《The Duke’s Passion》The Duke's Passion

"You don't remember?"
"Of course, I do. But, why are you staring at me as if I'm a stranger?" Although I was surprised by my question, I repeated it unhesitatingly.
I remembered Sam staring at me almost similar to this back when I got possessed in the carriage. The difference was quite similar and not at the same time. It was hard to explain.
But my heart could feel the difference.
"Because I'm furious… very much." Sam stressed his words for me to understand.
"Did I do something to deserve your wrath?"
"I'm not mad at you, silly." Sam was quick to reply. But his coldness remained.
"Then…" I looked away with a sigh slipping past my lips. "… why do you sound as if I committed something unforgivable? I should be the one mad at you after…"
Unconsciously, I raised my hand and touched my upper chest. I furrowed my brows as I looked down before touching my neck.
There were no healing wounds? I'm certain I should've inflicted injuries after all that biting.
But there's none.
"What are you doing?" Sam inquired, curious.
I immediately looked up and cast him a look.
"No marks."
Sam narrowed his eyes. "No marks?"
"Didn't you…" I trailed off as I tilted my head to the side. "Huh?"
"Didn't I, what?"
Strange, I thought. What was I was trying to say again?
"Lilou," Sam muttered before I turned my head to face him.
However, as soon as I did, Sam already stood. His palm resting on the mattress' as his face was only a palm length away from me.
"Lilou, what did I do to you last night?"
For some reason, I felt like I was treading on thin ice. I've gotten too used to Sam's teasing nature that this solemn side of him felt new.

And dangerous.
I unconsciously bit my tongue. Would he kill me if I gave him the wrong answer? But, above all that, what actually frightened me was… losing his affection.
Did he get possessed?
"I…" I looked away. "I don't remember."
"Lilou."
Whenever he called me by my name, it would usually make my heart flutter. But now, I felt like I was getting scolded.
"I really don't remember. I'm so sure I am trying to tell you what happened, but… I can't remember what I was trying to say."
"Did he touch you?"
"Touch me?" With a furrowed brow, I returned my attention back to him. "By who?"
Sam studied me carefully, at this close distance. I felt like looking away again, but he placed his hand on my chin, forcing me to look at him.
He stared at me for as long as I could remember. And then his eyes glistened with killing intent.
"That bastard…" Sam gritted his teeth as if any moment, he'd snap someone's neck.
Please, not my neck.
But before that, I secretly recalled what I did last night.
Last night, I told Fabian I wanted to take a stroll alone. I had too much things to think about that I thought strolling in the garden would make me feel better.
Also, since Sam wasn't around that time. Then I went back into the guest chambers and fell asleep while waiting for Sam.
However, why did I feel something was amiss? I felt like I was missing something very important.
What happened to me that got Sam so riled up? What happened that brought forth the emotions I had never seen in his eyes?
What happened, Lilou? My deductions aptitude, please come out.
But nothing.
No matter how I thought about it, there's nothing. My memory remained the same.

I wouldn't be confused if I remembered.
"Did… something happened?" I raised my gaze back to Sam, asking carefully.
Instead of answering, Sam's jaw tightened. What's with his expression?
Slowly, Sam raised his hand and cupped my cheek. I could feel his restraint fury just by his touch.
"Sam?"
"I'm sorry." He muttered under his breath.
"Huh?" My furrowed brows creased even more. "What happened?"
I could not help but worry about seeing him like this. Sam was never serious, or rather, I had never seen him take anything seriously.
But now, there's this one distinct emotion I could feel from him. His blood… was boiling, continuously.
Despite uttering words of apology, his building up fury remained. It made my heart thump loudly.
"Rest here for now. I had told Fabian to escort you back to Grimsbanne." Sam slowly withdrew his hand as he pushed himself back.
What was this melancholic emotion circling in my heart?
"And you?" I didn't know why he would give such an order.
"I'll set off of on my own." Sam replied coldly as he turned around.
Before I could think or process his words, my body acted on its own. I immediately raised my hand and held on the hem of his loose poet shirt.
He stopped, thankfully. Sam looked over his shoulder and back at me.
"I… don't want to go back." I murmured. "Not without you."
I had waited for him all night. And when I awoke, he was acting differently and telling me to go back?
Not to mention, not recalling or knowing what made such drastic change? I felt like I wouldn't be seeing him again if he goes today.
"What happened to keeping me close?" I added, receiving no response from him. "If something terrible happened while I was asle…"
Before I could finish my sentence, Sam suddenly pinned me down. His eyes glinting dangerously as he pinned my wrist above my head.
Catching me completely by surprised.
"Sa — Sam…"
"I'm slowly losing my mind, Lilou. I can barely contain this anger and I might just explode. I can't let this slide."
I gulped down a mouthful of saliva as my heart raced frantically. Still, I could not help but notice that despite pinning my hands, I didn't feel any pain.
Just staring at him confirmed that something unforgivable happened. If only I could just remember…
Hah…!
Suddenly, snippets of memory started coming back to me. They were just snippets, but I scoffed in disbelief.
"Disgusting." Before I knew it, words slipped past my lips without my consent.
Sam could barely contain his anger. However, I couldn't contain this abrupt fury engulfing my heart.

How to Save a Star [BxB]
“Do you know that stars die?” I asked, breaking the silence. I didn't know where the question came from, but that's the only thing that came to mind. “Yeah,” he answered. “And some stars we see in the sky may be already dead. But they're so far away that their afterglow can still be seen above. Some of them may seem glowing but they’re truly dead.” We all have a little gallery of photographic memories inside our hearts. An exhibit of things we could never forget through our short moments in time. Some were so good, we held it like they were the best part of our lives while some were things we desperately ran away from - they hunted us, and killed our hopes. The beginning of my life ended on my tenth birthday, the day when my childhood was stolen away from me. I longed to run away from that nightmare that held me tightly in my neck and made me helpless under its grasp. Going to college had become my final chance to run away. On my seventeenth birthday, after enrolling at a university, my life took another shift. I met a man who showed me the glimmer of hope I always wanted to see. And this was our story. A narration of first love, bittersweet and worthwhile. DISCLAIMER: This novella primarily contains gay romance. Read at your own risk.

Decompose!
Dear diary. When you read stories about some people missing and returning after years of absence claiming they were living in another world, your first reaction is to scoff and dismiss a story as a tall tale, right? I know I did. All the time. Until it happened to me and I no longer did. That day was today. Some god of thunder smote me. If it were Chris Hemsworth, I wouldn't mind but it was some barbaric Hitite god that abaondned Earth some four millennia ago. Yes, what can I say? I love the seventh art. I have more hours watching movies than any other activity, including sleep. What? Do you think I'm exaggerating? Maybe I am. I'll really miss hollywood the most. And my biggest regret is that I never got to visit the holy city of cinema. I did not come to another world to be a hero even though there was hints that they hoped I'd save it. I did not come with overpowered abilities able to, dunno, leap tall castles in a single bound, faster than a speeding crossbow bolt, be more powerful than a eight-horse carriage, the bounds. No. After the asshole god that murdered me brought me to his world, he gave me some boons from his discount bin and "The Power of my Soul (tm)". Forgive my french, I hope you understand I am rather upset at dying. And he somehow decided that my power is to recycle stuff. How awesome is that? Not much at first, I must admit. At least I got all my camping stuff and equipment with me. There's no lycra in the other world. I'll make it someday, but that day is not today. So here I am. In another world, in the middle of nowhere. I'm no heroine. As the song goes, I'm your basic average girl. And I'm assumed to be here to save the world. But almost everything can stop me, because I'm not named Kim. Wish me luck, diary. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ This novel is going have the following features: slow-paced slice-of-life No GameLit / LitRPG elements. Movie references. Sandra likes the seventh art. Journal / diary style crafting (includes chemistry, engineering and metallurgy) low magic technological advancement (for Sandra, at least. She is not against sharing though) personal relations clash of perception between the modern and ancient customs. bits of tension, fighting, and plot here and there. I won't repeat myself though. Once she crafts a good batch of soap, for example, she'll just note, "I crafted soap again." Once it is estabilished how she obtains compound X, compound X2 that is obtainable from the same process will also just be mentioned. I'll try to be as realistic as I can with the crafting, chemistry, and technology. Cover: Public Domain Image by StockSnap from Pixabay. No attribution required but we do it anyway.

Dreamland
Dolores is a lucky girl with a high-level avatar in a very popular game. She did not level it up; she got it through some fortunate circumstances. She is not interested in fighting and levelling; all she wants is to have some fun and follow her own fantasies. If only there would not be all those idiots who intend to kill her, capture her, or simply use her. And those flaws in the game! Wait, what? Those pesky game characters now appear in the real world? And they can do magic? How did this happen? Adding to her troubles, her crush does not even look at her. As Dolores tries only to survive and hide between 'normal' people, she encounters stranger and stranger things that force her hand and, in the end, she has the answers to a lot of questions. It is a slow-developing story. I had a lot of fun writing it and hope to share it with you, dear reader if you also enjoy it. On the other hand, putting it in an acceptable form requires much work and energy. I intend to bring it to its end and not let it unfinished. I hate it when I encounter unfinished stories, so I understand the feeling. This is not a classical isekai story. There is travel between the two worlds, and the game world seems to be so very real... well, this is one plot of the story. This is not an MMORP game story. Part of the action happens inside a game world, but it is treated as a real world. Updates on a weekly basis, at least Monday and Friday, with additional bonus chapters as time and energy allow. Cover art: White Flower as A Dark Fairy by Darkrealmsmaiden Yolanda gracefully allowed me to use her dark fairy as cover. There are many more beautiful works of art to be discovered at her site: https://www.deviantart.com/darkrealmsmaiden Additional Grammar Trigger Warning: As a non-native speaker, I do my best. Unfortunately, this is not enough for people with a low tolerance for warped sentences and... they may want to skip the story :( Well, you have been warned :) I appreciate it when a reader points out a sentence that needs rework. That may spare a follow-up reader some pain and helps me understand where my English grammar problems are. * We thought we made the best game in Earth's history We thought we made the best interfaces ever seen We thought we made it - lifelike But it far exceeded our expectations. Dolores, I hope you're happy now. I hope you're alive now...
