The Dream Saga Chapter 4

"Please, I've got a favor to ask from both of you !"
The guard was on his knees pleading for help as he was in some serious situation that only we can help him out
"Why? Why do you need our help and why do you think we'll help you !" Skyler was cautious of the guard.
"I roamed the entire town for weeks, but I couldn't find someone with such will and Mana flowing from their bodies. I've been keeping eyes on you for days, and I know you can summon snakes, so I feel only you two can help me."
"Mana! How are you able to sense that from us!" Skyler was pretty troubled after knowing that the guard could sense mana.
"It's hereditary, I can sense the flow of Mana from other beings since the day of my birth, maybe it's something related to my blood." the guard was no normal guard he was something else, because something about him was off.
"I saved you from those mobs, at least you can return the favor by helping me, I know it's selfish of me to ask you to help me, and I'm not asking you to help me for free, I know you two are suffering from the financial crisis but if you help me, I can offer you something that'll set you for a year "an ornament" an expensive one"
"Set us for a year!" Kai screamed out of shock after hearing those words.
"We can't let this opportunity go away Skyler, we have to help him!"
"Hmm, yeah, we can't let this opportunity go away. As of now, I can't operate in this area anymore and we don't have any other jobs to do too. The other members of the mob guild might find us. We may die from starvation. It would be foolish to turn him down, but what kind of help do you need from us? That you're so eager you want us on board." Skyler asked the guard in a serious tone after thinking about her current situation.
"I come from a nearby forest named "Misty Moon" but I had to run from the forest because of some reasons. While running away I lost a precious ring of mine to the grand chief of the forest and It worth more than my own life, and i need it back at any cost. So, the plan is to infiltrate the forest, i will steal the ring and the ornament and get back out of the forest simple as a piece of cake."
"Sounds easy!"
"So it's a deal, right, Skyler!"
"Meet me tomorrow in the evening, since the forest only appears after dusk, so see you tomorrow. Goodbye till then..."
"Oii! Wait" Kai shouted at the guard as he was running away

"What's your name?"
"Sabir" the guard replied as he ran away
He was a strange guy, but he seemed like someone who needed help "but who knows what ulterior motive one is perceiving" I wanted to turn his offer down but since we lost our only source of income, we couldn't bother but accept the job. I talked to myself while heading to my room.
I lied on my bed, but I fell asleep just by lying on the bed as today was a tiring day...
A forest? Huh! It's so well lighted even during the night, but there aren't any lights out here! What's the source of this soothing light, by the way?
I tried to look for the source of the light but I couldn't find the source but when my eyes got to the sky, what i saw was astounding...
"Huh! No way! The moon is emitting this light! That's so awesome, Woah."
I looked at the ground on which I was standing on, it was covered with white petals of a particular flower and the trees in the forest had violet colored flowers and green leaves. It was a beautiful place to spend a night...
"Come on, you're lagging behind Kai! If you'll keep that up, we won't make it in time Skylar and Sabir spoke to me at once"
"Wait for me, I'm coming"
As I placed my first step toward them, everything changed in a split second. The white ground changed into blood-soaked red, the moon vanished into the clouds.
Howling sounds covered the entire area. There was a body lying on the ground by which blood was coming in vast amount. It was surrounded by wolves. I saw the hair of the person on the ground "silver" was the colour of the hair of the person. No doubt it was Skyler, I panicked like a horse who's been hit with a whip after watching Skyler in such a state, what just happened in a blink of an eye, something was missing! It was! It was! Sabir!!! He wasn't there! But why!
"Nooooo! Nooooo!" Kai cried out loud that woke Skyler up.
"Kai! Kai! Are you alright! What happened! Are you okay" She ran to Kai in worry.
"Skyler, Skyler, you're alive, you're not hurt anywhere"
"Yeah dummy, what would happen to me, you had a nightmare I guess"
"Hmm! I'm glad to see you alive" I grabbed her by her shoulder as I felt relieved.
I couldn't tell her what happened In my dream as she was trying so hard to feed us if I told her that I saw the future in my dreams, and she died in it. I don't think what she'd do. But I knew the future my dream is tended to happen whatever I do, but it only depends on me, only I can change the future of her.

It was about dusk, and almost time to meet with Sabir. We left our mansion before dusk and walked our way disguised in hoods...
We arrived after half an hour at our rendezvous point. Sabir was waiting there for us. I was trying to note every move of Sabir, as I had grew suspicious of him. The forest appeared out of thin air in front of us, this world really was mysterious ...
"Let's go and make it quick," sabir said in a motivating voice
We commenced our expedition into the Misty Moon. As we were moving forward we were getting deeper into the dark forest after a while, the ground begin to appear white because of the flower petals.
I took a glance at the sky. The full moon was still there. Ahead of us, there was a small silver-mercury fence which was shining brightly in the night. The fence was circling the whole area, I asked Sabir to lead the way since he was from the forest.
"Sabir, lead the way! You know this place, so if you'll lead us, it'll be quicker that way" I asked him with a curious tone
"Me!! Uh, I can't—"
"What the fuss! I'll go first alright but don't fight" Skyler walked to the fence and pulled out a few of the rods.
"Skyler No! Sabir should go first— "
"Alright! Alright! Stop being stubborn! Sabir! Lead the way, or he won't shut up." Skyler was annoyed because of me, but I her being annoyed is better than her being dead.
"Uhm! Yeah, let's not make it a big deal" Sabir spoke in a nervous tone
While Sabir and Skyler were talking, I sensed some disturbance in the environment I picked some heat signatures pointing toward the trees, the thing that was emitting the heat signatures were shaped like arrows, without wasting a second I rushed to Sabir who was about to cross the fence and in that instant, I figured something out...
"Sabir! Wait! Don't cross the fence!!!"
"Huh, wha—"
I pushed Sabir and Skyler with me across the wall so that we fell to the ground, but as soon as I pushed us, several silver arrows came at us with the max speed intending to kill us, but we narrowly escaped the arrows.
"What was that! Arrows!! Why???" Skyler yelled with a confused look on her face,
"Trap, it was a trap, that would prevent anyone from coming out or coming into the forest. Thank goodness I sensed it by time." I told Skyler with a sigh of relief.
Sabir looked at me as if he had come to know that I knew something about him. He had a troubled face at the moment, and he looked scared.
"Kai! Thank you for saving my life, I'll make sure to pay you back—"
"No, you don't have to pay your favor back, just don't ever betray us, I'm counting on you"
"Quit your hero talk and let's move"
After walking for a while into the woods we reached the exact location where we stood in my dream, the moon was fading slowly too I was nervous about what I saw In the dream, but I couldn't, I Couldn't back myself down now.
"We're here. Wait here for me, I'll get back soon"
"Hey! After you get the ring, let's throw a party" Skyler shouted at Sabir wearing her pleasant smile on her face.
"Hmm, yeah we will"
As Sabir ran into the woods. I began to pick some unfamiliar scent In the area again...
"Skyler, get ready! We're not Alone here"
"Something is coming our way to greet us"
A few of giant Wolves surrounded us in less than a second whatever I sensed was right, wolves were approaching us, and they were not liking our presence
"Skyler! Draw out the silver rod we pulled from the fence it's silver, so even a mild hit will cause them severe damage."
"I'm ready! But how do you know all these kind of stuff?"
"I lived my life reading books and playing fantasy games, so I know quite about monsters!"
"Fantasy? What's a fantasy?" She asked me odd questions that were irrelevant to our situation.
"Uh! I'll explain it later to you, it's complex"
Suddenly there was a shake in the atmosphere the ground started to shake pretty bad, the surrounding wind began to flow stronger that it even knocked some trees down, the white soothing moon turned into a red ball of cold fire, the moonlight that touched our skin gave us a burning sensation,
All of a sudden, a wall emerged from the ground, which separated me and Skyler apart. The wall was way too huge for a normal person to cross. At the exact moment, we heard an echoing voice...
"Welcome! Welcome! I, the grand chief of the forest, welcome you to the forest of wolves. You helped an abomination in infiltrating our forest sacred forest! Been Never in a thousand years someone knew about this forest except wolves, but now two of the outsiders have stepped onto our holy ground. I'm sorry, but we can't let the three of you get out of the forest alive. Unfortunately, we can't shed blood on a full moon night, but that doesn't mean you can walk free you'll be tormented for your sins"
"In the next blink of an eye, I was in a place I never wanted to be again in my whole life. I felt Death would've better than this punishment."

I Have Even Read the Rulebook!
As all stories begin, Prof died. Yes, truck-kun had something to do with that, but also a bird, a cat and some rebar. When he was presented with with the opportunity in the Afterlife Administration Bureau to be transmigrated into a game-like fantasy world, he did something, no one ever did: he read the Rulebook. Follow Prof on his road to be rich without working, touring a whole new world without a care and witness his realisation, that despite having read the Rulebook the folks living with the System for untold millennia know more about the rules. Important notes: 1, I'm not a native speaker, so be prepared for occassional typos, iffy grammar and maybe awkward sentences. The spell check was running, when I wrote the chapters, but it works in strange ways... If you point out mistakes, I will try to correct them 2, Scheduling will be two chapters a week, posted Saturdays before noon (CET). Depending on how much new chapters I can write consistently there will be probably more but as long as I have leftover chapters, the two per week will be posted no matter what. Chapters will be around 1500-2500 words as MS Word counts it. 3, I did not and will not post this novel on another site, if you find it somewhere else, please inform me 4, The Main Character's progression is slow, there will be no Levels, Skills, Abilities, Feats, Perks and Cheat Powers raining down on him 5, I've put Comedy as a genre because of my writing style not because the novel is a comedy per se. On the other hand, Traumatising Content is there because there is a lot of speciesism - those Elves are not nice people. 6, I put a lot of pop-cultural references into the chapters, try to find them! Enjoy!
