Primordial Dimensions Chapter 242

"Umbra, will you stop looking at me like that, if you want to do something, return the materials to the Hidden Paradise, will you?"
He didn't like how Umbra looked at him because he expressed his guilt to Shane which was something his companion shouldn't feel right now.
Rather, he should motivate Shane to stand up, because their current situation hadn't improved even after the Air chanter panther was dead.
The commotion they had caused was too loud, to put it nicely and it was obvious that some beasts would be attracted to them further exposing them to more dangers.
As such, instead of Umbra worrying about him, Shane wanted him to retain a calm head.
He believed making Umbra do something rather than sit idle would distract and calm him down. Thus, he asked Umbra to return the materials Talia and the others had thrown out of the Hidden Paradise in order to save his life.
At least, until Shane was ready to depart it would help to calm the beast down.
Talia and the others were worried about him and offered to leave the Hidden Paradise to support him, which Shane denied.
"Just purchase the same potions you gave the Lesser Starlet Fox for me, but only if we have enough funds left...otherwise... lower graded potions would be fine... too."
Though Shane said so, it was obvious that he was trying his best to hide his pain, hence the others weren't sure about giving him lower grade potions.
If someone were to see him right now, they would ask how exactly Shane was still alive.
It was already hard to believe that he was able to stay conscious with all the blood pouring out of his body. But, seeing how he tried to stand up once Umbra had calmed down by returning all materials to the Hidden Paradise, one couldn't help but say that Shane was both extremely stubborn and had a strong will.
He might be closer to being dead than alive, but the potions he had gulped were helping him to a certain extent, while the mana he used to forcefully stop or rather slow down the bleeding was helpful too.
After Talia purchased a [Tier-2 (Extraordinary)] recuperation and invigorating potion with the [Life preserving] effect, she laid it on the floor. Shane picked it up without the need to think too much about it.
He was already proficient in accessing the Hidden Paradise and something simple like taking two potions out of it was a cakewalk.

As such, he gulped down the potions that allowed his whole body to reinvigorate and heal at a rapid pace.
If Shane had enough time to rest, it wouldn't be a problem to stop the bleeding from the two deep cuts in his chest.
However, he couldn't afford to rest because the ruckus Umbra and the Air chanter panther had caused was too high to be ignored.
Umbra had thrown the Air chanter panther's corpse inside the Hidden Paradise too, thinking that it might be worth something before averting his attention to Shane again.
Seeing that his ashen face had regained some of its colors, Umbra felt much more reassured which was however not the case for the others who saw Shane's reflection in Umbra's eyes again.
"F*ck...how is he still alive...did he really drink the [Tier-2 (Extraordinary)] recuperation and invigorating potions?" Is the [Life persevering] effect keeping him alive?" Elyon mumbled in shock, not believing his eyes.
"He...will be fine!" Talia mumbled but she didn't sound confident. Instead, her voice was shaky and blood trickled down her lips as she worried incessantly at them.
Shane looked at his surroundings and let out a sigh. Had he been uninjured and Umbra's fight hadn't caused much of a commotion, he would have collected the reinforced terratector nets.
Yet, at the very least, when he and Umbra heard the loud and mana amplified howling of a wolf did they understand that it was time to depart hurriedly.
Climbing on Umbra as fast as possible, he noticed that the two-deep gashes on his chest began to leak more blood due to the sudden movements made by Umbra once he began to slither.
However, Umbra couldn't be considerate to Shane, otherwise, he would have to decrease his speed too much, allowing other beasts attracted by the commotion to attack them.
As such, Shane continued to gulp down one potion after another, he tried to contain the excess bleeding using [ Extraordinary] quality bandages with multiple effects on them.
His senses were already dulled because of the sheer quantity of potions he had gulped down and he didn't notice anything in his surroundings other than the fact that the Lesser Starlet Fox within the Hidden Paradise was alive, sleeping soundly.
This was the only positive thing that Shane could think of, given the giant mess of a situation he saw himself in. However the feeling of positivity didn't last as the Overlord of the territory they were currently in, charged out of the bush from behind.

It was a Stardoom wolf, a beast at the peak-Awakened stage that even Expert stages with a mana purity of 85% couldn't defeat alone.
Such beasts were considered 'Superior' awakened stage beasts because their combat prowess was superior to all common Awakened stage beasts.
The bloodlust thunder wolf and Golden centipede King were also such Superior awakened beasts.
As such, he could roughly estimate how powerful the Stardoom wolf was and the only idea he was left with was doing something extremely suicidal!
"Take the direct path towards the Starlight river, don't stop even if an Overlord of the territory, you'll enter into, blocks your path or I scream in pain!!"
Shane was unsure whether he would be able to stay conscious for the next few hours they would take to reach the Starlight shelter, but survival was a high priority now.
Even if he were to lose his consciousness, Shane gave instructions to the artisan group inside the Hidden Paradise explaining what they were supposed to do if something were to happen to him.
Right now, he had yet to earn enough funds to purchase a Space door which would be the most efficient and safest way to protect everyone within the Hidden Paradise, if he were to die.
As such, he could only give his best and hope that he would survive, or the Lesser Starlet Fox, Talia, and the rest were to die with him.
This was something he couldn't come to terms with!
Neither did he want to die nor be the cause of the deaths of 8 talented, yet hidden geniuses and an almost extinct beast.
As such, he gathered his remaining willpower, when he saw how Umbra used all his strength to charge through the adjacent areas that were filled with multiple Superior, awakened stage beasts.
Like Shane, Umbra didn't want his master dead even if he had to sacrifice his own life.
This was because their connection was firm enough to be considered unshakeable. If it was necessary, Umbra would die for Shane without hesitation.
As such, he listened to Shane's instructions and followed them without thinking about the possibility that they might die.
Thus, Umbra rushed past those Superior, awakened stage beasts that were astonished to see a 50-meter-long snake slithering past them, followed by a Stardoom Wolf.
However, instead of focusing on Umbra, who was obviously fleeing, those superior, awakened stage beasts were enraged by the thought that the Stardoom Wolf had invaded their territory.
As such, they launched an attack on the Stardoom Wolf, who didn't even notice that it had ventured into another beast's territory while being in hot pursuit of the snake.
Yet, instead of backing off, it retaliated, thinking that those weaker superior, awakened stage beasts were nothing against its own strength.
A huge fight broke out attracting the attention of even more superior awakened stage beasts that sensed an opportunity to finish off some of their opponents, which would allow them to annex their territory!
This allowed Umbra to flee as he continued to move at his fastest speed. And one hour later, they had left the dangerous areas with several dozen Overlords that reigned over them, unscathed.
That was if one were to exclude Shane's deep gashes that looked worse compared to before.
The rough underground Umbra had to slither through, shook Shane's body every now and then, tearing open the wounds that were about to stop bleeding.
Everything became worse when Shane noticed that he had lost his control over mana. His sight blurred again and he was barely able to grasp one of Umbra's horns to prevent being pushed off from his companion. He willed himself to keep his eyes open, an activity that was taking a huge toll on him, as the blood loss was beginning to make him feel dizzy and weak.
It was only after more than three hours after they left the dangerous areas that the Starlight shelter came into their view.
If they had taken the detour, it would have taken them thrice the amount of time to reach safety and Shane was sure that the Stardoom Wolf would have caught up to them!
As such, they took the most efficient way and survived, even if Shane looked worse than a dead body.
Even before they arrived in front of the first shelter gate, the guards ordered them to halt in their tracks when they saw a giant snake slither towards the entrance at breakneck speed. Their reaction caused Umbra to roar in rage because Shane was about to die any moment!

Living in Paradise
The first thing I saw when I woke up was a group of people standing over me shouting "Happy Birthday!!!". Immediately after they start debating what type of world I came from and calling me 'William'. Later on I would learn that everyone here is reborn from another world and many children come with magic or superpowers or other gifts leftover from their old lives. I came from a world that was, to me, typical modernity. To them it was pretty boaring with the only thing interesting about my world being was a higher than average tech level for a non-spacefaring civilization; technology that wouldn't even work in this new world. All I brought with me was a peculiar mindset and the strong suspicion that there must be something more to life. Once everyone started to clear out my mother took me up in her arms, explained how the world works, and then stabbed me in the neck with a knife. I got better. -------------------- This story was written from the central idea of a simple question: What if a videogame like world, with all the normal video-game staples and tropes, was actually a real world? How would that work? How would people understand the universe around them? What sort of weirdness would the world appear to have from the point of view of someone who recognizes the odd nature of the place? And finally, if left to its own devices, how would this type of world ultimately develop?

World Labyrinth
Meet our hero: an average young man with an average life, who ended up dying while working an average job. However, he's a given a chance to see another world at the final crossroads of his old life. The catch... well... he knows there's one. There always is. But, hey, when you're about to die, you take whatever opportunity's provided to you. This is the young man's story in the new world as he learns he can't afford to be average anymore. AUTHOR'S NOTE: I've decided to put this note up due to some comments and ratings left for this ORIGINAL FICTION complaining its boring. This story starts slow and it takes time for things to pick up. Also the MC doesn't start off as superman or become superman magically in two chapters. He also is AVERAGE... so it takes time to build up his character. Starting chapter 14 or so things pick up, but this isn't a pure hack and slash and skills level up story like most of the FF on this site. Just giving you a warning, so you don't end up disappointed and end up having to post large paragraphs complaining about the story... I also post on average every TWO OR THREE DAYS, so you'll get more to read.
