Chapter 220: Fu Zhi Is Busted – 4

Old Master Ma was looking at Fu Zhi with a grin plastered across his face when he realized something was wrong. He turned to look at his son and saw his son staring at Fu Zhi with a grim expression.

The ward was as silent as a grave. All of them looked at each other, and none of them spoke.

Lin Hui’s eyes hopped between Fu Zhi and Ma Mingquan several times, yet he was unable to read the situation. Feeling worried, he went forward and asked, “Master, do you know him? And who’s your grandmother? Why have I never heard you mention her before? Is she sick?”

Fu Zhi did not know what to say.

She reckoned that Madam Lu must be having a wonderful time playing mahjong with her group of ostensible friends at the moment, unlike her. She was trapped between the devil and the deep blue sea right now, and she had no idea what to do.

Her brain was currently a muddled mess, so she did not reply to Lin Hui’s question. Ma Mingquan looked around the room, and when he did not find any sign of Fu Zhi’s so-called grandmother, his brows furrowed even deeper and he asked, “What are you doing in my father’s ward? Aren’t you supposed to be visiting and taking care of your grandmother?”

“About that…” Fu Zhi thought for a while and muttered in embarrassment, “Well, the doctors did everything in their power to save her, but unfortunately…”

‘So that means she passed away? But why are you still so calm? Don’t you feel sad that your grandma passed away?’

Ma Mingquan was no longer the muddleheaded person he used to be. He sensed that there was something fishy about this. The initial shock and panic were slowly ebbing away, and his mind gradually cleared up. Once again, he looked at his father before turning to Fu Zhi.

“Doctor? Fu Zhi?” Ma Mingquan said as the scale finally dropped before his eyes. “Now I know why you always looked so uninterested in your studies and you couldn’t turn in your homework. This is what you’ve been doing all this time!”

Before Fu Zhi could say anything, Old Master Ma jerked up from his bed. After the acupuncture treatment, he was in better shape, and he felt like he could even go into a colosseum and fight lions.

With that thought in mind, he raised his arm and smacked Ma Mingquan’s head, “Stop shouting, you idiot. Is this how you should behave in front of someone who just cured your father? Where are your manners? Hurry up and apologize to Master Fu Zhi!”

Both Ma Mingquan and Fu Zhi did not know what to say.

Things were going out of control, and Fu Zhi had no idea how to fix it at all.

Ma Mingquan finally knew who had given his father the acupuncture treatment. He looked at Fu Zhi with mixed feelings.

She was his best student. As her teacher, he could not bear to see his student fall any lower, especially after learning that she was giving people acupuncture by faking being a doctor. She might have gotten lucky and not killed his father this time, but what about next time? And the time after that?

Taking a deep breath, Ma Mingquan waved his hand and said, “Go home and do your homework immediately.”

Then, without waiting for Fu Zhi to reply, he turned to his father and added, “I took the day off from school today. Let’s go see Dr. Liu.”

“No! I don’t want to. I already told you that the hospital only wants our money!” Old Master Ma shouted back as he looked at Fu Zhi, his gaze filled with trust. “I have full faith in this young girl. I’m certain that with her taking care of me, I’ll recover in no time!”

Ma Mingquan could not help himself and chuckled after he heard what his father had said. “She couldn’t even save her grandmother, and you said you have faith in her?”

Fu Zhi was left speechless.

Ma Mingquan did not know what he should say to Fu Zhi. She had been reprimanded for not writing her essays in the monthly examination, and her Math teacher had nearly had a heart attack when she’d refused to complete her homework. If she put more heart into her studies, then other teachers would not complain about her to Ma Mingquan every single day.

“Dad, stop troubling her!” Ma Mingquan said as he looked at Fu Zhi. “Even though she’s smart, considering the fact that she can’t even finish her own homework, there’s no way she would learn how to perform acupuncture, a technique that requires years to master!”

“How… How dare you question Master Fu Zhi? Do you really want to see me die so much?” Old Master Ma smacked Ma Mingquan’s head again before turning to Fu Zhi. “Please don’t get angry, Master Fu Zhi. I’ve already helped you punish him!”

After watching the scene, Fu Zhi knew that there was only one thing she could do right now. She pulled Lin Hui to the side and said, “Give me your doctor’s license.”
