Chapter 2 – A Kind Police Officer

As long as she wasn’t caught by the human traffickers, she would avoid the catastrophe that the character went through.

She was currently in the body of a child. A malnourished child with no money. Her biggest concerns were not having a place or money to live with. She was better off finding an orphanage that could take her in, otherwise the only options left were starving or the human traffickers.

But since she was given this second chance at life, it would be a pity to waste it by allowing herself to starve.

“Sir, I’m hungry. Do you know where I can find food?” Xiao Daiyu looked up at the police officer and lightly tugged his pants to call for his attention to her.

Although her face was dirty, her smart eyes and charming smile made her look cute and naughty.

The kind hearted officer’s heart immediately melted with pity for the small child.

“I’ll buy you some bread and milk, come with me,” the officer kept the questions he had since the child was still hungry. He should take her to eat first and then question on where her parents were.

The kind officer bought her food and only when she finished eating did the officer ask her questions.

“How old are you?”

“I don’t know,” she was telling the truth, as a side character, the novel didn’t even mention how old she was. She also did not receive the previous owner’s memories, so she was clueless as to what her background was.

“Where are your parents? You’re so young!” The officer was shocked, the girl looked like she was only 5!

“Don’t know,” Xiao Daiyu replied curtly, but she looked down and smiled naively, “I hope I can find them!”

“You… You should not talk to strangers, and when someone tells you to follow them, don’t.”

This kid was so dirty, she must’ve been in the streets for a while now. Although she looked scrawny because of not being able to eat enough food, she was cute, especially her eyes. It was a pity her parents lost her, the officer was quite glad she encountered him. If she was unlucky and found by human traffickers… he did not even want to think about what her future would look like.

“But I followed you and you gave me food! Mister, you are so kind!” Xiao Daiyu beamed at the police officer.

Before the kind officer could ask more questions, a police car halted in front of them and honked loudly.

“Officer Gu! There’s an emergency call! There is a bank being robbed! I’ll tell you the details on the way! Get in!”

“But-” officer Gu looked at Xiao Daiyu hesitantly. The kid would probably get kidnapped or die if he just left her here!

The officer in the car had seen a bit of their interaction earlier and sneered at his partner’s soft heartedness. He knew they would be slowed down if he continued to hesitate.

“Just bring the kid or whatever, just don’t let her get out of the car!”

“Alright!”

Who am I? What is happening?

You’re not even asking me if I want to go?

If she was not completely sure that they were police officers, she would’ve thought that this was a new complex way to kidnap children…

In the end, officer Gu easily put her into the police car and they set off with the wail of the siren.

Xiao Daiyu: . . .

If these two were human traffickers, she wouldn’t have the strength to fight back at all! She would simply be thrown in the car!

This fact made Xiao Daiyu more sure that she needed to stay in an orphanage for a while before she was able to build up her strength again.

She listened to the two officers talking in the front.

Apparently, there was an armed bank heist happening in Section B District 47. The robbers had firearms and kept hostages. And the police officers, like idiots, decided to take a child with them.

If she knew any police officers that did something like this in her past life, she would’ve thrown them right back to training!
