Chapter 618: The Miracle in Craftsmanship
Translator: Transn Editor: Transn
Sikong Yan was determined to wash away his shame in the second round. He had to prove that he was stronger than Su Mo!
Ming Yu, who stood not far from Su Mo, also glimpsed at Su Mo. She had thought that her crafting skill was the best among the participants.
However, after two rounds, she changed her thoughts on Su Mo, regarding him as an opponent now.
Many others also wanted to compete with him.
This competition had no age limit. There were a few middle-aged men and old men who thought their skills had to be better than a kid.
The participants were competitive. Imperceptibly, many people had targeted Su Mo as their opponent.
Su Mo had no idea what was happening around him. He gazed at the hundred materials in front of him and kept thinking.
A hundred materials could craft various Medium Lv 5 weapons. He wanted to figure out a weapon that required the least amount of materials.
He looked through the formulas of the craftsmanship Legacy in his mind.
“There it is!”
After a short while, his eyes shone as he picked a formula.
It was called the King Kong Shield, a Medium Lv 5 defensive weapon. It needed only 21 materials, including the quenching liquid.
This was almost the minimum among Lv 5 weapons. Also, all of the required materials had been provided.
Moreover, the King Kong Shield was easier to craft than other Medium Lv 5 weapons.
In ancient times, this shield had been a popular defensive weapon because of the two traits mentioned above.
However, the crafting method was long gone.
Su Mo smiled slightly. He was certain that the crafting shield could make him rank in the top 10, or even make him the champion!

He also had the confidence to craft it in Upper quality in two hours.
Before starting to craft the shield, he went through its crafting method and formula carefully in his mind.
Swoosh!
With a wave of the arm, he threw 18 materials into the crafting furnace and started to infuse his Dark Force into the vent.
“So fast!”
The other participants were surprised to see Su Mo began to craft while they were still pondering!
“Humph! This round is not about speed!”
Sikong Yan sneered. Even if Su Mo was the first to finish crafting, he would be eliminated due to excessive use of materials.
Sikong Yan then cleared his distractions and looked through his mind to find an appropriate weapon.
Su Mo had taken the lead. He had already refined 18 materials when the others were just about to start.
He used his strong willpower to cast the materials.
He suddenly realized that he had never met any difficulty in crafting.
Perhaps he was indeed a natural-born craftsman as Ou Lianzi had said. He started to estimate his limit in crafting.
Although he had not crafted an Upper Lv 5 weapon yet, he assumed it would be easy to craft one if he paid enough attention.
He could try to craft a Lv 6 weapon after the competition. He might even be able to craft a Natal Spiritual Sword!
However, an Imperial Divine Weapon was dozens of times more difficult to craft than a Lv 5 weapon!
He needed to buy the materials for a Natal Spiritual Sword.
It took 582 materials to craft a Natal Spiritual Sword, and it wouldn’t be easy to collect these materials since many of them were ancient and precious.
Soon, the solution in Su Mo’s furnace had taken shape into a 1.6-meter-long, one-meter-wide shield.

Su Mo opened the lid and poured two more materials into the furnace.
One of the two materials was liquid, while the other was powder. They could both increase the weapon’s strength.
Their melting point was low, and they had completely fused with the shield-shaped solution within a few seconds.
Su Mo gradually extinguished the fire and then waved his arm to open the lid.
Now, he was waiting for the core to cool down and quench it.
The crowd was confused to see Su Mo extinguish the fire.
However, they were dumbstruck when they saw it.
Everyone stared agape at Su Mo. “Is it done?”
“This may be too fast!”
Whoosh!
On the referee seats, all the Sky-sea Pavilion craftsmen stood up, including Shan Gu, the Upper Lv 6 craftsman.
“How many kinds of materials did he use?” Shan Gu’s old eyes shone with keen light.
“It… It seems to be 20!” Zhao Quan murmured. He was not sure because this was too amazing!
It was impossible to craft a Medium Lv 5 weapon with 20 materials! Nobody had ever heard anything like this!
In his knowledge, it took at least 40 materials to craft a Medium Lv 5 weapon.
The craftsmen fell silent upon hearing Zhao Quan’s words.
Shan Gu’s eyes shone more brightly as if he had found a new continent.
If the assumption was true, then it would be a miracle in craftsmanship!
“Humph! Maybe he will come out with a Lv 4 weapon,” the middle-aged judge who had held the first round snorted.
This man was Zhou Chenghua. Su Mo had humiliated him before, and he did not wish to see Su Mo shine again.
The other judge did not agree with him. Still, they thought that Su Mo’s work might not live up to the required standard.
They had to wait for Su Mo to finish his work so that they could judge its grade.
There was an uproar on the spectators stand too.
“Su Mo is indeed a talent. He’s the first to finish!”
“I’m wondering, how is the quality of his weapon?”
“I’ve been watching him. He only used 20 materials, plus the quenching liquid, it will be 21.”
Several spectators were talking about Su Mo. Ordinary spectators might not have known what 21 materials meant, but the craftsmen did.

Contact Through Voided Lenses
[participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] Edit: Fixed some inaccuracies in the synopsis. The void is a vast unexplored ocean filled with various wonders and dangers all waiting to be explored by those brave enough to travel and record. Many souls do find themselves brave enough to face the vast distances, the various risks to personal safety and do the hundreds of task required on a craft. However, at times the void itself can be boring with absolutely nothing to do but as time pass and more and better technology is reached, things got better. The various trips got faster, communications became faster than light and you can be home to see your loved ones after only months now. Through the various planets whether rocky or gaseous, the various stars whether small or giant, the various systems both eerily similar or completely alien. As part of an expeditionary scientific exploratory survey craft, one could see that the void offers no reprieve from all the discoveries and wonders. At times, it can feel empty and silent where no soul can hear you scream and at others it can be overwhelming with sudden phenomenon that can overwhelm the brightest of minds. The void itself is a truly fascinating ocean where one must chart the various islands or drown in its deadly tidal waves. But the question still remained no matter how you try to hide it in of itself… is there truly other intelligent life out there? Are we alone in this ocean? Those very questions still haunt the minds of those on the crafts themselves as they brace for every jump ready for the unknown and the known. Many would try to explain that yes there is other intelligent life out there whilst other still say no after 2 centuries of continuous flight out of the home system. Still, those are questions that bury deep in the minds of the crew and those at home as the voidcraft jumps to a system with a single yellow star orbited by 8 other planets with one crowning blue jewel being the 3rd closest with its 5 oceans and 7 continents, a planet called Dirt which is inhabited by a primitive species called Humanity. Hello, author here and this is my newest dive into writing particularly for the Writathon currently in progress being my first one. I hope you give me story a try but in case you still want more information on what you’re getting into, below are some pointers about the story itself. First Contact: CTVL is a story about a first contact scenario between an advanced alien civilization and a slightly more advanced modern day humanity on their planet called Dirt. Characters: The story will take place mainly on the perspective of the alien visitors themselves though there will be human POV characters who will show how the rest of humanity react through media and forums. Action: It won’t be an actual alien invasion but you have to see for yourself how well first contact went. Sci-Fi: I will be very forward here, I WILL bend the rules of physics in order to add in parts of the plot and there WILL be parts that makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. Theme: It will be a brooding story talking about the futility of pe… Just kidding, it’s mostly wholesome stuff to be honest here. Alien: The aliens themselves will… actually why should I tell you, you have to go and read it to find out what the aliens are though I will draw a few things here and there to aid in the process. Extra tidbit: If you are a grammar nazi or someone who really wants a realistic scifi story... this story is probably not for you at all. Anyways, that’s pretty much all I can say before I spoil something major of the plot itself, the story is slice of life so make sure that type of story is what you like because I am terrible with anything else as I found out, anyways, have a good time everyone and good luck to the other Writathon participants.
