Yun Xuan had a nervous expression as she waited to hear his reply.

After a long wait came the man's 'pained' voice. "Are you trying to say that you are not good enough for him? My Xuanxuan deserved the best."

"Dad, I deserve the best and that's why I can only marry Tyler. Besides, isn't Lu Aotian already in love?" she said stubbornly.

General Yun looked at his daughter in curiosity. Isn't she supposed to be exploding at the mention of Lu Aotian? He had believed that since Lu Aotian and Wan Jia knew what happened, then Wan Jia must have told her about it. Weren't they always sticking around each other as friends?

He took the chance to twist the facts. "Xuanxuan, you are too naïve. That man didn't want to let you go. He even..." at this point, he sighed.

Yun Xuan almost bit her tongue. Keep acting! It's fun to act anyway. She forced herself to put on a curious expression and asked between gritted teeth. "He did what?"

The man flipped the whole story. "He intentionally faked your divorce so that you couldn't marry anyone else."

"What?" She was trully shocked at her father's ability to lie. Had he always been like this?

But General Yun thought she was shocked at how sinister she must think Lu Aotian was. He continued to sow misunderstandings. "Xuanxuan, he even...he even wanted to frame me for murder." his pride was all shed off and he put on an extremely wronged facade silently begging for sympathy.

Since his daughter loved him so much, she would surely explode in anger and would then help him go against that man.

Little did he know that in her heart , she was crying at how stupid this man looked right now.

Such terrible things to think of the man who brought her up but circumstances had forced her to that point.

She probed further. "You plan to let it go?"

"Of course not!" he shouted. "I want to make him regret everything. It's not the first time he's going against me."

"You still want me to marry a man who is against you?" This was of course the main point. Since he hated Lu Aotian so much, why was he still praising him so much and wanting to give her to him in marriage? They were visibly enemies. Was he going to use her to make amends with Lu Aotian?

"Xuanxuan, there are things you don't really know. Such as, marriage is not always meant for peace." he said.

"What do you mean?"

"My daughter is so beautiful that no man can resist.... If you marry Lu Aotian, you only have to be together for one year. One year is enough for me as long as you help me, then you will divorce him and marry whoever you want. Just....just don't get pregnant with his child."

Yun Xuan forgot about inviting Yun Jifeng to her engagement party and left the house. Actually, she had fled at top speed. If she had wings she would have flown instead.

What did her father mean "marry Lu Aotian for a year but not get pregnant, it would be enough time for him"?

Yun Xuan took a whole lot of water to calm her spinning brain and chose to ignore her father's words. He had said that he was giving her time to think about it. What was there to think, huh? About how she was supposed to betray her man and her best friend by seducing and marrying Lu Aotian? There was definitely something wrong with the way she had entered the Yun mansion.

She took a deep breath and called Wan Jia.

At southside Villas,

the 'boring' Lu Aotian was sitting on the sofa reading a business magazine as his cheeky woman teased him. Little Jia, as usual, had insisted on remaining in the old residence for a day.

She had nothing to do in Southside Villa apart from play and eat anyway, so they let her stay a little more.

Wan Jia made funny faces at him when she saw how absorbed he was in reading those complicated business statistics and achievements of legends in the business world. She found such things terribly boring.

"What's so nice to read there? How are those boring things more beautiful than me?" she asked when he didn't give her any reaction no matter how many animal faces she made.

"How are you more beautiful than them?" he asked back.

Wan Jia took a while to understand him and slumped beside him angrily. Did he mean she was uglier? She looked at him miserably then looked down like she was about to cry.

Lu Aotian reached out to rub her head. "Don't cry. Don't you know you're the most beautiful thing that has ever graced the earth?"

Wan Jia was about to throw a mock tantrum when her phone interrupted.
