The Abandoned Hunter Chapter 176

Jay had finally decided to go and have a re-evaluation. Of course, he wanted fame and name since he wanted to be the strongest hunter.
But more than that, he wanted to help his mother right now.
He had a few ideas to help her one of which included selling items from the inventory.
Needless to say, he had many items in inventory that were not that rare to find however he had tons of them!
They could easily fetch him some good price and thanks to that there won't be a money problem for quite some time, at least as long as he worked as a hunter and hunted more beasts.
He could see Sera in the next room where some doctors were seeing if she was mentally alright.
'It was all my fault...'
'I should have realized that the sorcerers would come after my family...'
Technically, it wasn't Jay's fault because he never once thought that the information would spread so quickly that they would start their attack by the time Jay had returned from the other country.
Of course, now he regretted the fact that he wasn't using the good memory that he was born with.
He did have a pretty good IQ, he could basically recall everything from his childhood.
Indeed, he was able to memorize anything in an instant, however, what he lacked were patience and common sense!
Also, he had to think about everything logically and scientifically despite the fact that magic and special skills existed.
He sat on top of a building and thought all this while looking at Sera via the window.
'Now I'm aware of what I should be doing next...'
Indeed, the first thing now that he had to do was to announce his increased ranking to the world.

He thought that he was good enough to announce that. Well, he was preying after the benefits that came with the higher rank.
But that didn't mean that he disregarded the dangers of being a high ranker!
Whatever it may be, he thought about fighting all those things head-on.
'I need to go and use these keys that I had received earlier.', he thought while looking at all the keys that he had received earlier.
He knew one thing, whatever the system did was to make him stronger, however, he had no idea why the system chose him.
This thought struck him when he started to think deeply about it.
It could have been anyone else, so what was the reason that he became the host to carry a system.
What exactly was the system and how was it able to punish him or give him skills? That was another question that dwelled in his mind.
"Let's go back for now...", just after saying he teleports away.
He was a student even now however he thought that it was no longer necessary for him to study. Although he was 18, he wanted to do greater things.
This he decided to drop out which he wanted to do on his own and for that a reasonable incident or reasons were to be provided and Jay thought that being a high tanker was a good enough reason.
At least, that's what he thought. He had basically bet his everything on his rank.
Although he already knew about his rank from the system, he doubted that in human terms the ranks might have been different due to which he thought about giving it a try.
But little did he know that he would be completely surprised when his rank would be revealed!

He passed the day and asked Res to let him take the re-Evaluation or retest. Res was more than excited to welcome him because he too wanted to know where Jay stood.
Jay arrived on time as Res had mentioned. The Hunter Association's guild was quite huge.
Jay was baffled by it, but in any case, he just walked calmly as if trying to be cool.
Since it was Sunday, most of the hunters were off duty. That was the same for other higher officials due to which Res held the highest power right now.
This meant that he would be able to allow Jay to take another test and no one would be able to complain about it.
"Come here Jay, place your hands on this crystal..."
A huge white crystal was placed at exactly the center of the completely white room.
"Alright...", Jay placed his right hand on the crystal.
'Huh? That's weird...'
'Why isn't it showing any reactions?', Res was confused.
He waited for more than five minutes but even now there was no reaction on the crystal.
Moreover, the machine that was connected to the crystal read Jay's magic power as 'Zero'. This surprised Res even more.
'That's weird...'
'This has never happened before...'
In any case, Jay was getting bored by continuously placing his hand on the crystal for more than thirty minutes.
He was waiting for the results but the Evaluation never did occur in the first place!
"I'm sorry Jay, but it seems like the crystal isn't working...", was what Res said.
"Huh?", now Jay was confused.
He didn't waste his time on anything, at least that's how it was supposed to be.
Res could see that Jay was irritated by that.
"Hmm, let's do one thing..."
"Defeat me in a battle..."
"That way I will be able to give you a rank up!", was what Res said.
Without wasting his time, Jay moved with his fastest speed and punched Res with all of his strength.
'Ding'
[ You have used the skill Dash ]
'Bam'
Jay thought that Res would be able to last longer, however, with just one attack, Res was forced on his knees.
Res was powerful for sure, way more powerful than most S rankers, however, he was injured.
Probably because of that Jay's Attacks had double the effects? Well yes, Jay was strong too, so strong that he could take down Res!
It was needless to worry about his rank!
To be continued...

The Eldritch Horror Returns to Earth, but Things are a Bit Different
One day, Adam B. Windsley was in this world, and then, he wasn't. Suddenly trasported into a strange world called Lutum, Adam finds himself in the body of a small, unassuming slug, and during the course of 600 years, he evolved beyond the scope of humans, becoming one of the Five Evil Gods, worshipped by his followers and treated as a God would. But he isn't happy. And after some time reaquainting himself with humans, he finds himself enjoying their company. But, in a sudden twist of events, he finds himself back in his own world. But he is still a giant tentacle-covered monstoristy. And where did these magical girls come from?... --------- In short, this is a story focusing on a somewhat edgy reincarnated-as-a-monster kind of guy who returned back to his world on the day of his transferral, only for strange, unusual things to happen. Monsters from his past world start popping up out of the blue, and ordinary people are suddenly learning of sorcery, becoming magical girls in the process. In terms of structure, it will mostly be about what happens to Adam after coming back, but at times, there will also be chapters focusing on Adam's life before his transferred, in chronological order. In other words, very typical isekai stuff. The chapters will be between 2000 and god-only-knows-how-many words and will be released every three days at 8 am, CST. I don't actually live in America so if chapter release is off by an hour or so, it's probably either because I messed up with the time, or because I was unable to finish a chapter on time-, The artwork on the cover belongs to yours truly, I drew it myself and I'm darn tootin' proud of it, and Omni is my dear co-writer who got me this far. Couldn't do it without him! With that said, I do hope you enjoy, as I did put way too much effort into it... Enjoy!

Mordheim: Servants of The Damned (A Warhammer Fantasy Fiction)
“The Great Library,” Stated the stranger with a pause. “You know of it?”“Of course I do. In the Merchant’s Quarter?”“Yes, in the Merchant’s Quarter. I have gathered that there is an… artefact of importance within its walls.” Slowly, the figure produced a rusted key from the furls of his robes and held it in a black-gloved hand. “This opens the door to its chambers. It is the grimoire of Gunnar von Krugenheim, and I believe that it would serve better in the world than locked away in a dusty room.” Behind the cursed walls of Mordheim, warbands and gangs of all stripes are embattled in constant wars for resources and power. The cursed city attracts throngs in the thousands, searching for treasures, artefacts, power, and sometimes all three. The Cult of the Hidden Brethren is no exception, and when an opportunity to extend their reach is discovered, the cultists are eager to take the opportunity. However, not all is set in stone, and soon the cultists discover that the lure of power alone may not be enough to give them the drive required to see their quest done... --- Mordheim: Servants of the Damned is a fanfiction set in the world of Warhammer Fantasy, which is not owned by me but by the company Games Workshop. I of course, lay claim to nothing in this story but the characters I have created, and the core events of the story itself. This is my first true foray into fantasy writing, let alone Warhammer Fantasy, therefore any feedback is welcome. (It should be noted as well, the cover art is merely an artwork I found online and is not mine, therefore I do not lay claim to that either.)

Campaign: A Project Starfarer Sidestory
This novel’s lore, story and characters are entirely fictitious. Certain long-standing countries, institutions, organizations, agencies, and public offices are mentioned, but their histories and the characters involved are wholly imaginary. "What will you do with your freedom?"Growing up in a meritocracy, infamous for being lawless, Jordan Astros had been repeatedly asked this question, since times unmemorable. In a society where one's accomplishments and skills were tallied and ranked in order to determine one's standard of living however, Jordan quickly grew to understand that 'freedom,' was a reward earned by accumulating Merit. And so, after his 17th birthday, Jordan departed his Clan's habitat in orbit of Europa to embark on his century-long journey to rise from E-Ranker to S-Rank. And spread his name throughout the Galilean Powers. *** Campaign is a sidestory within its NanoPunk parent series, Project Starfarer. (Yet to be published. Be on the lookout for it!) In which the first transhuman known to humanity, the Starfarer, invokes a plan to seed terrestrial life throughout the galaxy. Campaign takes place around the middle of that timeline and explores the life of a key figure in that universe, Jordan Astros. And explores one of four great nations thriving in the Solar System during that time. A Meritocracy that spans Jupiter and its 79 moons, The Galilean Powers. What you'll find in Campaign: Brutal melee combat in airless and pressurized low gravity environments. A technology based progression system influenced by merit and accomplishments; using tech that's theoretically possible to exist in the near-future. An exploratory perspective of the dozens of Galilean societies, or 'Powers,' from Jordans; and sometimes others', POV. What you wont find: Romance. Harems. An MC who receives shortcuts, handouts, learns things unnaturally fast or has OP plot armor. Jordan is not a special individual. Jordan is not OP and he likely never will be. He's no different than any other citizen in the Galilean Powers and will certainly face as many defeats as he does wins. He'll suffer losses and grow as an individual, while the Powers evolves around him as well. This is semi-hard sci-fi/NanoPunk and takes place in a fictional version of our future solar system. Centered around technology that's plausible in the near-centuries to come. Everything abides by the laws of physics/thermodynamics (As best that I understand them, at least. I'm no scientist.) No artificial gravity, inertial dampeners, teleportation, FTL, or hand-wavy materials will be found in the Project Starfarer universe. Just advanced automation, nanotechnology, cybernetics and AI. Set in the backdrop of space. *I do not own the photo used for the cover*
