For some reason, Su Ling felt incredibly scared. "I what?"

The other three women seemed to have thought of the same thing. Lin Lihua coughed.

Wan Jia raised her eyebrows. Su Ling's face was kind of pale...

Kara's eyes shifted slowly towards Su Ling's stomach. "Are you...pregnant?"

Hearing the word, Su Ling felt an explosion in her brain.

Pregnant?

She laughed. "You girls are thinking too much. As if I would be preg..."

Before she finished the word, her stomach churned violently and she ran off into the bathroom.

She came back feeling better a few minutes later. She sat back down confidently. "See? You were thinking too much. Aren't I totally fine?"

Like I would be pregnant."

Kara was not convinced that she was fine. "I still think you could be. Why don't you just take a test to be sure? You know, it would be horrible if you were convinced that you are not, and as a result you did something that would hurt your baby."

Since it was Kara speaking, she didn't know what to say, lest it made things awkward between them.

"You should listen to Kara. She has been pregnant twice after all; we only know the theory of it but she has experienced it twice." Lin Lihua said.

"Fine, I'll go to hospital tomorrow. But I'm telling you, I cannot be pregnant."

Of course, she had a reason to be sure. Forget about her tiny chances. She and Lu Shaoting had only done it twice and taken safety measures both times. How could she have concieved?

But since she couldn't say this out aloud, she could only agree to go to hospital.

Su Ling reached for a glass of wine.

Unconciously, everyone reached to hold her hand and take it from her hand at the same time.

"How can you drink wine?"

Su Ling was speechless. It's only suspicion. Can you all not act like I'm actually pregnant?

The next day, Su Ling freshened up and wanted to go shopping. Today, she was not going to the office because Xiao Rong had taken a day off so she had nothing to do at work.

She wanted to use this time to shop for groceries and several ingredients to prepare a nice meal for her man. Later, she would call him for dinner and have him spend the night.

She wore a pair of jeans and a cute pale blue top, grabbed a purse and hailed a cab right outside her apartment.

Halway to the wet market, there was a hospital on her left.

That reminded her, she was going to take a test.

"Sorry, could you go to the hospital we passed just now?" Su Ling changed her destination decisively. She would go to the wet market after taking the test.

"Miss, are you feeling unwell?" The cab driver asked out of concern, stunned at her sudden change of destination.

"No. I just want to pick something."

The cab stopped and the driver wondered whether he should wait for her.

"I might take long. You can just go back; sorry for troubling you."

Entering the hospital, Su Ling went straight into the obstetrics and gynecology unit.

For some reason, her heart raced fast as soon as she saw the doctor.

"I would like to take a pregnancy test." As soon as the words let her mouth, she realized just how shaky her voice was.

Geez! What was wrong with her? Wasn't it just a pregnancy test whose answer she ready knew?

Her blood sample was taken and she was asked to wait for a while.

Soon, the results were out. The female doctor flashed her a smile. "Congratulations Miss Su, you are four weeks pregnant."

"Huh?"

Su Ling's eyes shot open, threatening to roll right out.

"What did you just say? You didn't make a mistake, right?"

The female doctor felt that something was wrong. She confirmed Su Ling's identity details with her before repeating, "Miss Su, you are really pregnant." She passed the report to her, taking in Su Ling's reaction that was almost of denial. "Miss Su, do you want to keep it?"

Su Ling recieved the report with shaking hands. She was pregnant?

There was a little one in her belly?

How was that even...!

"But, from the timing..." four weeks ago should be the first time she and Lu Shaoting made love. Didn't she take the morning after pill? How was she still pregnant?

Her vision suddenly became foggy.

"Miss Su, are you alright?"

Su Ling's vision cleared. "I'm okay. I'm just shocked."

Something wasn't right. No, two things weren't right.

"Miss Su, if you don't want this child, I am usually strongly against abortion but you can do it while it's still early."

Hearing her voice, Su Ling rubbed her stomach subconciously. A smile slowly appeared on her lips. "I'm keeping it. Please recommend me the best food and supplements to eat to keep my baby healthy."

Who was she kidding? She had spent all these years hoping the heavens would grant her a chance to be a mother. Now that there was another little one in her belly, how could she hurt him? Not to mention, this was Lu Shaoting's baby.

When she left the hospital, she was still under the impression that she was dreaming.

She took out her phone and dialled Lu Shaoting's number.

The call was connected immediately. The man sounded happy. "Honey, I have a meeting to chair in ten minutes. Is something the matter?"

Since this was a dream, Su Ling greedily wanted to embrace every second of it and even tell the good news to her man.

"Shaoting, I came from hospital just now..." tears rolled down her cheeks.

Lu Shaoting became worried. "Are you alright?"

"Yes. I'm fine, nothing's wrong with me. Shaoting I...I'm pregnant."

Almost immediately, Lu Shaoting's voice fileld her ears. "I see. I'm hunging up now." The busy tone followed.

In that instant....

Her dream shattered.
