The Abandoned Hunter Chapter 178

"Don't worry Jay, it wasn't your fault...", was what Res said.
Of course, he knew the value of the crystal however he thought about consoling Jay.
However, he had no idea about what actually happened to the crystals. Well, he was scratching his head while thinking of a reason to explain it to the higher-ups when suddenly many of the higher-ups entered the room.
All of them worked in the hunter's association in handling many things. Many of them were in charge of the crystal and had arrived exactly at that moment when Res was trying to think of a reason to explain to them.
"Sir Res, the crystal...", all of them were breathing heavily.
They were panting so heavily as if they had run quite a lot of distance and had arrived at the place in a hurry.
They didn't even take a look at Jay who was standing right where the crystal was placed. All they did was ask Res about the crystal and that was the very first thing they did.
"The crystal...", Res slowly looked towards the shattered pieces that were lying on the ground.
In fact, his own eyeballs were shaking vigorously as he had no idea as to what they would say. Indeed, a hunter is given special privileges and a hunter such as Res, who holds quite the power and acts as one of the main weapons of a country, couldn't;t be looked down upon.
He was definitely much more worthy than some crystal because they could always find another one. But they had no idea where to find it, therefore it made the crystal's value quite equivalent to Res.
Res looked at Jay who was finally back to his senses. Jay was also staring at the shattered pieces of the crystals in awe. It was as if he was wondering what had happened.
A female and a male, both in a black suit hurried after looking at something shiny near Res' feet.
"No way, is that..."
"Is that the crystal!?", the lady asked.
Their voices were shaking as they spoke. In fact, they were speechless and were hardly able to speak.

Res thought that it was best if he were to apologize even before they could say anything when suddenly, they started to speak which in fact took all the blame away from Jay as well as Res.
"Actually the crystal was broken by...", that was all that Res could say.
"Not this too..."
"Now all the crystals that could measure the S rankers are broken!", was what the female said.
"Huh?", the moment when Res heard that, he was confused and shocked at the same time.
First of all, they didn't give the reaction that he was expecting. He thought that they would start shouting and blaming someone, at least Jay who was standing nearby, but they did nothing like that.
Also, they said something weird about the breaking of all the crystals that could measure the S rankers' powers. Needless to say, that meant that all the three crystals that humanity possessed that could help them get strong S rankers were broken completely!
A thing to note was that all the three crystals broke one by one. They were so precious that they shook the entire agency that was situated all over the world.
No one would be foolish enough to release the news, and it had hardly been ten minutes since this had happened. But indeed, the explosive noise that other crystals made, caught the attention of many reporters from the nearby area.
So there were a lot of rumors that had started in those ten minutes. Needless to say, all the authorities came to know about the shattering of the crystals.
"We have to report this to Sir Jake soon....", was what the male said.
Right after that both of them got up and turned their gazes towards Res.
"Sir Res, please accompany us to meet Sir Jake."
"Since you were here, we would like to ask you to work as the witness...", was what she said.
Res had no reason to deny that. In fact, he was satisfied for a moment with what had happened.
He thought that he would be blamed for the breaking of the crystal but that didn't happen. IN the end, Jay and Res were both saved.

"And you, please come with us.", was what the male said.
"Huh? Me?", Jay asked.
"He?", Res also asked.
"Isn't one witness enough?"
"Why would you ask him to come with us?", was what Res asked.
Well, he was right. There was absolutely no need for Jay to come with them but it seemed like the authorities insisted on bringing him along.
The reason was quite simple, they didn't want the information about the shattering of crystals to be made public.
SInce Jay was an outsider, they couldn't let him go just like that. They had to keep him with them and prevent him from revealing anything about that since they had no info on him.
Jay cooperated with them. Although he wanted to know what the voice was and who was calling for help, he went along with them for now that is.
The Guild Leader or the leader of the association was someone who knew Jay. In fact, he had met him once earlier in the hospital, though, Jay had no interest in him earlier.
*tap tap*
They walked away as soon as possible after collecting all the shattered pieces.
In a moment they reached the ling black car that waited outside the building.
All of them sat in the same car, which had space for more than ten members. Right after that, they drove it swiftly towards the 2nd headquarters of the Hunter association where the Head of the association, Jake, waited for them.
It took them roughly two hours to travel all the way to the other headquarters. Well, it was built 61 Km away after all. Also, they had to deal with traffic too, so it did take quite some time.
In any case, they arrived at the other place. The building was quite similar to the previous one in case of size and design. Nevertheless, they got out of the car and dashed towards the building.
Of course, they had shown their IDs. The officials went in without showing any IDs since they visited the place on a daily basis.
However, Res and Jay had to show their Ids. Well, it was mandatory for every hunter and others to show the Id. Res flashed his S rank ID card right after seeing which all of them stood straight with their chests upright as if they were paying respect.
Right after they passed, their behavior changed to that of a slacker. Their eyes seemed dead too as if they had no interest in working there or perhaps they were too tired after working the entire day.
Jay then flashed his newly issued ID card right after seeing which their expressions changed again. Respect could be seen on their faces. They had a glow of smile as if they were completely different persons alltogether.
Well, A rank was also a high rank and was considered very difficult to get so it was understandable.
Regardless, Jay entered the building and then followed Res and the others. It was his first time entering the building.
It was massive indeed but it didn't feel much different from the previous building so it was not uncomfortable.
Anyway, they got in a lift which went up to the twenty-fifth floor. Finally, they got off the lift and then arrived in front of the door of the office of the Guild Master or otherwise the head of the Hunter Association.
*knock knock*
"Sir Jake, Telia reporting...", the female, whose name seemed to be Telia, knocked on the door.
The male authority seemed to have gone towards some other room to bring some reports perhaps.
"Yes, come in.", that was the only voice heard but it was quite dominant.
Needless to say, it was a voice befitting a leader!
Right after hearing that, Telia opened the door by gently pushing it. She then entered the room while carrying the black cloth in which the shattered pieces of the crystal were put. Following her, Res entered and then Jay.
The Aura that was liberated right after entering the room was breathtaking. Jay did feel that aura. It was as if he got goosebumps because the aura resembled the aura of the sorcerer who had escaped earlier!

My House of Horrors
The hearse with the weird odor slowed to a stop before the entrance. The sound of pebbles could be heard bouncing on the ceiling. There were footsteps coming from the corridor, and there seemed to be someone sawing next door. The door knob to the room rattled slightly, and the faucet in the bathroom kept dripping even though it had been screwed shut. There was a rubber ball that rolled on its own underneath the bed. Wet footsteps started to surface one after another on the floor. At 3 am, Chen Ge held a cleaver in his hand as he hid beside the room heater. The call he was trying to make was finally answered. “Landlord, is this what you meant by ‘the house can be a little crowded at night’‽”

Parallels
Parallels are a constant in life. Our friends' lives often run parallel to ours; we share similar experiences or tastes- perhaps even both. Sometimes, however, opposites attract- and our lives run perpendicular. In that case, we are not attracted by similarities; rather, we are attracted to the differences in others. So, what happens when two parallels are broken apart? What might happen to them? Are they forever doomed to run alongside each other, never seeing one another, never meeting? Or, perhaps, might they be spun about? Could these lines that formerly ran alongside one another meet? Could they possibly be set perpendicular? Any feedback is welcome, so long as it is constructive. Also, you may not use any characters, ideas, places, or what have you that I present here without my explicit permission. A note: This is a story which I began over a year ago, but never got around to finishing- it feels about time to really get it going. Now, there are a couple of things about the story, and myself, that need to be said. First and foremost, there's a slow start, but by the third-fourth chapter things should be speeding up a bit. Secondly, in regards to release speed and/or word count per chapter, I make no promises- my schedule is fairly random, and in regards to word count, I will cut off any chapter at any point that feels appropriate to me- that may include cliffhangers, if necessary. I'm not trying to reach a specific word count, I am trying to create a cohesive story, with pseudo-appropriate chapter breaks. This means I will also not rush a half-baked release for the sake of getting a release out. Thirdly, I will make any edits, anywhere in the story and at any time, that strike me as necessary- typically being wording and/or formatting changes, but I may also decide to change major plot points- in that case I would put a notification in the next chapter released. Finally, and most importantly, I am a Christian; this story is intended to at least moderately reflect those values. So, if you particularly dislike any of these things, feel free to look elsewhere, and don't let the door hit you on the way out. God bless, friends.
