"I will be fine. I plan to go and meet them tomorrow."
"Don't do that." Lucan said. "You are the one in power here, not them. Make them come and meet you. Remember that we don't need their business, but they need ours. You are the Baroness of this land. Those families may have been high ranking nobles back in the material realm, but they are at most now Lords or Ladies inside the shadow realm. If they can't show you the most basic respect required, don't bother with them."

Silent smiled and didn't think those sort of things mattered at all, but if it was a request from her husband, she was glad to oblige.
"Is everything going well in New Avalon?" She asked.
"Mmm, things are progressing smoothly. The city is growing as fast as the building resources can be obtained. It is expanded at an incredible rate. I am just worried that it is going to grow out of control."
"Heaven has already began building a branch of her guild in New Avalon. Is there any way you could help her get her hands on more resources to speed things up?" She asked.
"That shouldn't be a problem." Lucan said. Although it would mean that he could see less of it to others, it would be better for the Cloud Saint Guild to have a stronger presence in New Avalon. They would be able to keep and eye on things and if the situation ever got out of control it would be good to have a well fortified base inside the city that he could use to defend against any rebellions'.
Lucan wasn't a tyrannical lord or viscous monarch, but he worried that the people of Baramore would resist their current situation and try to take over control from him.
While it wouldn't be possible for them to usurp his position since it was something appointed directly by Raze himself, they could still cause a lot of chaos if they went against his wishes and turned the common people against him. He needed things to run smoothly. New Avalon was a huge project that could bring him immense profits in the future, but it wasn't without risk.
"How is your sister adjusting to the shadow realm? Is her guild getting along alright?" Lucan asked.
"Yupp, she said things have been going well. I passed along a lot of information about the surrounding dungeons and she and her friends have already finished the construction of her guild headquarters here in Destol. They were able to transition fairly well, there are just a few resources that are harder to find for their alchemists. I was hoping…"

"What is it?" Lucan asked.
"I wanted to take some of the recipes from the vault, so that her alchemists can learn a few new potions that mainly rely on the ingredients found in the shadow realm."
"It is alright if it is only a few, but if she wants several recipes and duplicates, then you need to get something in return. I don't mind you want to help your sister. But there is a big difference between helping her and getting taken advantage of. If you are going to fully support her guild then you need to receive something in return. If she has a problem with this, then I will really doubt her sincerity."
Silent nodded. "That is not a problem. I told her almost the same thing. If it is just one or two recipes, I don't think it is an issue giving them to her but if she wants us to outfit all her alchemist then she should give us a portion of the potions they create. What do you think about that?"
"I think it is a fine idea." Lucan said with a nod.
"Oh, that reminds me. My dad wanted you to come over next to you log out. He said that he wants to talk to you about a business deal that you suggested last time you meet."
"Good, good, I didn't expect him to be so fast."
"What kind of business deal were you guys talking about?"
"It is an investment opportunity." Lucan said. "I think it will be a good one, I am hopping your dad agrees."
"I think he will. He seemed pretty excited about it. I heard him talking about it with my aunt. He was suggesting that she put up some funds to join you guys."
"Hmm, not bad." Lucan said.
Since they had finished their dinner, Lucan cleared away the plates.
After spending such a long time in the bathroom, the sun had already set before they ate dinner and now it was rather late.
Lucan and Silent retreated to their bed room where they cast aside their robes and dove under the new blankets. The bed had yet to trap any warmth within, resulting in the covers being slightly cold on their bare flesh since neither of them was wearing anything.
Lucan couldn't be anymore happier with the result because Silent quickly grabbed him and snuggled up closely to try and steal some of his heat. He wrapped his arm around her while she laid her head on his chest while intertwining her legs with his and hugging him closely.
Lucan slowly ran his fingers along her bare back until she drifted to sleep. He then let his hand roam further downwards and gently grasped her soft behind while he shut his eyes and waited for sleep to come while listening to her soft and rhythmic breathing while she slept.
He may always be busy, but it made him truly apricated the days he was able to spend with Silent. Nothing could make him happier than falling asleep while in her embrace.

Is That A Wisp?
Author’s Note: The start of the story is very slow and cliche. Give it a chance until the wisp reaches the human cities. It’s at that point that the book’s charm shows itself (Around chapter 20, all free!).

Valor and Violence
Valor and Violence is a series of short stories following different, yet all equally colourful, characters set in the same world. Birth of a Legend, the first short, follows Captain Erskine Erwell, a newly promoted Captain in the Calandorian Royal Navy, charged with protecting his people from all who would do them harm. Great news for the Calandorian citizens, bad news for the Skjar reavers that ravage the shores in search of slaves. But when a small reaver fleet slips the net and escapes to the southern jungles of Marduk, Erwell must fight a war on two fronts; one against the raiders, and a far more difficult war against the hostile landscape. If he can't find allies in this strange land, he may end up being the one in need of saving. The first part of the second short story will be uploaded on Saturday, the 11th of June, following Ferez Ahud, an aspiring young battlemage charged with the unsavoury job of 'terminating' a rogue member of his college. But how this nobody of a mage became a fugitive remains a mystery, and when the answer is discovered, the tables are turned and the hunter becomes the prey. I'll be uploading chapters of more in-universe short stories each week or as close to, work permitting. Content Guidelines: course language and violence

How the Stars Turned Red
Announcement as of 05 July 2022: I've been diagnosed with some pretty severe nerve damage in my left arm, rendering me unable to write effectively, and as such this story is on hold until it is healed. I am so sorry, and I promise to get back to writing as soon as possible. In the latter half of the 3rd millennium CE, humanity has spread across the stars, inhabiting close to five-hundred worlds across the Orion Arm. Earth has become irrelevant, a historical has-been. The galactic map is dominated by two mega-factions, both controlling vast amounts of territories either through direct control or through their many allies and treaty signatories. The Kingdom of Aurora is the political and economic hegemon despite consisting of only seven inhabited worlds; their strength lies in the Royal Union, an interstellar commonwealth composing an internal market and a common defence pact. These member worlds are myriad and varied, culturally as well as politically, but they all flock to the same banner. The Independent Systems Alliance, spearheaded by the Republic of Elysium, is the ascendant challenger to Aurora and the Union. A pseudo-federal multi-system polity, the Alliance economy and military is rapidly expanding, but at the cost of effective democratic and meritocratic involvement by its people. However, with two superpowers as this, chafing along a common border, and with a constant clamour of polemics, both sides have become convinced the other is constantly preparing for war and are on the look-out for any perceived weakness in their opponent. The predictable result is a huge arms race and a cold war spreading across the stars, requiring only a spark to set the galaxy aflame. Drawn into this game of high stakes are ordinary men and women, their peaceful lives, hopes, and aspirations swallowed by the vortex of conflict and distrust. This is their story. Cover art by Rhodex Designs (FB). Hope you like long chapters and adjectives. Note: English is not my first language. Another story set in the same universe, written by a good friend
