Chapter 1 – Troubles of a Side Character

Xiao Daiyu felt that her future seemed bleak.

She looked down at her dirty little hands that clearly belonged to a malnourished kid and ached whenever she tried moving her feet that had cramped up from constantly crouching. Her hair was so dirty and overgrown people could confuse her for any mutt found in the street.

Currently, one of the top agents from the underworld, whose bounty reached billions, was nothing but a weak child whose life and death was no longer in her hands.

Worse yet, she had become a side character who would go on to serve the main characters as a cannon fodder.

As the «unnamed» agent, Xiao Daiyu would rather die than leave something unfinished, so when she started a dog-blood drama about an innocent white lotus and a playboy that changes his ways after meeting the female lead, she could only finish it even if it was very cliche. But, aside from needing to wash her eyes after reading it, she was too traumatized to read another novel.

The story focused on the female lead, Li Yun, and her crush on the playboy male lead, Du Lin. They have a one night stand and the female lead halo does its job by making Du Lin unable to forget Li Yun, but makes him want her even more.

Meanwhile, on the sidelines, the male lead’s father was infamous for smuggling drugs and unlicensed weapons into the country.

The villain’s mother and father, who worked in a special anti-crime squad in the military, took on a special mission to identify and catch the infamous smuggler. But at the end, they were unable to catch him and half of their squad died during the mission, including the villain’s mother.

The villain’s father loved his wife very much, so he made it his mission to make the male lead’s father pay for the death of his precious wife. He used his mercenary team, which he secretly funded, to further investigate the male lead’s father.

After finding him, he decided to take justice into his own hands and make him suffer. But before he could, the president found out about his secret mercenary group and claimed that they were a terrorist group. Their team was intercepted on their way to the male lead’s house by the military.

The villain’s father was arrested and the male lead’s father took the chance and killed him before he could bring the truth to light.

By then, the villain had blackened after losing both of his parents unfairly. The villain’s father’s mercenary group were treated as terrorists and had to go on the run. Everyone associated with them was persecuted by the president. The villain barely survived with the help of the remaining anti-crime squad.

It turned out that the villain had formed his own mercenary group. He used his military merits to get his hands on military weapons and used them, along with his mercenary group, to illegally bombard the male lead’s house, killing the male lead’s father.

The male lead survived and he inherited his father’s business

The villain was caught and sentenced to a life time imprisonment, but was executed in secret. The mercenary group committed suicide after their leader died since they had no one to follow.

Even an idiot could figure out that the villain’s father was innocent and that he was caught in a conspiracy between the president and the male lead’s father.

But none of that was of her concern…

Her role in the novel was very simple. She would be picked up by a human trafficker who ends up being the male lead’s father and serves his family for the next 15 years. She, unfortunately, also becomes one of the male lead’s many ‘bed maids’.

Her death was even more tragic. In order to protect themselves while their house was being attacked by the villain, the male lead and his family use their servants, herself included, as meat shields.
