As soon as Yun Xuan saw the man approach, her expression changed slightly before it went back to that of indifference. 

"Why are you here?" 

She was sitting on a bench that was quite long and there were several toys beside her. 

Lin Ye walked over and pushed the toys to the other end like it was the most natural thing to do, and sat next to her. He placed his hand on the backrest behind her back. 

Yun Xuan sat still, ignoring his actions of snuggling up to her. She sat the little boy onto a matt at the side and gave him a toy. 

A long spell of silence followed, punctuated with Yun Feng's incomprehensible chatter and his giggles once in a while. 

"I'm sorry." Lin Ye finally said. 

He knew that no reason would be good enough to excuse his actions. He was at fault here: he had just been too unreasonable. 

"That should be the hundredth time you are saying that." 

Actually, her phone had been assaulted by endless voice recordings and messages hhat went along the same lines. She almost didn't know what to do with him. "You know, you're the only person I don't want to speak to." 

He knew this, but it still stung. Was she ever going to trust him again? 

"Please leave." Yun Xuan didn't dare to look him in the eye. Her hands were tightly clenched and there must be a layer of cold sweat covering her back. It was obvious just how much she had struggled to say this. 

Lin Ye really wanted to call her out for it. She obviously wanted to be with him and maybe, just maybe, liked him. Why was she sending him away even though her heart wanted him to stay? 

Still, perhaps it would be best to let her figure it out herself. He stood up without any protest. 

He was going to say that he would be nearby if she wanted to see him when he heard a stifled cry full of sorrow. 

The origin was the tiny boy who had been playing on his own and didn't pay any attention to him. He didn't seem to be bothered by his presence. 

But when he saw that Lin Ye was about to leave, he stood up, tripping back into a sitting position because he had been roo rushed. He tried again and stood, then darted towards Lin Ye and clung on his leg. 

Lin Ye felt his frozen heart start to melt. In the past, this little boy wouldn't spare him a glance. In fact, he would be using that chance to throw a tantrum for him to leave. 

Lately, however, they had spent quite a lot of time playing together. The little boy had started to acknowledge him and even like him. 

He bent low and took him into his arms for a hug before putting him back on the matt. He would have loved to grab this chance to stay, as he knew that the little boy wanted to play together, but that would only be if he received permission from Yun Xuan. 

As expected, Yun Xuan didnt say anything for him to stay. 

Actually, she was rethinking her choices. She no longer wanted her son to get too close to Lin Ye. What if she had made yet another wrong choice? 

Compared to seeing the boy have his heart broken later, she would rather not let him have any attachment. 

The problem was that it was too late to think about the latter. 

"Then I'll get going now." 

As soon as he turned, a scream pierced through the air. 

Yun Xuan had to cover her ears tightly with both hands but it was useless. She massaged her temples that had started to throb and tried to pick him up, only for the little one to cry harder. 

Yun Xuan was helpless. Out of everything her dear son could have inherited from that man, he just had to inherit his awful temper! 

As soon as that thought registered itself, Yun Xuan felt something wasn't right and froze.

"Isn't the timing too coincidental?" 

Her question was directed towards Lin Ye. 

The man quickly took a toy and stuffed into the wailing little boy's hands then sat on the matt with him. He only looked at Yun Xuan after pacifying the little one, "What is it?" 

"The fact that Tyler found out about Yun Feng, tried to get custody of him and lost, then weeks later, such an absurd thing as attempted murder happens. Is it possible that..." she trailed off, not daring to believe that such a beastly father existed on earth. 

Lin Ye understood her hypothesis as he had thought about it too. "Do you think he would kill his own son because he couldn't get him?" 

Yun Xuan waved her hands in the air. "Logically no father would be able to do this, right? But then again, Tyler is the type of man who would rather destroy something than let his opponent have it. 

It sounds rather far fetched even when I put it that way but... but is there any other person who still has grudges against me? I cleared up the air with everyone else!" And of course, Yun Feng was still too young to earn himself any enemies. 

Lin Ye considered her words seriously, shocked that he only found it far fetched but not entirely impossible."

At the same time in the Lin family's home, the house where Lin Ye grew up and called a home for many years of his childhood. 

A duo glared at each other across the living room, neither admitting that the turn of events was their fault. 

"What lousy maid did you hire?! That b*tch almost killed my son! Yet you have the balls to blame me for not following the plan to the end??" 

Lin Ye's elder brother wanted nothing more than to strangle this man. "You have the guts to come here after letting her get caught?" 

"You expected me to save my own son's murderer?!" 

"You fool! That little brat should have died to teach you a lesson! What kind of father offers his son as a pawn in such a dirty plot?"
