Although they were not the most valuable, she had worked the hardest. With the help of her parents, she had stuck tiny diamonds onto a tie clip, a brooch and a bracelet.

Xia Rou and Lin Lihua loved their brooch and bracelet respectively as soon as they saw them.

As for Lin Zhou, none of them knew yet but that tie clip was bound to be his favourite. Even years later when people would ask him where he bought it, he would proudly say that it was his granddaughter's first gift to him.

Not too long later, the men decided to go to the balcony for a game of chess, leaving the women to gossip for a while. Little Jia wanted to stick to her new grandfather and followed the men to watch from the sidelines.

Lu Aotian kept beating him with a very tiny range, making him keep his hopes up. Only much later did he realize that the man was doing it on purpose. Perhaps he was only winning by a small range to give his father-in-law face.

"Your father is so lucky. Two capable sons, what else could anyone ask for?"

Lu Aotian simply said, "You are too kind, Uncle Lin."

"Even luckier is me. You are marrying my daughter after all. I'm the happiest father in the world. I guess... Tongyan would be very jealous of me."

Lu Aotian pushed a chess piece with a change in expression. "Oh, would he now? In my opinion, the one to be jealous should be someone else."

Lin Zhou thought Lu Aotian's eyes right now looked spooky. "What do you mean?"

Xia Rou laughed. "Of course not. When I was younger, I was not beautiful. I only became more beautiful as I grew up."

Wan Jia's curiosity was piqued as well. "Then, when you were in your twenties, did you look just like me?"

It was the first time Wan Jia had asked such a question so Xia Rou was willing to tell her everything there was to tell. She brought over a family photo album and started showing her daughters photos of her past.

There were also some embarassing photos of the young Lin Lihua. Wan Jia laughed her lungs out when she saw how playful her sister was as a child.

There were even some of Lin Lihua and Xia Jing together, as well as baby photos of Xia Lan and Xia Jing. Xia Rou did not talk about them and Wan Jia did not ask anything. The Xia Rou in the past indeed looked like the present Wan Jia.
