The Abandoned Hunter Chapter 164

Jay couldn't even follow Res' movements anymore with his eyes.
Even before he knew, Res had vanished and the sorcerers and he was clashing once again.
The shock wave was too intense and it seemed like the fight just continued.
Jay was hoping to help Res but he hesitated because he thought that he would become an hindrance instead of helping.
Res was quite a strong hunter who was recognised world wide.
Although he wasn't particularly known as an attacking oriented hunter, it was quite evident that his attacking power could even shake a whole island or a state.
That's what gave him his recognition as a fire master in hunters world.
However Jay didn't understand the reason for which Res was fighting the Sorcerer right now but he could sense a weird familiarity in both of them.
When took a closer look, he found out that both were fire type of sorcerers and after knowing that, he finally realised what might have happened.
'Are they trying to find out who is stronger along them?', Jay wondered.
He could see the Sorcerer smiling again and again when he attacked it dodged, but that expression wasn't present on Res' place.
In fact, it seemed like Res wanted to get some revenge or something else.
'Something is wrong...'
While Jay watched them, he felt that something weird was going on.
Both of them were fighting without taking any rest but the fact that the Sorcerer wasn't even braking a single drop of sweat when Res was completely drained out and was covered with blood was too much to be a coincidence.
'Ya... this is way too weird.'
'Why isn't the sorcerer's mana running out? Even if it is large, he should at least show some sight of being tired...'
'But the fact that he is completely fine is bugging me.', Jay thought.
He then turned his head back onmy timfind all the sorcerers on the ground who weee unconscious.
'And definitely... these cant be the so called sorcerers...'
He was lost in his own thoughts about them because it was too easy to defeat them.
For a moment he thought that they might have been acting but then again no Sorcerer who just lie down like that.
Furthermore he was sure that they were unconscious because even after the sting shock waves, they weee showing no signs of flinching or any other reaction.

'Hmm, was the system wrong?', Jay wondered.
'Or did I get too strong?', he wondered.
But nothing seemed to ring any bell in his mind.
No matter how hard he thought, he couldn't reach the answer or accept the fact that they were so weak.
Also, he hadn't even used the staff and the runes which he got from the dungeon so without that the chances of survival would have been least.
'Did the presence of Sir Res made the difference?', he thought.
"Hmm.., that might have been the case...", he said that in a low voice and waited for a chance to helo Res when all of a sudden a system notification appeared.
'Ding'
[ Warning ]
[ Host's Life Force Is Draining rapidly ]
[ The system recommeds the user to run away from the area as soon as possible ]
"..."
All of a sudden Jay's expression became gloomy when he saw the notification.
'What the... what do you mean by my life force is being drained?'
He couldn't feel any change on his body and the fact that the system was displaying such a notification was quite ridiculous.
Moreover it wasn't some thing that could happen just by standing so Jay was completely confused and he felt as if he could go crazy at any moment.
He wanted to ignore the system notification but then again he knew that nothing good would come out of it.
But he couldn't possibly do anything other than run away as per what the system recommended.
However he didn't want to do that since Res would be left alone.
That would basically be like him betraying Res which he couldn't do no matter what.
But right now he understood one thing that there was something going on that was sucking away his life force and that would mean that even Res would have been suffering from something similar.
Although he didn't have any idea about who it was that was doing something like this, he knew that the said person was close by.
'I can't feel the presence...'
He understood that the person might have been having quite extraordinary stealth abilities that was hiding his presence.
'But that doesn't mean that I can't find him...'
He closed his eyes and then concentrated his mind to the utmost.

He then slowly allowed his mana to flow around the area as if he was trying to cover the entire area with it.
Even after the mana had spread having quite a wide range which covered nearly 10 km radius on each direction, he couldn't find the said person.
He started to wonder if his assumption could have been wrong but then again the life force being sucked away couldn't have been started automatically.
'They aren't towards my right...'
'Nor are the present towards my left...'
'...'
'Then the only places present are...'
'The top... and the bottom.'
He almost immediately turned his gazes towards the sky onny to find someone floating in the air.
"Huh...?"
His eyes were quite efficient to observe this since they had undergone quite a lot of modifications but that didn't mean that he could picture everything clearly.
Jay forced his eyes a bit do that he could see properly.
'Ding'
[ You have used the skill The Eye Of Darkness ]
[ Your vision has been increased by 900% ]
[ All unseen and hidden objects are visible if present within the range of 100 km radius ]
He unknowingly ended up using the skill which he had almost forgotten about.
The skill Bird's view had evolved into the Eye of darkness earlier thanks to which right now his vision had sharpened.
'Huh...!?'
He was completely surprised to see someone floating in the air.
He had green hair with some silver linings. Furthermore he was surrounded by some green aura.
Right after that when he turned his gazes towards the ground, he found some markings that was shining quite brightly.
"The heck!?", he was shocked to see the markings which seemed no less than some magical inscriptions.
All this time he had been standing there without even realising the fact that there was a maguc curcle right under his feet.
'Don't tell me...'
'This is the thing that is sucking away my life force?'
Jay was shocked to see that and finally understood why the system warned him.
He thanked himself for listening to the system's Warning.
He then took a look at the battle that was till going on.
He could see that Res' life force was also slowly dissipating and probably because of battle he had failed to realise this.
Furthermore it seemed like he was getting tired too fast and now Jay understood the reason behind that.
But at the same time he wondered about the fire Sorcerer who was also standing in the same area and was fighting Res.
'If Res' life force is being drained, doesn't that mean that the sorcerer's life force also should have been sucked!?'
What Jay thought was completely legit.
Without a doubt he was correct that the Sorcerer's life force also should have been sucked up. But as per his observations, there was nothing like that happening.
In fact, it seemed as if the Sorcerer wasn't getting tired at all even while he was battling on the circle.
'Don't tell me... his power is so huge that this maguc curcle isn't having any effect on him...', Jay wondered.
But that would have been highly impossible because he too was getting hit by Res' attack again and again.
So that meant that he wasn't all that powerful to avoid or dodge all of Res' attack so it was definite that his life force also should have been drained.
Jay took a keen interest and watched him even closely and ended up finding something rather interesting that ended up giving him a shock yet again.
'Are you kidding me...?', he was awed when he took a keen look at the Sorcerer who was battling right now.
'Now I get it... the reason why his life force isn't being sucked up is because of those circles that are placed on him...'
Jay had completely noticed that there were two more circles on the body of the Sorcerer which were shining with a similar yellow light as it was visible to Jay.
'If I'm not wrong, one of those circles is preventing his life force from being sucked while the other one is gathering all the life force sucked from me and sir Res to his body...'
He finally realised the reason for which the fire Sorcerer was completely fine and then decided to take a good care of it.
'Tsk, I guess I now know where others are...'
'Perhaps... the true battle will start the moment I smash this trick of theirs...'
"..."
To be continued...
