The Abandoned Hunter Chapter 72

The suddenly the ground started to shake. It was a huge tremor as if something large was walking towards them.
"..."
"Not good... this energy fluctuation... an S-Rank BOSS!!!"
Jay could immediately tell with the amount of pressure exerted that it was certainly the dungeon's boss that was coming their way.
"Dang it! Yuu!!!"
He immediately dashed towards Yuu while swinging the blood sword with his all night everywhere which was chopping the undeads as if they were some vegetables.
"Listen to me Yuu, its better if you get out of here right now!"
Yuu heated Jay loud and clear but didn't respond and continued to attack the undeads again and again using a large wooden bad that was brought by a baseball player earlier.
"Damn man! The heck, you didn't come here to die did you?"
He looked at Yuu and paused for a second. It indeed seemed as if he had come to die here.
"Oh man, what is your purpose of coming here? You want to get stronger right!!?"
Yuuma replies subconsciously, "Yes!"
"If that's the case then you have to live on so that you will have opportunities to get stronger.", saying this Jay dashed towards Yuuma and held him tightly.
"W-what are you doing Jay? Let go of me!"
Jay didn't listen to him and immediately ran towards the wall at full force. He did think of ending the Stealth skill earlier but he hadn't ended it since Yuuma was still left.
So his body was still under the influence of stealth which he used on Yuuma too.
Then he immediately grabbed him and rushed towards the wall and threw him with all his might.
"Jayyyyy!!!!"
Yuuma was out of the dungeon the next second just like other people. He immediately got up and rushed towards the wall again to enter inside.
'BAM'
He hit his head hard against the wall and couldn't enter it again since Jay had already ended the skill [STEALTH].
"Huff huff, that gave a huge toll on my body..."
He looked up ahead and found many undeads sourrounding him. On top of that a huge undead which was also a variant appeared in front of him.
It had the head which was like that of a zombie and the body was made up of only skeletons. It seemed that it was an evolved variant.

"Oh fuck! Just look at its stats... you want me to kill him?"
"Now I have to kill this one and at the same time clear the mission that was given earlier?"
"System, display mission 6!"
A sudden message popped up.

__________
"Wow, I mea just look at the mission! I have to do so many things and I have only 16 minutes left?", he looked annoyed as he stared at the system.
"On top of that, where is the boost that was mentioned of?"
The boost was indeed given to him but because of his carelessness he wasn't able to make full use of it. Though it helped in sharpening his senses which had originally alerted him about the bats that were hanging above.
"Tsk never mind! Let's just kill the remaking small fries first."
He immediately used the skill [DASH] and went on killing each and every Undead that was found.
There were more than 500 undead minions left who were all slated by Jay in less than 5 minutes.
Though it consumed a large amount of stamina and strength, it saved a lot of time.
"Bastard, now it's your turn."
He looked at the giant boss's stats again.
__________

__________
"A-an undead King!!? And on top of that what's wring with these insane stats!!?"
Jay was completely baffled after seeing its level and skills. It had many S Rank Skills which only a few number of S rank beasts or monsters could have.

"Uhhh!! Dammit, it's good that I have killed the minions and it's slow in walking or else I would have been dead by now!", Jay was distracted by its stats so he wasn't paying attention to the surrounding.
He realized that immediately and rectified it.
But he was still confused over one thing, "No matter how I look at it, all the monsters in this dungeon seemed to be poisoned! Also their HP is quite less than their full... what exactly is going on?"
The huge monster was now suddenly serious when it detected Jay standing idly. It immediately gave out intense killing intent which made Jay nervous for a second.
It immediately tried to attack Jay by using its skill [DREAM EYE].
'Gooooooooohhhhh'
"Uhhh!!! What the... what's happening?"
Jay's mind felt as if it was going to burst. He was in great pain and the excessive pain was causing him to faint.
"Ughhh, Dammit... this is Dream Eye!?"
He didn't want to just faint right now since he didn't know when he would wake up again. If he would delay, then perhaps he would never wake up again.
He tried to resist the immense pain but the more he resisted the stronger the skill worked.
'Gooooo'
Jay's HP was dropping drastically and his health was getting worse. All his blood vessels were being seen and his face was completely red.
"Damn! I can't lose to a fucking A rank spell!!!"
He didn't want to admit but it was true that the spell was too strong. The reason was because it had a large range and it directly affected the mind which was one of the most vital parts of the body.
Jay now had no choice but to rely on his system.
"SYSTEM! Damn, HELP ME!"
He did feel his screaming to be pathetic but his life was even greater than that. His family's expressions flashed before his eyes and he was slowly getting drowned into a never ending abyss which was pitch dark!
'Gooooo'
Suddenly the huge gigantic undead king stopped the skill.
"Huff huff...", Jay was panting heavily. He had used up almost all of his strength in just resisting the skill. Now he was as good as a waste who had depleted all of his mana too.
"W-what just happened? Why did it stop all of a sudden?"
It would have been better if he hadn't asked but since he asked he should have been prepared for the answer.
The undead king turned back as quickly as possible as if it was trying to run away from something in fear. It was definitely not his system, nor any sort of power that was helping Jay out.
He was so worn out now that he couldn't even feel his own fingers. He tried to look back at the thing from which the great level 80 S Rank mister was running from only to be terrified again.
"What the hell is that....", he murmured out of nervousness.
"Is that even a monster anymore?"
He couldn't even hear his own voice. His throat had completely dried out while shouting from a few minutes ago. But he couldn't help but be shocked again by looking at the thing that was hanging upside down.
'DING DONG'
__________
[THE EIGHT HEADED UNDEAD BAT] has been detected.
- the system advices the host to kill it as soon as possible.
TIME LIMIT : 00:00:08:54 [ 8 minutes 54 seconds]
__________
He didn't have any words to describe. He was hating the system with all his heart for giving a mission such as this.
"If even such a strong boss monster ran away, then what am I in front of this...?"
He didn't think anything other than the inferiority that kept bugging him again and again.
But for a moment he thought he might stand a chance against such a power beast if it's HP would be less or if it has been poisoned.
"System, show it's status..."
'DING DONG'
__________
SCANING•••
__________
"Scanning? How long will it take? I hope it happens before—"
'DING DONG'
__________
[SCANMING COMPLETE]
[STATUS]
NAME: 8 Headed Bat
Level : ???
Rank : S
HP : ???/???
- Further information cannot be accessed due to the host's low level.
__________
"..."
"Did the system betray me at the most crucial time? The only thing I can see is its name and it's rank..."
Jay could only frown right now. It seems all his luck had run out. The only thing he could do right now is regret.
"Damn, I should have killed those spiders and gained some more levels..."

Four story anthology
[participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] [participant in #NaNoWriMo] Preface: This fiction will contain four different stories set up as a challenge for myself and to get better at writing. The challenge for royal road writathon is a 55.555 word goal while the nanowrimo challenge is 50.000 words. Reader suggestions is turned on, feel free to point out errors I missed and I'll fix them up! Chasing sun, napping softly: Cultivation/Xianxia genre. Some parts will poke at the ridiculousness of the Xianxia gerne. We follow the life of a magical fox monster, who doesn't like how the cultivation world works. Said beast seems to have more knowledge than is usual for normal magical beasts. In it's infinite wisdom it decided to search for the main character of the cultivation world to have a cozy and safe place beside him. Our fox will act as a "wise beast" to coast along on the main characters rise to greatness, all for peace, happiness and that amazing napping spot in the sun. The challenges for myself with this story: Writing in first person. Comedic effect between talking vaguely and sounding wise. The cost of heroism: A story more centered around fights and mental health of hired mercenaries/heroes. The world is infected with an eldritch corruption. Humans are trying their best to explore and clear out wilderness and the dungeons hiding in them to establish new cities. Lords seek for hired hands to do the professional work. Thanks to the setting, the story will show how awful pasts are the norm and how pragmatic people became thanks to that. People exchange their sanity for riches, fame and gods acceptance. Interpersonal relationships change drastically and quickly. The challenges for myself with this story: Writing grim scenes/imparting a feeling of how grim the world is. Writing fight scenes. Showing different mental states. Describing their influence on people during fights, walks or even after successful or failed campaigns. Who will be the next powerhouse? : A story about a gaming show, it's host Staan and the different participants. Stereotype characters, stereotype backstories, silly challenges and quizzes. The winner of those challenges gets powerups for their power system. Be it magic, ki, psychic power or anything else imaginable and unimaginable to reach the power of gods. The challenges for myself with this story: A softer tone for storytelling. Making the reader smile and enjoy themselves. A different try at slice of life story. I was left behind on earth as my family conquered another world and enjoys riches, but that's okey because I got a cheat too! : Stereotypical Isekai story parody twisted into an Urban Fantasy story. The challenges for myself with this story: Writing over the top and overdramatic scenarios/scenes Writing in first person. Walking into stereotypical scenarios and making them more dramatic/giving them a twist. Different type of humor.
