Chapter 271: Nirvana Swordplay Skill
Translator: Transn Editor: Transn
No one had a clue about what was going on, and they were all dumbfounded.
Even after five experts from the List of Top 100 Talents were eliminated, there was still someone on the eighth level!
How could someone’s talent and combat strength surpass those of the five geniuses of the List of Top 100 Talents?
Everyone stared intently at the eighth level of the tower to see what kind of god would walk out.
Su Mo stood in the arena of the eighth level in front of 128 glowing human figures. They were all at the Peak Lv 4 True Spirit Realm, which was two whole levels above his cultivation.
Su Mo was smiling. Beating the eighth level was a piece of cake for him now.
Swish! Swish! Swish!
As soon as the 128 glowing human figures formed, they all shot into the sky, and their swords shot out over 100 beams of sword radiance that merged into a storm of sword Qi that rumbled toward Su Mo.
“Destroy!” Su Mu lightly shouted.
He released his Devouring Martial Spirit, and a strong devouring power instantly enveloped the surroundings.
After the devouring power was released, all the glowing human figures and their attacks suddenly stopped in mid-air and began trembling like terrified mice staring down a cat.
Swish! Swish! Swish!
After Su Mo attacked with his sword radiance and sword Qi, all the glowing human figures crumbled to pieces.
The entire process was completely effortless for Su Mo.
“I wonder what the reward will be this time?”
Su Mo was excited as another white jade box flew into his hands.
However, this box was a dozen times larger than the one from before and it was about the size of a jug.
“What’s inside?”
Su Mo was confused. The more levels he passed, the more valuable his rewards became.

The Triple Breathing Techniques awarded after the seventh level seemed to be a secret skill that was not very helpful to his combat strength, but it was definitely much more valuable than any Medium Lv 3 Martial Skill.
Secret skills were worth way more than regular cultivation skills and martial arts techniques.
Su Mo opened the giant box and was stunned by what it contained.
“A beast egg!”
Su Mo stared speechlessly at the giant white egg that was as large as a cow’s head.
Since it was the prize of the eighth level, it had to be the egg of some kind of powerful demonic beast.
However, what disappointed Su Mo was that the egg was dead!
The Ethereal Territory had existed since post-archean times, so even the eggs of the strongest demonic beast could not survive this long!
Su Mo shook his head dejectedly. His reward for this level was a useless rotting egg.
He still decided to take the egg with him as he was unwilling to throw away the prize he had worked so hard for.
After a while, Su Mo’s figure disappeared from the eighth level and entered the ninth.
In the square outside the large tower, everyone waited for the mysterious and powerful expert who broke into the eighth level to reveal himself.
The Five geniuses of the Top 100 Talents were also waiting. They wanted to see who could be more powerful than the top experts in Hong Domain, South of Yan River.
“Why hasn’t anyone come out yet?”
“How has he been able to survive on the eighth level for this long?”
“He has to fight 128 glowing human figures whose abilities are equivalent to martial artists two cultivation levels above him. He won’t last long!”
“That’s not true. Since he can make it to the eighth level, he must be a supernatural genius. Who knows how long he’ll last?”

The square was filled with loud chatter. Everyone was anxious to see who was fighting on the eighth level!
They were all discussing how long Su Mo would last on the eighth level, but no one considered that he could pass it entirely.
Suddenly, the eighth level finally dimmed and this caught everyone’s attention.
“Haha! He’s out!”
“Haha! I want to see what kind of genius he is!”
Everyone began laughing, but their smiles soon froze.
Unexpectedly, after the eighth level dimmed, the ninth and last level suddenly emitted a burst of light.
That meant whoever was inside had passed the eighth level and entered the ninth.
“What?”
“He has entered the ninth level! How could this be?”
“Even Feng Xiu failed on the eighth level, but this person made it!”
The crowd erupted in shouts of disbelief.
Even the five geniuses of the Top 100 Talents, who were sitting cross-legged and healing their wounds, stood up in shock.
“Who in the world could make it to the ninth level?” Xin Wuming roared with a gloomy expression.
He was insanely jealous. The ninth level probably contained the most precious treasure in the entire Ethereal Territory!
The other four geniuses were also racking their brains.
The ninth level was still a vast white space.
After Su Mo entered, endless white light collected into 256 glowing human figures, all at the Early Lv 5 True Spirit Realm, whose cultivations were three levels higher than Su Mo’s.
“Lv 5 True Spirit Realm?” Su Mo smiled and said calmly. “Even so, it’s nothing to me!”
Su Mo was extremely confident. If he did not use his Devouring Martial Spirit, he would not be able to beat this level. However, with his Martial Soul, he would have no trouble beating even 1000 figures.
Swish!
Su Mo attacked first, swiftly releasing and activating his Martial Soul.
Swish! Swish! Swish!
His Spirit-slayer Sword swung crazily toward the glowing figures, sending endless sword Qi everywhere.
These figures were much more resistant to the devouring power than the ones before. Although they still trembled a little, they managed to launch a defense.
Of course, that would not last long because their strength had been reduced by 90%.
“Die!”
Su Mo moved as fast as lightning in the crowd of figures and struck at them violently.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
As the sword swung, countless figures blew up.
In only a couple of minutes, all 256 glowing human figures were destroyed by Su Mo.
As the last figure dissipated, the blinding light that flooded the entire level swiftly disappeared and Su Mo could clearly see the area.
The level was extremely vast and empty and spanned at least 500 meters wide.
There was a 40-meter-tall platform at the edge of the area.
The square platform had stairs leading to the top on all sides, and its top shinned with golden light.
Su Mo’s eyes lit up and his heart skipped in anticipation.
Swish!
Su Mo instantly rushed onto the top of the platform and there lay a glittering gold treasure box.
He took a deep breath and opened it. It revealed a jade tablet slightly larger than a palm.
Gale Island has similar jade tablets that were used to record high-level martial arts.
He picked it up and stared at it intensely. His consciousness instantly entered the jade tablet.
Suddenly, a large amount of information flooded into Su Mo’s mind.
What the jade tablet contained was a Martial Scroll, Nirvana Swordplay Skill. It was lauded as one of the ten great treasures of Ethereal Shrine.

Hi there! I'm setting off on yet another adventure, come join me :3 Unusually for me, there's only one perspective this time, and it's quite a bit more action-oriented than I usually write. Don't worry, though: everything's still as character-driven as always, and I never get tired of writing dialogue. Just to acknowledge it up front: this story is heavily inspired by EVE Online and the many stories generated by that world. However, since this is a fantasy setting, not sci-fi, don't expect any real parallels. Chapter publish rate for this one will be whenever I write them, as with Epilogue. I don't expect to move as fast here though, since it's not for NaNo. The plan is chapters somewhere in the 4k-5k range, and hopefully frequently. The Last Science takes priority as always though. Special thanks to Reaver and Ace Arriande for pushing me to get this going, and to all my fellow writers whom I've stolen from been inspired by. You're all wonderful people and I love you Quick reminder: Patrons get to read ahead of what's published! Also, try my other works: The Last Science — A Tale of Modern Magic Epilogue — A Post-Fantasy Psychodrama What are you still doing on the synopsis? Get to reading!
