Chapter 7 – Cleaned Up

The police officers took Xiao Daiyu back with them to find her parents while Mr. Chen went back with them in his own car. They met again in the police station, but he had brought a child only two years older than Xioa Daiyu with him. Weirdly enough the child seemed to be staring intently at her.

Back in the police station, officer Gu and his partner were scolded by their chief for bringing a civilian, a child at that, to the crime scene.

“Sir, he wasn’t able to shoot because the safety pin was on, but the weird thing is, his magazine was missing one bullet. How-” superintendent Luo reported.

Chen Feng cut him off with a hum in and gave some chocolate milk prepared by the police station to Xiao Daiyu.

“Thank you mister!” Xiao Daiyu smiled happily, receiving the cup.

She had decided to forgive him for taunting the suspect earlier, but only after realizing that he had only said it to distract the subject and make him panic.

It was because the man was distracted by the taunting that she was able to slap the gun away while switching the safety pin on, though no one would think that it was her who did it.

“Lass, come here, let’s get you cleaned up,” a female police officer came up to her with a smile. She reluctantly put down her cup then trotted with the police officer towards the back of the police station.

Shan Yijun’s gaze followed her back until she disappeared down the hall.

“She looks familiar,” Shan Yijun frowned but he couldn’t place her face.

“She’s the little girl that entered the forest earlier. If you can’t even remember that, you must be getting old,” Chen Feng teased.

Cheng Feng told him exactly what he said about him earlier, which spooked him. If he wasn’t sure that his uncle had gone out to the forest to catch a criminal, he would have thought that he had been eavesdropping in his conversation with old butler Shan. He didn’t think that the old butler would tell on him, especially to his uncle.

Shan Yijun glared at him but didn’t elaborate.

“Uncle, do you truly believe that one of Blood Sucking Vendetta’s people would be stupid enough to leave their safety pin on during a life and death situation?”

Chen Feng was surprised by his nephew’s sudden interest but didn’t show it to his face. He shook his head silently and stared down the hall towards where the little radish had left.

Xiao Daiyu came back clean and in new clothes. Everyone in the police station was surprised by how cute and good looking the little girl was. While she was walking back to where she left her chocolate milk, everyone greeted her and some even pinched her cheeks.

She found that the kid Mr. Chen brought with him was still there, staring at her.

On the other hand, the more Shan Yijun looked at Xiao Daiyu the more familiar she looked.

Xiao Daiyu gulped down her chocolate milk quickly, as if she was afraid someone would snatch it from her.

Chen Feng watched her with an amused expression.

“No one will fight you for it, you can even have some more if you want,” after Chen Feng’s kind reminder she slowed down and enjoyed her drink.

Once finished, Xiao Daiyu put her empty cup down and went to where Chen Feng was sitting

Superintendent Luo rushed to stop her but was halted by Chen Feng’s cold glance.

He really wanted to cry.

He was repeatedly told of how Mr. Chen didn’t spare anyone, even children when he was on a mission and that he has a huge case of mysophobia, how could he allow her to sit so close to him without permission?!?

While superintendent Luo was having a crisis on how to deal with the situation without the cute little girl dying in Chen Feng’s hands, the child in question suddenly grabbed Chen Feng’s hand. The superintendent almost had a heart attack.

“Mister I’ll tell you your fortune, but in exchange, you have to send me to an orphanage,” Xiao Daiyu said seriously.

Before Chen Feng or the superintendent could react, she had already started reading his palm.

“Mister, you have a good fortune! I can see that in the future you will have a daughter, she’s very cute. But I’m cuter of course,” she said while tracing the lines from his palm and didn’t forget to praise herself while at it.

This amused Chen Feng.

“Alright you cheeky brat. We’ll send you to an orphanage now,” he said while smiling and messed with her hair a bit.

Superintendent Luo was surprised after seeing Chen Feng smile. Wasn’t this the famous General known for being a sly fox? Known for his cruelty and effectiveness when completing missions???

Xiao Daiyu was quite pleased with herself, she now didn’t have to wait to go to an orphanage. She was now sure she wouldn’t get involved in the original plot of the novel.

She could even earn a bit of money by fortune telling!! With her cuteness all adults would basically throw their money at her! She could make so much money!

“Yijun, are you coming?”

Shan Yijun simply shook his head while in deep thoughts. He continued to intently stare at Xiao Daiyu, which was now making her uncomfortable, though all that could be seen on her face was a smile.

Long after the two had left he looked up startled. He finally realized why she looked so familiar. Although he wasn’t quite sure how accurate his guess was, he decided to text his uncle about his theory.
