Inside the police station.

Zhao Shuxin's face was still clouded by what happened that night.

She was supposed to enjoy her time in London and secure some deals with several potential investors when she received the call from her father that they must come back to the country.

If it weren't for her father's voice sounding so anxious and tight, she would have ignored it until her stay in the foreign country ends.

Dealing with her father's scoldings will come after she comes back to the mainland and just like in the past, it'll be easy for her to ease her father's anger.

But she didn't think that the matters in the mainland was this dire. Her Zhao family was now on the verge of turning into the laughing stock of the country because of this event.

If what Mr. Song told her was true, the news that the Zhao family was involved in crimes like tax evasion and extortion.

Besides that, there was also the strange thing that Mr. Song mentioned.

He mentioned that her position as the president of the Zhao Enterprise was invalid. But how could that be? She finally became the president of the Zhao Enterprise after her father passed it on to her.

There was no way she would be kicked out of her own office.

Unless the board of directors found out something.

Suddenly, Zhao Shuxin couldn't keep her arrogance and smugness any longer.

She abruptly stood up and walked to the door. She intended to leave the station and head over to the Zhao Enterprise main building to see exactly what was happening.

"Where are you going?" Yu Jin Yan asked and gave the two officers a polite smile.

Zhao Shuxin replied, "I'm going to my company. The Zhao Enterprise alone won't be able to come up with a solution and if I stay here, all of my investors will run away without knowing the truth!"

The two high ranking officers looked at each other. Their eyes met and in that brief second that passed between them, something deeper was kept hidden.

Constable Huo Yan stood up and approached Zhao Shuxin. A friendly smile was on his lips as he said, "Now, now. Let's not be too hasty, Miss Zhao. I know you're worried about your father's company-"

"My company." Zhao Shuxin interrupted him.

"Of course, Miss Zhao." Constable Huo Yan nodded. "But still, we ask of you that you remain in the station until things have calmed down."

"Stay here?!" Zhao Shuxin was perplexed and snarled. "If we remain here my company might close down and people would believe that we've really become criminals!"

"That is right." Yu Jin Yan agreed with her. "If we stay here, won't we be just like those unsightly criminals?"

Just thinking of what her peers would talk about when she gets out of her and things go back to normal, Yu Jin Yan's desire to get out of the station intensified.

The criminals staying in the police station, all of them have committed crimes that she better not mention. Just knowing that she's staying in the same place as these criminals, she shuddered in disgust.

Commissioner Li Wang didn't seem to be bothered with their words and leaned against the back of his chair behind the office desk in front of him.

He looked too relaxed and free of problems.

"Mrs. Zhao, please don't make staying in our humble station sound so unpleasant." Commissioner Li Wang said as he steepled his fingers on top of the desk.

Unpleasant wasn't the perfect word to describe what they're feeling. Zhao Shuxin and Yu Jin Yan thought. They were disgusted and freaked out.

But they couldn't say what they were thinking out loud.

These two officers were the people who will help them. They should at least keep their unpleasant thoughts inside their minds.

"I didn't mean it like that." Yu Jin Yan said in an attempt to fix the awkwardness. "I'm only stressed out with what's happening to my family. Speaking of which. Where's my husband and daughter?"

Zhao Hanfeng was her husband and Zhao Shuxin's father. He was the one who called them back to the country. If it wasn't because of his call, they wouldn't have ended up going back and staying in the police station that night.

If the entire Zhao family was caught in this undesirable situation, he would be looking for a way to solve this and contact them.

He might even send a chauffeur to get them back. Protect them from the world before they could judge them.

And yet, the man hasn't contacted them ever since his last call.

A flash of surprise passed in the commissioner's eyes as he said, "I thought you already know."

"Know what?" Zhao Shuxin nervously asked.

"Your father and the other members of the Zhao family was arrested a few days ago. They're currently being held in prison until the court hearing tomorrow." It was the constable who answered.

As if thunder struck them, Zhao Shuxin and Yu Jin Yan whipped their heads to look at Huo Yan.

Their eyes were wide as they looked at him in disbelief.

"Why would they be sent to prison?!" Zhao Shuxin screeched. "Just like us, they shouldn't be arrested and in prison right now! They should be in your care and looking for a solution to this problem!"

Constable Huo Yan frowned at her screech but Zhao Shuxin didn't care and continued to screech loudly. "This is impossible! Commissioner and constable, you must be joking with us. If what you said is true then how could my father contact me and told us to come back to the country?"

The two high ranking officers didn't utter a word after her outburst. They were unfazed by her screech.

Yu Jin Yan felt so weak. Her energy was drained at the revelation of the two officers and couldn't help but think. Zhao Hanfeng and the others are currently in prison. And no one should be able to contact them while their things are being held.

Was it really Zhao Hanfeng who called them?
