Chapter 1227: Cannon Fodder
Translator: Transn Editor: Transn
After walking through the stone gate, the scene in front of the four immediately changed into a vast void with thick grey stone pillars.
These pillars were extremely long. The bottom and the top of the pillars were so far apart that they seemed to be connecting the heavens and the earth. The countless pillars were neatly arranged, each separated with the same distance between them.
“This is the maze, a powerful illusive formation. We will not be able to fly out of this void without certain skills. Follow me!” Liao Yunjian said loudly.
Liao Yunjian then stepped on the void and started shuttling between the stone pillars.
Su Mo and the other two followed him, not daring to slack off at all.
Liao Yunjian led the three in and around the stone pillars. Although they seemed in disarray, they were actually following some kind of a rule.
After about a minute, the scenery around them changed again. They were now in a passageway, and the door to the Flaming Devil Earth Palace was behind them.
“Crack!”
A crisp sound came from Su Mo’s feet. Lowering his head to look, he found that he had stepped on a skeleton.
When he looked up, he noticed that there were numerous skeletons lying on the passageway, no less than a dozen.
“Why are there so many skeletons here?” Nie Qian asked in shock.
“These are the disciples of the Academy who got stuck in here! I was stuck here for almost a year as well!” Liao Yunjian said with a sigh.
He had once come here with two of his fellow disciples, but he was the only one who came out alive.
“Let’s go!” Liao Yunjian shouted as he continued to move forward.
Su Mo walked in the rear and collected all the storage rings that he could find on the skeletons.

Liao Yunjian saw what Su Mo was doing and secretly shook his head as his eyes flickered with contempt.
The group moved forward along the passageway for a while before coming to a stop at a smaller stone door.
Liao Yunjian glanced at Su Mo and Nie Qian and asked in a deep voice, “This is the second trial. Are you two ready?”
Su Mo and Nie Qian both nodded.
Unlike Nie Qian who had serious expression, Su Mo was secretly excited. After all, Evil Spirits could be really good fodder.
“Let’s go then!”
There was a hint of excitement in Liao Yunjian’s voice as well. The four stepped forward and went through the stone door.
“Swish!”
Their surroundings shifted and transformed, bringing them once again into a vast void.
This area was incredibly wide and seemed to have no end.
In the distance, there was a black palace floating in the void. It looked like it had traveled through time and had lived through eternity.
The black palace’s Demonic Qi soared up to the sky like fire beacons, twisting the whole void.
Around the palace, countless illusory Spirit Builds were dancing and roaring, making jarring noises.
These Spirit Builds all had different shapes and forms. Some looked like humans, while others looked like beasts.
“Cheep! Cheep! Cheep!”
“Cackle Cackle Cackle!”
The illusory Spirit Builds burst out in eerie laughter after spotting the four people. Some Spirit Builds even rushed toward them.
“Brother Nie, Su Mo, I’ll leave it to the two of you. Miss Han and I can only get into the palace if you guys distract these Evil Spirits!” Liao Yunjian said in a hurry.
Nie Qian nodded and immediately punched toward the flying spirits.
“Rumble!”
The fist radiance smashed into the Evil Spirits and caused a huge explosion.
Nie Qian’s fist radiance was extremely powerful, blasting away a large number of Evil Spirits with just one hit. Some of the weaker spirits were instantly crushed and blown into ashes.

Su Mo also lifted up his palm and sent out an enormous palm print, instantly blowing some spirits away.
The Evil Spirits were angered by Nie Qian and Su Mo. Thousands of spirits swooped toward them, covering the sky with a huge black shadow.
“Cackle Cackle Cackle!”
Chilling peals of laughter arose from the Evil Spirits.
“Brother Nie, I’ll leave it to you guys!”
Liao Yunjian signalled to Han Ying and then dashed to the side at the speed of light.
They were going to seize the opportunity to enter the palace while Su Mo and Nie Qian distracted the Evil Spirits.
The countless Evil Spirits swooped toward Su Mo and Nie Qian.
Nie Qian did not waste a single second and started attacking fiercely. He punched out iron fists nonstop. Fist shadows filled the open sky and stormed in all directions.
Although the Evil Spirits did not have any sophisticated attacking methods, they were not weak. Their mad assaults tore all the fist shadows into pieces.
Nie Qiang’s expression changed as the spirits attacked. He started to back off while attacking. There were too many spirits that it made his hair stand up on end.
“Cheep Cheep Cheep!”
“Cackle Cackle Cackle!”
The eerie laughs were piercing through their ears. Nie Qian’s attacks had already angered all the Evil Spirits, causing hordes of spirits to surround him.
At the same time, Liao Yunjian and Han Ying had already reached the palace. Since the Evil Spirits were distracted by Nie Qiang and Su Mo, they had no opponents blocking their way.
Even though there were some spirits around the palace, they did not stand a chance against Liao Yunjian.
“Brother Nie, Su Mo, hold them off!” Liao Yunjian shouted with an obscure smile on his face as he and Han Ying rushed into the palace.
“Rumble Rumble Rumble”
Nie Qian continued to attack the Evil Spirits coming toward him, but there were just too many of them. Barely managing to kill a few, he could not defend himself from the spirits that had surrounded him. All he could do was keep retreating.
“Brother Su, why aren’t you attacking?” While drawing back, Nie Qian noticed that though Su Mo was just standing beside him, not making any moves. This angered him.
“It would be no use even if I did. These spirits cannot be killed!” Su Mo said sullenly.
“What?” Nie Qian looked around in disbelief. His eyes were suddenly wide open.
He realized that the spirits that he killed would always come together once again after getting crushed.
These Evil Spirits were indestructible!
Nie Qiang suddenly started to panic. Since the Evil Spirits cannot be killed, they had little chance to survive the attack of this many spirits.
Even if they managed to withstand for a while, it would not last very long.
“How can brother Liao not tell us this beforehand!” Nie Qian’s face turned pale while he anxiously tried to think of a way to get out of the encirclement of the evil spirits.
Su Mo rolled his eyes, scorning Nie Qian’s intelligence.
“He just sees us as cannon fodder!” Su Mo said calmly.
“What?” Nie Qian’s expression darkened. He was not stupid. He fully understood Su Mo’s statement.
“That asshole!” Nie Qian howled in outrage. He turned and asked Su Mo, “So what do we do now?”
Nie Qian did not stop fighting as he asked. He used both of his hands and sent out countless fist shadows to fend off the spirits.
“Leave it to me!” Su Mo chuckled. A shadow behind him began to rise and form an enormous black vortex.
Su Mo let out his Devouring Martial Soul.

Trial of Champions
It all began with a family trip to an amusement park. How were any of us to expect being transported from Earth to participate in some "Trial of Champions," whatever that was supposed to be? Given only an hour to choose the Classes that would come to define our strengths, we were almost immediately torn away from one another and thrust into a deadly game of survival. It wasn't all bad, though, as terrifying as it could be from time to time. The supernatural and magical powers of the Classes were like something out of an RPG, complete with leveling up by killing monsters and completing so-called "Sub-Trials." And despite the juicy Experience to be gained from killing other Champion Contestants, not all of the participants were bloodthirsty murderers; some could be allied with, or even befriended. Even if it seemed like everyone who had been chosen for this Trial, no matter what universe they came from, was at least a little bit crazy. I would survive this till the end, and I'd make sure that my siblings and parents did as well, no matter how many times we were separated from one another. No matter how long it took. No matter what I had to do. --- A first-person litRPG incorporating classes inspired by D&D and other sources. If you like blue boxes but don't need to have huge lists of numbers to scratch your itch, you should be satisfied on that front. Each chapter is, in my word processing document, seven pages long (approximately 3300-3900 words). The Traumatizing Content warning is there because of discussions of certain topics. Nothing that I think deserves the warning actually happens in the story.

The Collected Short Stories of Necrontyr525
Hey all, Necrontyr525 here! Rather then drown you all in a flood of one- to three-chapter mini-fics, I've decided to put out all of my short stories in an 'omnibus' format, sorted by series and by release date. These stories span my entire progress as a writer-for-fun over the past three plus years, with the corisponding variance in length, subject matter, and quality. Each chapter will get an Author's Note as a sort of forwards. Not nessisarily as a summary, but more to give you all some context for where each short came from, as well as any chapter-spicific trigger warnings. I can't think of any off of the top of my head, but better safe then sour.Comments, reviews, and constuctive criticizm is welcome, but please do recall that these works collectivly represent a great deal of my growth as a writer.Cover by the wonderful gej302!
