Wan Jia chuckled. "People from the Mu family have watched you grow up. There is nothing they don't know about you. Since you have already agreed to marry their son, there is no harm if you met them on your engagement party."

Wan Jia recalled something. "Speaking of which, I have something for you." She fished out some cards from her bag and gave to her. "These are the invitations for your engagement party. It will be held in the Mu residence."

Lu Meili took the cards in disbelief. "The engagement party has been arranged already yet the bride wasn't told a word of it?"

"The bride was busy filming. In actual fact, it was arranged a long time ago. All that was left was a bride and the date." Lu Meili squinted her eyes and Wan Jia continued. "If you didn't go on a blind date with Zhichen that day, he would be with another woman now. "Is that Meili? Let me speak to her." An enthusiastic voice was heard on the other side.

"Mother, calm down. Don't scare Meili away. You will meet soon." Mu Zhichen's voice was restrained, as though afraid she would hear.

However, Mu Zhichen's mother sounded even more aggrieved. "You punk! You won't let me say hi to my daughter-in-law. Are you picking on me because you think I'm weak?"

Lu Meili tittered. She had expected Mu Zhichen's family to be a huddle of serious people. Such playfulness was unexpected. "Mu Zhichen, it's your mother? Let me say hi to her."

Mu Zhichen helplessly gave the phone to the middle-aged woman throwing a tantrum.

She was so happy she could melt. "Meili, my dear, hello."

Lu Meili was pleased by the friendly greeting. "Hello aunty."

"Good girl. It's only a few days before you have to stop calling me 'aunty' and start calling me 'mother'."

Aside from this and a few more words, the women didn't know what to talk about. So Mrs. Mu changed the topic. "Meili, your betrothal gifts will be brought to your home tomorrow. I hope you will be free to recieve them." She spoke in the gentlest manner possible, afraid of scaring her daughter-in-law away.

Lu Meili appreciated her kindness. "I will stay at home tomorrow."
