While Wan Jia was paying the price for her naughtiness, Yun Xuan was in the Yun mansion, looking for her brother. She really had something to ask him.

"Old Two." she knocked on the study room door.

"Xuanxuan, come in."

Yun Xuan walked in and took a seat. "Old Two, can I ask you something?" she asked casually.

"Go ahead."

"Do you remember months ago when you said that Wan Jia is our sister?"

"Yeah, why do you ask?"

"It's nothing important. Today when I was having breakfast with her, she laughed at some point and for a second I thought she really takes after Dad. I was freaked out."

Actually, what she just said about Wan Jia laughing was a lie. She was just trying to indirectly probe him about what he told her before (that Wan Jia knew the truth and was keeping it from her). Whenever Yun Xuan wanted to ask something indirectly, she would be so skilled at it that she could be slightly comparable to secret agents of Tyler's variety.

Yun Jifeng tapped his index finger on the study desk."You shouldn't freak out. Isn't it usual for children to take after their parents?" Then he used the grand opportunity to complete his father's task of making sure Yun Xuan and Wan Jia reconcile. "Talking of which, father said that when she decides to accept our family as her own, we should treat her well."

"Father said that?"

"Yes." He lied shamelessly. "Father and Mrs. Yun have been trying to talk her into coming home but she refuses every time." he put on a fake disappointed expression.

Yun Xuan pushed her limits further. "How about I talk to her?"

"Don't!" Yun Jifeng exploded. He coughed and composed himself. "I mean, father said to give her space. She may be angrier if we step in."

Yun Xuan thought, you drove a wedge between us before, now you're speaking up for her?

She probed even further. "Oh, but why have our parents never mentioned this to me or our brothers?"

Yun Jifeng still lied. "It's because they want to give the family a surprise when she agrees to come back. You should not ask them about it, this matter breaks their hearts."

Yun Xuan smiled secretly. Why did this story of his sound so fake...

"Old Two, how come she was not brought up here then, and why is there no news of her in the family? If I didn't know, I would think she popped out of thin air."

Yun Jifeng made up a very quick lie, not at all suspecting his sister's questioning. "You wouldn't know because you had not yet been brought into the family. She was actually born a few months before you came and she was stolen away by father's enemies."

"Are you sure? You were a little boy at the time. Did you remember wrongly? Perharps she was born after I was brought or more than a year before..?"

Yun Jifeng insisted on his answer and did not suspect her at all "I would never get it wrong because those were both very significant things and they happened in the same year."

"Oh, I see. Old Two, I need to do something so I'll be heading out first."

The first thing she did when she entered her room was lock the door and look for her childhood little box of memories. She took out a little diary and opened the first page. She had written the entry on the day Madam Yun had given her the diary as a present and taught her how to keep it. At the time, she was five years old, just a few months before she would turn six.

"Mom."

"Xuanxuan, you are home."

She habitually went and hugged her, then started acting cute to get answers. "Mom, I heard a very shocking rumour."

"What rumour."

"That you are pregnant."

Madam Yun laughed. "What kind of nonesense is that? I'm already so old. Can I even get pregnant?"

She said shyly, "If you did, I would be very happy for you and congratulate you but...Mom, if the baby is a girl, would you still dote on me? If I fell out of your favour, I would cry to death."

Madam Yun scolded her. "What nonesense. You're my only daughter. How can I stop doting on you?"
