Lu Shaoting looked at Wan Jia like he was looking at his saviour. "I'm not in love with her! And even if I was, don't you want me to have a wife? That way, you will have someone to play with, and when we have kids, Little Jia will have playmates too."

"Then why don't you ask your brother to help you investigate her?"

"Definitely not! My brother would kill me."

"Then why don't you investigate her yourself?"

"Are you kidding? My brother and I are so connected that if I investigated someone behind his back, he would find out."

Wan Jia was now successfully annoyed and was about to kick him away when she heard familiar footsteps behind her. "What are you two talking about?"

They did not know it, but they looked like business people in the midst of very serious negotiations.

Lu Shaoting begged his sister-in-law with his eyes before he smiled at his brother. "Nothing. I was just asking sister-in-law if she's having it hard at work."

Who was he fooling? Lu Aotian had known him for twenty seven years and knew instantly that he was up to something not-so-pleasant. He shot him a warning glare before picking his wife off the sofa.

He sat her on his lap and started talking about Su Ling. It was as though he had just joined in their discussion and merely changed the topic.

"What I want to find out right now is Su Ling's motive for finding you." He said to Wan Jia.

Wan Jia cleared her throat. "Up till now, she only does her work efficiently and has not done anything suspicious.

Lu Aotian hummed under his breath. "It could be that she is stalling for time and trying to win your trust."

Lu Shaoting quickly chimmed in. "Or it could be that she doesn't have any motive and merely wanted a job. Not everyone has ill motives, you know."

Lu Aotian: "Birds of a feather flock together. She is a friend of Mo Zilian and she schemed against your sister-in-law before. I don't believe she merely came to find a job. Couldn't she work elesewhere?"

Lu Shaoting: "Maybe she couldn't find a job anywhere else? Anyway, she only did bad things before. People change and besides, she only stole some drafts. Why are the two of you sounding like she's a murderer?"

Lu Aotian immediately glared at him. "Stand up!"

Lu Shaoting stood and was confused when his brother glanced at the sofa behind him. "Bro, What's wrong?"

"I just wanted to check if you have placed your brain under your butt. But no, it seems to be in a place where the sun doesn't shine. How can you defend such a person Lu Shaoting! Has your brain been fed to the dogs?"

Lu Shaoting, whose temper had always been even, did not know why it happened but he completely lost it. "I'm merely thinking like a human being. Why can't I defend a woman who hasn't ever wronged me? May I remind you, my dear brother, not only did you blindly fall in love with a woman who you knew was lying to you, you even took her back after she betrayed you and aren't you planning to get married?"

"Watch your tongue!"

Lu Shaoting smirked and left.

Lu Aotian was more shocked than angry. Ever since Lu Shaoting was born, he had never really lost his temper. And now he did because of Su Ling? What in the world had happened to his brother when he was not watching?

Wan Jia panicked. "Aotian, let's go home. He's just a little confused right now. Let him cool off, okay?"

"Father will be very insecure when he learns of this." Lu Aotian sighed.

Lu Tongyan had in fact overheard their conversation. He did not know who Su Ling was but when they mentioned that she was Mo Zilian's friend, he was indeed very shocked. He took out his phone with trembling hands and called one of his friends who had a daughter to arrange for a blind date.

Early on Monday morning, Lu Shaoting did not immediately go to Lu Enterprises. Instead, he went to Elite Fashion World under the guise of checking on his sister-in-law.

While he actually planned to check on Wan Jia, that was only because he wanted to get to know that assistant named Su Ling.

He had gotten out of the elevator and was walking absentmindedly towards Wan Jia's office when a girl rushed out. She was walking so hurriedly that although he wanted to evade her, he was too late. The girl bumped right into his chest and started falling backwards from the inertia.

He held her dramatically with his right hand but he was a little too late, the impact made them both head for the floor.

With his right hand still holding he waist, he hurled out his other hand to protect her head.

The following phrase ran through his mind: Since we have already bumped into each other, why don't we skip all those boring formalities and just get married?
