The butler and the maids at the side were speechless. Did their master just lie about them resigning and leaving him on his own?

"What are you still doing here? Are you waiting for her?" Lin Ye knew they had not left since he didn't hear any footsteps.

The maids scurried away.

Only the butler gathered his courage to shakingly ask, "Master, should we scram until miss Yun leaves or should we disappear forever?"

"If I don't call you back, don't even set foot near the entrance. Take it as a paid leave for all of you." His tone was impatient, as though they were wasting his time.

The butler was overjoyed. So their master still cared about them.

After all, it would be difficult to find jobs if they were suddenly fired.

"Are you still here?"

The butler scurried away, too.

On the other side, Yun Xuan hung up the call guiltily. She had been so engrossed in her own matters that she forgot about the man she had decided to take care of.

How could she leave him all alone?

She glanced at her baby that was in deep slumber against Xia Rou's chest then glanced at Xia Rou.

"Aunty, will you mind if I leave for a bit? I'm going to cook for Lin Ye. He hasn't eaten a thing all day."

Xia Rou had a feeling that this was one of Lin Ye's antics of sneaking into Yun Xuan's heart - she knew about this because Lin Lihua had been jabbering about it beside her ear- but she didn't expose the young man because she knew that he was a nice man deserving of a girl like Yun Xuan.

Of course, the main point was that she thought Yun Xuan would find it hard taking care of a son on her own. She would really like it if she remarried, but she wouldn't be this open to that option if the man they were talking about was not Lin Ye.

So, she looked like she found him too pitiable. "Poor thing. You know, that child rarely ever complains about anything. If he speaks up, it means he couldn't bear with it anymore. I'm starting to think he has been hungry for much longer than he claims. He might have.... sigh. He might have even tried to cook something on his own but couldn't switch on any kitchen appliance, much less prepare anything."

Yun Xuan's heart ached even more. So much that she didn't stop to wonder why Xia Rou was not taking care of him despite knowing that he wouldn't complain no matter how much he suffered.

"Aunty, please help me take care of this little devil. I'll be back once Lin Ye has eaten and is asleep."

"Okay. Why don't we drop you off at Lin Ye's first? Later when you are ready to come back, I'll send a chauffeur to pick you up."

If this was before, Yun Xuan would have politely rejected the idea and taken a cab to Lin Ye's villa instead.

But after what happened the last time she refused to be dropped off, she couldn't take chances again, so she agreed.

When they arrived at Lin Ye's villa, Xia Rou did not leave the car because she didn't want to disturb the little boy's sleep by moving around too much.

Yun Xuan didn't think much about it. She didn't have time to think to start with.

She literally hopped off the car and dashed into the villa.

The bodyguards who were hiding exchanged puzzled looks. They couldn't understand what was going on no matter how hard they thought about it.

A few minutes ago, the maids had been seen running away like scared rabbits, with their belongings. And now a woman just dashed into the villa.

If the master had not assured them beforehand that he was alright, they would have thought he was in danger.

"Lin Ye!" Yun Xuan called out as soon as she was in the villa.

She saw the man tried go push the wheelchair after looking around. He looked like he was trying to get somewhere.

She ran over to him. "I told you to not move about. Where are you trying to go?"

Lin Ye's expression softened, a smile taking over his face. Was she worried about him?

Yun Xuan held his hands unconciously. "Do you need something?"

"I'm bored." He answered, his expression much innocent compared to how he looked when he was sending the servants away.

"Let me play you some music. When I'm done cooking, I'll keep you company and chat with you for a few minutes."

"Okay."

"What do you want to eat?"

"Anything you cook is delicious." He looked so innocent saying this that Yun Xuan didn't suspect him of flirting.

After all, she was quite a good cook. Although she initially wasn't that good in the kitchen, she had been cooking for herself since Yun Feng was born. Of course she would be able to cook delicious food.

She chose to cook something that wouldn't take up too much time since he was very hungry at the moment.

Unfortunately, there were very few ingredients at the moment. She could only cook white rice and a few side dishes.

She made a mental note to go and buy more groceries and ingredients later, before starting to cook.

When she was done, she brought it to the dining table.

Then she wheeled Lin Ye who was taking in the sweet aroma into the dining room and started feeding him.

She fed him like she would feed her son.

When he had eaten to his fill and knew that she might be leaving soon, he suddenly grabbed her hand.

"What is it?"

Yun Xuan felt her mind blow off. There he went again, with the cute tone. Was anything else wrong?

"Xuanxuan, can you stay a little longer? Can you go back home tomorrow? I'll be very loney once you leave."
