Chapter 309: Blood Fleeing Skill
Translator: Transn Editor: Transn
Buzz! Buzz!
As Su Mo exerted his Devouring Martial Soul, its devouring power swept across the surrounding area instantly.
His Devouring Martial Soul had already ascended to Rank 3 Earth Class, so its devouring power was much stronger than before.
The three black-robed men who were shrouded by the devouring power were shocked when they felt their Genuine Vitality and Qi blood escaping their bodies.
“What’s going on?”
“Ahh!”
One of them could not manage to suppress his chaotic Genuine Vitality in time and fell from the sky.
“Go to hell!” Su Mo shouted coldly and unsheathed his sword. He dealt three attacks in an instant as razor-sharp sword radiance burst out.
Puff! Puff!
Two of the black-robed men who were at the Lv 4 True Spirit Realm died instantly.
“What?”
Even though the last surviving black-robed man was at the Lv 5 True Spirit Realm, he felt an extreme sense of fear the moment he saw Su Mo’s ferocity. He knew that he was completely incapable of blocking this strike.
He originally thought that the three of them could take down Su Mo with ease since Su Mo was only at the Early Lv 4 True Spirit Realm; however, he now realized that they screwed up.
As the stream of sword Qi was approaching, the bulky black-robed man bit the bullet and shouted, “Bloody Fleeing Skill!”
He abruptly turned into a stream of dazzling sanguine light that immediately flew away at an unrecognizable speed. The light was gone in no time.
Su Mo was startled and his eyes lit up.
“What kind of body move is that? How is it so fast?”
Su Mo could not help but be amazed. That man’s speed was indescribable. He had disappeared from Su Mo’s sight in the blink of an eye.

Su Mo let out a sigh as he know that he couldn’t catch up even if he wanted to.
He was careless with his attacks as he was unaware of that man’s ability to escape, or else he would never have let that man get away so easily.
“I wonder what’s the rank of that body move. Or maybe it’s a secret skill?”
Su Mo was curious since he was interested in such a body move.
Although he had cultivated Shadow Steps, it was already far too slow for his tastes.
Of course, Su Mo was close to the Grand Completion of Shadows Steps, and it was comparable to a Medium Lv 3 body move although it was at Lower Lv 3.
Su Mo then descended beside the two dead black-robed men and completely devoured their Martial Souls, Genuine Vitality, and blood essence.
Their Sanguine Genuine Vitality contained a massive amount of blood Qi. It took Su Mo several minutes to filter out the blood Qi and absorb the pure Genuine Vitality into his Spiritual Spirals.
However, Su Mo’s cultivation had only improved slightly. The Genuine Vitality, blood essence from the two of them were too little for his nine Spiritual Spirals.
“What Martial Soul is this?”
Su Mo suddenly noticed the two Martial Souls that he devoured. Both were at Rank 1 Earth Class and were floating about in the vortex of devouring power.
One was a long, black spear that did not catch Su Mo’s attention. The other was a demonic beast that looked like an elephant but was only as big as a rabbit. Su Mo was puzzled since he had never seen such a demonic beast before.
Out of curiosity, he tried to communicate with the demonic beast Martial Soul. He suddenly felt his senses heightened and he could vividly feel every motion in the surrounding area. He could even sense a bird that was flying miles away.

“Eh? This is amazing!”
Su Mo was astonished. “This must be how they found me!”
He was delighted. Although this Martial Soul was not at a high rank, it could prove to be extremely useful in certain situations.
In the past few months, Su Mo had devoured many Martial Souls, however, most of them were at the Human Class and were useless to him. Even the few Earth Class ones that he devoured were average at best. The only useful one was the Rank 2 Earth Class, Golden War Saber Martial Soul!
After a short while, Su Mo decided to keep their storage rings and flew away.
He still had a week left to reach the Holy City of Top 100. To make more time for cultivating, Su Mo captured a class 1 Lv 3 demonic beast, the Iron-feathered Hawk.
The poor Iron-feathered Hawk was beaten to a pulp by Su Mo. It was an intelligent creature and gave in to Su Mo eventually.
Su Mo rode on its back and cultivated while traveling.
The Iron-feathered Hawk was not huge and only had a wingspan of about eight meters, however, it was almost as fast as Su Mo since it was a bird-type demonic beast.
As they flew amongst the clouds, Su Mo felt the fierce wind cutting against his body like sharp blades.
“It’s better to sense the wind and improve my sword will at this time than to cultivate!”
Su Mo stopped cultivating and started to concentrate on the wind instead.
…
Meanwhile, a sanguine light suddenly appeared above a dense forest thousands of miles away. The light then turned into a bulky black-robed man.
“Ahem!!”
As soon as the black-robed man had appeared, he started wobbling and coughing non-stop. He looked incredibly frail.
“That damn bastard forced me to use the Blood Fleeing Skill!” His voice was extremely chilling and vicious.
“Given his strength, I suppose he’s going to participate in the Top-100-talent Competition. I should suggest to the young master to kill him then!” The black-robed man murmured to himself, and then let out a weird laugh. “These transcendent geniuses are really strong, but when Cold-blood Hall controls the entire Hong Domain before long, all of you will die!”
He then wobbled again before flying away in a hurry.
“There’s a small city ahead. I’d be able to recover completely if I consume all of their blood essences!”
…
At the Northwest region of the Hong Domain, there was a bottomless abyss called the Dragon-buried Abyss. It was one of the Hong Domain’s dangerous forbidden areas.
According to the legends, the Dragon-buried Abyss was the deathbed of a divine dragon from ancient times.
A vast amount of dragon power remained in the Dragon-buried Abyss even after hundreds of thousands of years.
On this day, a striking figure rushed out from the Dragon-buried Abyss.
It was a golden-robed youth. His face was both handsome and imposing.
“Hahaha! I’ll rise to the top in the upcoming Top-100-talent Competition!” The youth, Duan Jingtian, laughed loudly before a chilling light flashed in his eyes as he said, “Su Mo, you’d better pray that you don’t run into me during the competition, or else you’ll suffer a miserable death!”

The Queen's Guard
Friedrich Schreiner is a proud gefreiter of the Queen's Guard, 2nd Company: the finest fighting infantry on the continent (barring the Temple Guard; but please don't bring that up). Service is honourable but, with the Empire on a peacetime footing, terribly boring. Affairs take a dramatic turn for the worse when a mysterious invader uses a forgotten and taboo magical means to breach the capital, plunging the nation into chaos and endangering the royal family. With events spiraling out of control, Friedrich is entrusted with a critical mission. Will hot lead, cold steel, and his determination be enough to see him through? The Queen's Guard is what I'm calling a black powder fantasy story: it's set in a loose equivalent of the early 18th century (plus or minus a few pieces I decided I wanted or didn't want). Magic exists, but not in a spell-slinging sort of way: it's Earth-shaking undertakings or minor enchantments forged in by master craftsmen, the grand working of a secretive cabal or a slight nudge to the course of a blow. I, the eternal optimist, have a full trilogy in mind. The first book is The Prince's Arquebusier, hence the cover and the title disagreeing! This is my shot at 2021's NaNoWriMo and RR Writathon! I've hitherto been terrible at writing long-form fiction, so this is an effort to break out of that by having some accountability in being supposed to post chapters regularly. Here's hoping it works! I have an outline, but not too much detail. I'll do my best to avoid continuity errors, doing anything glaringly stupid, or otherwise fluffing my lines, but I can't make any promises on that. Please do let me know any feedback! Always happy to improve. [participant in the Nov 2021 Royal Road Writathon challenge]

In order to protect the home he has grown to love, Beau must travel out of Hattan and journey to the Middle Islands to seek safety among people loyal to his father that he has never met. He must put his trust in Nasila and a hired warrior named Gavin with questionable motivations. He is afraid and unprepared to take the crown, but at least his cousin Julius is with on this harrowing journey fraught with assassins, wild mythical beast, black magic, and demons. His cousin is the only person he can truly trust, but he must take a chance and put his life in the hands of others if he plans to survive. ***This is the first long-length writing I have ever undertaken, and I wish to get some critical feedback. I am not professionally trained as a writer but I have tried my best to teach myself and make the chapters as clean as possible. I believe I have reached a point where my limited skills cannot improve the work or make any more corrections. It is very difficult to show this work, but if I do not, I fear I will never improve and learn. So here it is. To anyone who lends the time to read all of this and any of my chapters. Thank you.
