Chapter 159: Epic Showdown
Translator: Transn Editor: Transn
As soon as the Deacon had finished speaking, a flash of light appeared in Su Mo’s eyes. “Is it finally going to start?”
Su Mo gently turned his head and looked at Nangong Linjue, who was standing nearby. He was also looking at Su Mo.
Their gazes collided violently in the air just like two swords.
Nangong Linjue’s eyes were ice cold.
Swoosh!
In the next moment, the two flew into the fighting ring at the same time, standing 30 steps apart.
“Su Mo, I’ve been waiting for this moment for a long time!”
Eventually, a cruel smile appeared on Nangong Linjue’s face. He sneered and said, “Are you ready to die?”
Nangong Linjue would never spare Su Mo because anyone who damaged the reputation of the Sky Alliance had to die.
Today, he would kill the man who opposed the Sky Alliance in front of Senior Brother Duan and all the Outer Disciples.
“Are you sure that you can defeat me?” Su Mo said with a faint smile on his face.
Clang!
Nangong Linjue pulled out the long saber on his back and pointed it toward the ground. He said coldly, “No one in the Outer Gate can withstand five strikes from me. How many strikes do you think you can last?”
Nangong Linjue was extremely confident.
His confidence had been deeply rooted in his heart.
Su Mo smiled broadly and said, “Today, not only will I withstand five of your strikes, but I will also kill you!”
Su Mo’s eyes glittered with killing desire.
“What an arrogant pig! Now, I’ll make you aware of the difference between you and me.”
Nangong Linjue sneered with scorn in his eyes.
In the next moment, they ended their conversation, and terrifying Qi erupted from the two men.
Nangong Linjue’s imposing manner was surging and climbing, making the air around his body flow quickly and become a fierce gale.
The long saber in his hand was vibrating and dazzling.

Su Mo stared at him closely. At this moment, he no longer hid his strength.
Su Mo’s body sent out a faint golden light. His six Spiritual Spirals were running, and boiling Genuine Qi roared inside his body.
Clang!
He pulled out his Black-dark Sword from the sheath and poured his Genuine Qi into it to release a sword ray, which even pierced through the fighting ring.
“Master, do you think that Su Mo can really beat Nangong Linjue?”
Wang Hui could not help but ask Elder Wei, who was nearby in the spectator stands.
“He has a 50% chance of winning!”
Elder Wei said in a flat voice, “This is also a test for him!”
Wang Hui nodded his head. It was quite difficult to judge who would win.
Su Mo’s combat strength was powerful, but so was Nangong Linjue’s. Most importantly, Su Mo was at Lv 5 Spiritual Martial Realm, while Nangong Linjue was at Lv 6.
Slash!
While those two were talking, Nangong Linjue took the lead in launching an attack in the fighting ring. His roaring pale saber radiance sharply separated the air, chopping at Su Mo.
“Destroy!”
Su Mo turned his Black-dark Sword over, and a strand of Sword Qi flew out and blocked the saber radiance.
“Die!”
Nangong Linjue shouted in anger and chopped again and again with his long saber. The roaring saber radiance was like an unstoppable flood.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
A chain of deafening explosions caused the air to tremble in the fighting ring. The whistling Sword Qi and white saber radiance covered the entire fighting ring and the two men inside of it. The others could not see them at all.
Nangong Linjue’s saber momentum was extremely strong. Any martial artist with inferior strength would instantly be defeated by his saber momentum.
Whoosh!
Suddenly, a shadow soared hundreds of meters into the air.
It was Nangong Linjue.
“Su Mo, no matter how strong you are, you’re dead!”
Floating in the air, Nangong Linjue was not calm anymore and looked like a god. At the same time, his imposing manner surged again.

“Cloud-breaking Cut!”
Nangong Linjue suddenly shouted and hacked down with his saber.
This blow was terrifying, and the dreadful saber Qi was dozens of meters long, even dividing the clouds in the sky in two.
The world seemed to be separated by that blow.
“Wind Roaring in the Sky!”
In the face of such a horrible strike, Su Mo launched an attack with Divine Wind Swordplay instead of dodging it.
The raging wind rattled the sky. Accompanied by endless winds, those fierce sword radiances collided with the powerful saber Qi.
Boom!
Crack! Crack!
The long saber Qi cracked, and the splinters of saber Qi smashed the fighting ring into a pile of gravel.
“Impossible!”
Nangong Linjue’s face changed when he found that he could not hurt Su Mo with such a horrifying move.
Su Mo’s strength was way beyond his expectations.
It seemed that Su Mo had only used less than half of his abilities in the previous battles.
“Nangong Linjue, what else do you have? Show me!”
Su Mo shouted, standing among the ruins with pride.
“Here come 99 more strikes from me!”
Nangong Linjue cried in anger and rushed toward Su Mo.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
Clang! Clang! Clang!
Their attacks got faster and faster, and they collided again and again. The saber strikes and the sword strikes were swifter and fiercer.
The shock wave caused by the collision of the Sword Qi and saber radiance threw the rubble of the fighting ring into the sky, which scared the disciples who were watching the battle into backing off hurriedly.
The two men’s figures had disappeared into the raging Sword Qi and saber radiance. They fought from the ground to the air and from the air to the ruins of the fighting ring.
100 strikes!
200 strikes!
300 strikes!
They had soon fought for more than 300 moves, but still, there was no winner.
“Wow! It’s been more than 300 strikes, and they’re still going!”
“I didn’t expect Su Mo to be so powerful. Senior Sister Duan Bingye couldn’t even withstand five strikes, but he has fought for more than 300 strikes with Senior Brother Nangong.”
“I really wonder which one of them is superior!”
Everyone in the square was excited, and countless Outer Disciples were stupefied.
The top 10 disciples of the Outer Gate, including Fei Kuang and Ling Muchen, stood with their mouths wide open.
They were finally witnessing Su Mo’s true abilities.
Whoosh!
Suddenly, in the fighting ring, Nangong Linjue retreated to keep his distance from Su Mo.
“Su Mo, I have to admit that your strength astonishes me!”
Nangong Linjue’s face grew grave, and he said seriously, “But if this is your limit, you’re still going to lose!”
Buzz!
In the next moment, a golden shadow emerged behind Nangong Linjue.
It was his Martial Soul!
Su Mo fixed his eyes upon the Martial Soul. It was a huge mantis that was three or four meters long and had golden scales all over its back.
This mantis looked hideous and creepy, and its broad forelegs were like two large glittering swords.
There were nine dazzling halos above the mantis shadow.
Rank 9 Human Class Martial Soul!
The color of the nine halos was the most surprising thing to Su Mo. They were not yellow, but purple.
Eight of them were purple, and only one was yellow.
The Martial Soul that Nangong Linjue released shocked the people in the square and caused them to chatter.
“Senior Brother Nangong’s Martial Soul is a Golden-backed Mantis!”
“Yeah! The Golden-backed Mantis is a very special demonic beast. It’s a natural sword expert. Its two arms are even more powerful than a martial artist’s swordplay!”
“I’ve heard that Senior Brother Nangong’s Martial Soul is very close to an Earth Class Martial Soul. It seems that it’s true!”
“You’re right! A Martial Soul with eight purple halos and one yellow halo is the strongest Martial Soul below the Earth Class!”
Hearing the surrounding comments, Nangong Linjue smiled.
“Su Mo, release your Martial Soul!” Nangong Linjue said.

One of these great heroes started off in the most hated profession of the time, Necromancer. Join him and his comrades as they accomplish the first of the Good Necromancers legendary tasks. ***** So, quick update for those who pay attention to this section. I'm finally coming out of finals for this semester, and I plan on getting the whole already posted section revised. It's taken me a while to change the necessary things, as I had to start all the way over, but I've at least got the rough drafts for all the revised chapters. These should be going up within the next week or so, still have to go to work, but I am here, I haven't forgotten or dropped the story. Just trying to make this the best work that I can produce. P.S. I will be releasing additional stories. They are all going to be in the Good Necromancer world, however the others will give you an idea on how humans in other locations survived and have thrived. Or not. =)

Carus - Libertas
participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge and also having a go at NaNoWriMo this November. This was a first draft published as it was written for Nanowrimo November 2020. A little rough around the edges, I hope to come back and edit at some point, and then continue the story on. In the grand scheme of things Elias was nothing special. Which was why he was surprised by a random company on a new colony planet buying out his contract. That was the problem with the large companies that ruled the colonies, once they owned your contract, they owned you. Imagine the greater surprise when he learnt that the new company held the promise of freedom. Not from the constant battle against the Swarm that were also trying to claim the colony planets for their own. Nor from the Crust, the mysterious substance that covered the same planets and held the resources they all fought for. No, the freedom from being oppressed by those with more power and to finally decide where to go and where to set down roots and call home.
