The light in Ye Jiu's room was warm, but it could not warm him up. He could sense a chilly rush coursing through every vein in his body after he sent the message.

This was one of the rare moments when Ye Jiu felt changes in his emotions.

While lying on the bed, he allowed a feeling of resignation and sadness to overwhelm him.

He remembered the thing that the staff in the research institute had told him several years ago. They'd said that he was different from Fu Zhi.

Fu Zhi had a healthy body, but he did not. 

Defects in the DNA sequence were fatal research accidents. As a kid who was equally curious to know how the world worked, it was very hard for him not to feel jealous of Fu Zhi for becoming her stepping stone.

His phone rang and then went silent.

Ye Jiu turned around on the bed, but before he could take a look at his phone, Fu Zhi pushed the door open and came in. 

She was holding the flower pillow that Xu Wei had specifically made for her and wearing a white knitted sweater. 

"Why aren't you sleeping yet?" she asked. "I made you a cup of milk and I already bought the pink unicorn you asked for."

She was oblivious to everything and indifferent to many things.

However, Ye Jiu was different. He had felt a lot of resentment and discontent in his life. That said, at the moment, he did not regret coming into the world earlier than Fu Zhi after he thought about it carefully. 

Although Fu Zhi had always fought with him, he could not bring himself to hate her. After all, she was his favorite sister, the one he'd stumble around for while carrying a bottle to feed her when he couldn't even walk steadily.

He set his jaw tight as he looked at Fu Zhi silently. 

"What's the matter?" Fu Zhi asked, tugging at his sleeve. She threw her pillow on his bed and thought of the chicken drumstick that she had snatched from Ye Jiu's plate in the evening. 

"I saw you take the egg from my bowl this morning, but I didn't expose you or get mad at you!"

Ye Jiu had already forgotten about this. That said, Fu Zhi's accusation reminded him of something, and the fighting spirit in him was rekindled.

"How dare you say that? The reason you didn't expose me is that you've been using my money to buy milk tea for the past week! I told you, Fu Zhi. I've never seen a bossy president that's stingier than you in my life. You're the one who made me notice the huge gap between fiction and reality!"

She would not give him a villa and she had not shown him any affection before. Glaring at Fu Zhi, Ye Jiu added disdainfully, "You're just a poor freeloader!"

Fu Zhi looked at him in disbelief.

'This is it. No more brotherly or sisterly love! Goodbye!' 

Fu Zhi's cheeks puffed up as she said, "Goodbye!"

Then, Ye Jiu grabbed Fu Zhi, who was going back to her room with her pillow, and said sadly, "Why do you get angry at me so easily?"

"I'm not angry at you," Fu Zhi replied. "I'm angry with myself."

"Huh?"

"I'm angry with myself for destroying the perfect image of a bossy and affectionate president in your heart."

"Pfft—"

Ye Jiu was tickled pink by Fu Zhi. He couldn't hold himself back and chuckled as he poked Fu Zhi's hand. "Nope. I'm deeply moved."

"You're lying," Fu Zhi said.

Ye Jiu was speechless. The frown that had made his brow furrow vanished, and the negative emotions in his heart were ebbing away.

Fu Zhi then put a few pieces of milk candy with cat designs on his palm.

Ye Jiu had never seen this candy before. "What is this?"

Shooting him a glance, Fu Zhi replied, "Well, my brother is feeling sad, so I brought these to cheer him up."
