It was still night in Country C, so Wan Jia didn't inform Lu Aotian about the bid. She would give him a call later and discuss it. Meanwhile, she wanted to go for a walk around.

Before she did, Kara gave her a call. "Are you free to go together for lunch? Someone recommended a really cool restaurant. Come with Su Ling too."

"I don't have much going on. Let me check on Su Ling."

Su Ling really wanted to go, but she couldn't go with Kara around. She always felt awkward around her, as though they were just never meant to be friends. "I don't feel too well. Can I call a rain check?"

Wan Jia knew it was just an excuse but she didn't want to make her feel uncomfortable. "That's okay. You should take medicine and rest. I'll bring you something yummy on my way back."

When Wan Jia met up with Kara, the situation would have been a little awkward because of the business deal they were both hoping to get.

"About the project…" Wan Jia started.

Kara stopped her. "You don't have to worry about it. If Lu Enterprises gets it by fair means, I will accept the outcome. We can't argue over a project, right? After all Xu Real Estate might belong to your family in future."

The first part made Wan Jia feel touched but what she said about Xu Real Estate caught her off guard. "What in the world do you mean?"

Kara chuckled as she twirled her wineglass. "Can you not look like I said something scary?"

She gave her a stern look. "Of course you said something scary. My baby is only four. Are you already plotting something?"

"How is this plotting? My son is also only six, okay? Not only that, he is very handsome and brilliant too. Little Jia would be on the benefitting end. That paired with the fact that Little Jia sees Liaowen and me as her uncle and aunt, and Tangtang feels the same about your family, we would make a perfect family, don't you think?"

Wan Jia didn't know what to tell her. "It's too early to think about marriage. You may have to wait for twenty years. Of course, the most important thing is that I will never force my daughter to marry someone she doesn't like."

"It's not that long. Hey, I was just mentioning it casually. Childhood friends make the best couple when they grow up but of course the final decision will still remain with them."

Wan Jia laughed at her antics. Trying to set up a little boy's marriage when he is only six, was she really his mother?

When they were done eating, she ordered take out and had it delivered to Su Ling. Then they went shopping for a bit.

While the two women were busy shopping and buying gifts for their husbands and children, Su Ling left her hotel room after a while. She had just exited when someone unfamiliar appeared beside her. "Can I have a word with you, Miss Su?"

"Who are you?" Her first thought was that someone was trying to assassinate her.

"Don't worry. I'm not here to hurt you. But if you resist then I can't be too sure about that."

Su Ling wanted to fight back but thinking about it, this man must have used a lot of effort to find her. He was obviously not alone and there was no way she would keep her life if she started a fight with him.

"What do you want?" She asked to buy herself some time, at the same time secretly reaching for her phone to call the police.

Alas, the man saw it. He sneered and took her phone, confiscating it. "Getting clever, are we? Do you think anyone would be able to help you if I were to hurt you?"

"Tell me what you want!"

"Your bid price."

"What?"

"Don't act dumb with me. My boss wants the project bid price for Lu Enterprises and all of us will be happy. If not…" he slammed a file hard against the floor.

Su Ling took it with shaking hands and when she opened it, her eyes shot open. "How…how could this be?"

The man enjoyed her shocked expression. "Do you think that the Lu family will still want you after they see these? Think about it. When you complete this task, there's a pay in it for you. Ten million dollars."

Something flashed in Su Ling's eyes but she withdrew her thought quickly. "What exactly do you want me to do?"

"Take a photo of the bid document and send it the number on this business card. Don't try to play any tricks." The man was slightly shocked at her sudden change of heart but he didn't think too much about it. He thought that his boss was right about her. She was just a girl who had been abandoned by her family. Although rumor had it that she was Lu Shaoting's woman, she was likely just a plaything. How could she not be moved at the mention of so much money?

"Okay. When I'm done, don't ever look for me."

"I will not." He remembered to add, "Something else, if you dare to…"

"Don't worry, not a soul will know of this meeting."

Su Ling's expression turned cold when the man left. I will send the picture but when the time comes, don't regret it.
