Su Ling mumbled. "What's the big deal in being the head lady anyway? You make it sound as though one would become a god of sorts.

The maid leaned in closer to whisper again. "Who said you will not become a god? You will basically become one. You get the power to manipulate Lu Enterprises as you please. Can't you see how hard Miss Wan Jia is trying?"

"That's good for her." Su Ling said distantly. Without waiting for the maid to say anthing else, she took her vase of lilies and left. She didn't know why this little maid was trying so incessantly to turn her against Wan Jia but it would be best to stay away from her. Who said she wanted power and influence? These people keep thinking of her as a woman out to use Lu Shaoting as a stepping stone to gain power. Could they be any more imaginative?

She walked back into the house and was happy to see Wan Jia playing a game of chess with Lu Tongyan. Little Jia was watching intently in the name of learning. Her mother had said that she would teach her to play when she was old enough to understand.

"Sister-in-law." Su Ling smiled and walked over.

"Is it just me or do you look different?" Wan Jia observed.

"How different?"

"You look more beautiful and poised. It's only been one week!" The last time Wan Jia came to the Lu residence, she didn't see her. Su Ling's one week of staying in the Lu residence was long over. Lu Tongyan had insisted on having her stay a little more and now that the time was over, she would go back to her apartment the next day.

In a voice only the two of them could hear, Wan Jia said to her, "It must be the nourishment of love."

Su Ling felt embarrassed. What was that anyway?

After one round of chess, Lu Tongyan stood up. "Why don't you ladies catch up? I'll be in the study. Little Jia, do you want to go with grandpa? Your mom and aunty must have a lot to talk about."

Little Jia followed her grandfather obediently.

With the two of them remaining, Su Ling finally felt free to speak her heart. "Shaoting seems to be in a bad mood these two days. Did something happen at the company?"

"Why would she know about my mood?" A voice from the entrance interrupted. Lu Shaoting had arrived. Ignoring Wan Jia, he went to his girlfriend. "Get changed. We are going somewhere right now, ." Having said that, he took Su Ling's hand and led her to her room to get changed.

Wan Jia knew exactly why she was being ignored. She would have talked to him but remembering Lu Aotian's warning about staying away from him, she only bit her lip and kept her distance. He still seemed to be angry with her.

Only after Lu Shaoting went upstairs with his girlfriend did Wan Jia realize that there had been someone else behind him all along. "Aotian?"

Lu Aotian didn't seem to find it strange that she had been ignored. "Give him some time."

She buried her head in his chest. "Mmh."

"Who permitted you to leave the house? If I remember correctly, you are still grounded." He pinched her waist and looked at her sternly as he scolded her.

Wan Jia avoided his gaze. She had missed Little Jia so much that she forgot about it. "I'll go back home right now."

"Mmh. That calls for punishment."

As soon as he said that, he kissed her lips. Luckily, no one was in the vicinity. When the two young masters were home, the servants only ever appeared if they had something to do.

"If that's meant to be punishment, are you trying to make me naughtier? Ouch." He bit her lip when she said that.

"Why are you here?" She asked when he let go of her.

"I came to pick Little Jia."

"Are we going somewhere?" her eyes lit up like Little Jia's.

"Not you. Only my princess and I."

"Oh…"

Lu Aotian patted her head "That will teach you to behave yourself next time."

Wan Jia could only accept her fate. Who told her to earn a punishment from him? She obediently went to Southside.

What made her experience worse was that he kept sending her photos of them having fun. Little Jia was wearing a royal blue miniature riding suit, looking like a small experienced rider. Lu Aotian's riding suit was black. Due to the black pattern on the hem of Little Jia's riding suit, they complimented each other. They were obviously custom made.

He had chosen an American pony for her since she was a child and it was her first time riding. After a while, Little Jia wanted to try the big black horse. Lu Aotian carried her onto its back and rode together. That picture of a loving father and daughter attracted immense envy. Everyone wished they were Little Jia so they could be doted on like that.

As for the forbidden consort grounded at home, she could only see the pictures and sulk. They actually went horse riding!
