Lily happened to look up at just the right moment to see her Godfather walk in through the front door. She stood up, called his name, and waved for him to join them. The man headed to their table and suddenly felt happy seeing Director Miller come.
Lily's Godfather was the CEO of a medium-sized company, and he was worth a lot of money. When he arrived at the table, he gave Lily a hug, shook Miller's hand, and sat down beside him. "Director Miller!" he said, "I'm sorry for being late! I have a lot of work today. I finished first before heading here!"
"It is not a problem," Miller replied. "I am just glad that you were able to make it. Is Lily your daughter? You seem to be close to each other?"
"She is my Goddaughter," he explained. "I am very proud of the young woman she's grown up to be."
"I can see why. She has gained my respect in a very short time," Miller said as he raised his glass to toast them all. "Let's celebrate the success of The Tea Maiden and pray for the continued success of Trailblazers."
Everyone at the table rose their glasses and shouted out in exaltation: "Cheers! Cheers! Cheers!"
While the celebration got louder and louder, Lily's Godfather leaned into Lily and whispered into her ear: "What are you still doing with Khloe? Do you think she can still give you more? Are you mentally disabled? Is she a sinking ship? Do you want to go down with her? If you want to be successful, you need to distance yourself from people like Khloe and attach yourself to people like Kylie! This woman is obviously way better than Khloe. Save your ass!"

As the banquet began, William asked Kylie what had happened to Pupu and, perhaps, drove the dog away. Of course, Kylie played dumb and said that she didn't know what he was talking about.
William sighed and said, "You know how miserable I all, and my depression is much worse if I don't have Pupu. Last night, Ethan dragged me out of the house to run ten kilometers with him. Without Pupu dragging me along, it took everything I had to keep up, and now I am exhausted." He even acted like being abused by Ethan.
Kylie rolled her eyes and asked him what that had to do with her.
William quickly answered, "Nothing, I guess – except that I was thinking about you as I was running. Don't you think it is about time that you settled down and got married? I am still waiting for you,"
Kylie frowned and asked him who she should marry. She still has an unsettled relationship with Ethan. Of course, William offered to marry her, but he didn't think she would want to marry him. Though that was true, Kylie was too kind to confirm his assumption directly.
Before they could say more, Lily's Godfather stood up, called everyone to settle down, and proposed a toast in honor of director Miller, who was one of the guests of honor. "First of all, I would like to thank Director Miller for coming. We are lucky to have him. Not only is he a genius, but he is a good person. These two traits do not often find themselves in tandem with each other,"
"Going forward," he continued, "I would like to offer to finance his next project! So let's have an advance celebration today,"
Lily's Godfather rose his glass, and everyone burst into cheers of exaltation.

Hearing this, Khloe wondered if she couldn't convince Lily's Godfather to get her a role in the project he was financing. As everyone knew, the person who finances movies receives a lot of say into what goes on. She aims to get the project and become the female lead. As soon as the noise quieted down, she dared to address Miller once more. Casually, she said, "I wonder if the female lead in your next project has been determined yet…" Khloe tried to get Miller's attention to be the next female lead of her new coming project.
Miller nodded and said, "I've got someone in mind. And I saw her acting skills recently. She is like a hidden gem! Doing a good project is my main goal, and for that, I need to choose the appreciate talents who possess good acting skills,"
Khloe smiled meekly. She took a sip of wine and said, "I wish you success with this new endeavor."
Kylie was going from table to table, schmoozing when, suddenly, her phone rang. She looked at the caller ID and saw that it was Marta, her next-door neighbor. She apologized to the person she was talking with and went to find a quiet place to talk. She wonders why all of a sudden, Marta called her. It's very unusual.
As soon as she accepted the call, she knew that something was wrong. In a harried voice, Marta said, "You need to come back home quickly. There is something wrong! You must hurry,"
Hearing Marta's worried voice, Kylie knew something really had happened.
"Aunt Marta," Kylie stammered, "did I forget to tighten the tap? Is your ceiling leaking again? I am still at the banquet, and this one is an important event,"
"No," Marta replied, "your home was burglarized! Come as quickly as you can. You must be here within an hour or thirty minutes,"
"Thank you for informing me, Aunt Marta! I will be there in an hour,"
"Okay! I will wait for you! Sorry If I bother your important activity,"
"It's okay! At least someone had told me immediately; otherwise, I will probably blind until now!"
"Bye, for now, Kylie!"
As soon as the call ended, Kylie heaved a deep sighed. She can't figure out who is the one who got an ill intention against her. She threw a glance at Khloe, who obviously, trying her best to get the attention of Director Miller.
Kylie thought it would not be Khloe who plans to do it!

A World Forgotten
***This story will contain lite-litrpg elements, mainly character pages and a town page. There will also be settlement building and adventuring, missteps and achievements. But one thing it definitely won’t have is a harem. Nor will it have an overpowered MC. Contains mild cursing.*** ***feel free to critique my writing and offer input. This is my first venture into writing. I've always enjoyed litrpg/gamelit books. I feel like I write how I talk, so it may be a little different. You won't hurt my feelings if you see something wrong or out of place! *** ***What follows is a condensed part of chapter 1. Enjoy!*** Drew Cooper is thrust into a new, unfamiliar world. Waking up in his sweats and t-shirt near what seems to be a forgotten path through some woods, he struggles coming to terms that he's no longer in his apartment. As he tries to cope with his new reality, he hears a horse coming down the path. He hides behind a nearby tree dreading what may happen next. As the horse approaches, he sees a man walking next to it. The horse is burdened with packs and gear. When the man nears, Drew nearly panics. He has a large sword strapped to his waist, obviously a fighter. He continues to hide as the man slowly passes only for the man to stop a dozen meters past his hiding spot. "You may as well come out, ya know. You weren't as well hidden as you thought," the man stated matter-of-factly, letting the horse’s reins go and putting his hand on the hilt of his sword. Slowly and scared for his life, Drew raised up and walked from behind the tree. "I-I'm sorry. I wasn't planning on attacking you. I-I don't know where I am. I heard your horse and hid. I didn't know what you'd do if you saw me. I'm sorry," he nervously blurted out. A minute passed. Then two. The man seemed interested with Drew and stepped closer, eyes squinting as if trying to see something. "What's that on your shirt? Is that. What is that? Is that, Pac-man?" The man was visibly shaken while pointing at me. Looking down at his t-shirt nervously, "Yea. Yea. I woke up here a few hours ago I think. 3 maybe 4 hours. I’ve just been sitting here. Where am I? What's going on?" Drew asked. "That's not important right now," the man replied. " What's important is where you're from. What year is it?" "What year? April something 2020. Why? What's going on?" Drew continued now worried. The man was taken aback. After a few moments, he seemed to calm himself some. The man sighed and looked at Drew in earnest. "Well, I've got good news and bad news for ya. Bad news is you're not on Earth anymore. Good news is you happened to run into me and not someone else. You’re either really lucky, or it’s fate we met in these woods, and I don’t believe in luck." The man continued to walk towards Drew while talking and put out his hand. "I'm John Mitchell from St. Louis or thereabouts. You’ve got nothing to be scared of by me. Walk with me and let’s talk."
